On the afternoon of 8th July 2014, the International Eisteddfod kicks off in fine style with participants from Wales, England, Cornwall, Argentina, Ukraine, Poland, Australia, Zimbabwe, Iceland, China, Russia, Belarus, Costa Rica, South Africa, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, USA, Kurdistan and Northern Ireland.

DGJS Choir - Winner at Llangollen International Musical 2008
On 10th July 2008, the Diocesan Girls Junior School (DGJS) Junior Choir won 1st place in the
category of Junior Children's Choir at the renowned Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod held in Wales of the United Kingdom. The year 2008 marks the 62nd year of this music festival which is famous for its emphasis on choral singing and for being regarded as the Bridge of Friendship as competitors from over 40 countries are brought together in peace and harmony through the sharing of song and dance. The DGJS Llangollen Choir, consisting of students selected from Pr. 4 and Pr. 5, received raving comments from the adjudicators. These included phrases such as : beautifully shaped and sensitive singing, vocal technique was absolutely secure and the blend was superb, a very lovely interpretation and the English
diction was absolutely fantastic. Apart from achieving success in the competition, the choir was interviewed and filmed by 2 different TV stations in Llangollen and the girls also gave a mini
concert to the inhabitants of Llangollen. Alicia Ho was a member of the Choir.

When and why was your group formed?
The main group was formed in 2004, as a result of a common passion for singing by young female singers. This group is a result of a group of young girls and boys, who were as passionate as the senior members of the group, and wanted to sing for the love of music

At the Institute of Western Music and Speech, Colombo, Sri Lanka

Have you performed in any other festivals and competitions in your own country?
The senior group Soul Sounds, is internationally famous, having also performed and been placed 1st Runners Up, at the Llangollen International Eistedfodd in Wales in 2004. This group is relatively young, and while they have sung for many a local performances, this is the first competition abroad.
Have you performed in any other festivals and competitions in countries other than your own?
Again, the senior group, Soul Sounds - yes, Wales 2004, Also performed in India, China, Australia, Kuwait, Austria, France and England.
What is the name of your conductor/leader?
Music Director, Soundarie David Rodrigo, Conductor
Give us a short biography of your conductor/leader
Our Music Director is well known Musician,and accomplished pianist Soundarie David, our conductor, is a senior member of the main choir Soul Sounds, and is also a soprano, having being placed first runner up, in the Solo category in Wales, also in 2004, our accompanist is also our Music Director mentioed above, also accompanying will be our drummer and keyboardist.

First of all, a great musical and choral experience, in addition to which, if possible at all, an award...

Llangollen 2017 World Record - 89 Tenors Sing Nessum Dorma
89 tenors have created a new World Record after filling the Dee Valley with the sounds of the iconic song Nessum Dorma. The impromptu performance took place after the announcement of the winners of the Male Voice Choir category on Saturday 8th July.

Llangollen International Eisteddfod 2013 Parade of Nations.
The annual riot of colour, music, dancing and fun descends on the small North Wales town of Llangollen. Performers from Australia, Belgium, Brittany, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kurdistan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Africa, the USA and Wales took part in the opening parade.
This year saw brilliant sunshine, something of a relief after the high humidity and plummeting pressure of last year, with all the camera misting it entailed!
The Obernkirchen Children's Choir, who made The Happy Wanderer an international hit in 1953, return to the festival on the 60th anniversary. They perform the song in this video.
New this year were gorgeous costumes worn by competitors from Indonesia and China. Any idea which country the circus skills people represented? No flag...!
