Victoria, Canada. History & Best Time To Travel
Victoria is the capital of the province of British Columbia Canada. It is known as The Garden City. Victoria is an attractive city and a popular tourism destination. This city is in the top twenty of world cities for quality-of-life. Victoria is the 7th most densely populated city in Canada. The city has a large non-local student population.
LOCATION
Victoria located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island off Canada's Pacific coast. Victoria is the southernmost major city in Western Canada, and is about 100 kilometers (60 miles) from British Columbia's largest city of Vancouver on the mainland. The city is about 100 km (60 mi) from Seattle and 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Port Angeles, Washington,
HISTORY
Victoria Is Named after Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. Prior to the arrival of European navigators in the late 1700s, the Victoria area was home to several communities of Coast Salish peoples. The Spanish and British took up the exploration of the northwest coast, beginning with the visits of Juan Pérez in 1774, and of James Cook in 1778. The city's Chinatown is the second oldest in North America after San Francisco's.
BEST TIME
The best times to visit Victoria and Vancouver Island are March to May and September to November. The region sees some of the country's mildest weather and the driest summers, so while you might experience a light drizzle here and there, plan on comfortable temperatures in the spring and fall.
CLIMATE
Victoria has a mild warm summer Mediterranean climate. Victoria's winter temperatures average temperature of 5.0 °C in January. During the winter, the average daily high and low temperatures are 8 and 4 °C, respectively. The summer months are also relatively mild, with an average high temperature of 20 °C and low of 11 °C.
ECONOMY
The city's chief industries are technology, tourism and education. Advanced technology is Victoria's largest revenue source. Victoria is a major tourism destination with over 3.5 million visitors per year who add more than a billion dollars to the local economy. Many whale watching tour companies operate here due to the whales often present near its coast.

We traveled to Victoria Britich Columbia and spent 48 hours exploring the city. Hope you like the video and be sure to like and subscribe, below is a list of the places we went:
Ogden Waterfront
Hatley Castle
Craigdarroch Castle
Bra Bar
Parliament
Tallest Free Standing Totem Pole in the World
Perverted Ice Cream
FYI: When I said Beau for Sara I meant best friend. She’s single (rather married to NASA)...or unless Michael Sheen becomes available.

Victoria, capital of British Columbia, sits on the craggy southern end of Vancouver Island. With abundant parkland, it’s known for outdoor activities. The city's British colonial past shows in its Victorian architecture, including stately Craigdarroch Castle mansion. Butchart Gardens, with 55 acres of vivid floral displays, plus statuary, water features and a carousel, is one of many formal gardens in the city.

Top 5 Beaches in Victoria BC: Plus Secret Private Beaches Just for You - Vlog 125
This week we are going to share with you the best beaches in Victoria BC in 10 minutes. We kept our choices within Victoria starting from Ogden point and we only went as far as Cadboro Bay. We chose both sandy and rocky beaches. Victoria is an island so we actually have A LOT of beaches, which is why we were also able to include an incredible feature in this vlog, which is how to find your own secret, private and secluded beaches.
Starting at Ogden Point with Dallas Beach, this is our go-to choice when it gets super hot in Victoria (which is not that often). Think of it as air conditioning on a hot day. Nobody who lives close to the water has air conditioning, so when it gets hot, we can take a walk on Dallas beach and walk out on the breakwater and cool off.
Our second choice is our ¨home base¨ beach, Spiral Beach. This is at the bottom of Cook Street by Ogden Point. This is a pebble beach, great for throwing stones and taking a break in our work day as it is only a short walk or bike ride from our home.
We added a bonus beach for you, Ross Beach. This one is a favourite for photoshoots. There is something about all the driftwood and the backdrop on this beach. It is probably our most often, go-to beach for an after dinner stroll.
Next up is another favourite, Gonzales Beach. The sandy beach and the bay means that it is sheltered which also makes it a great place for sun tanning and swimming.
Probably the most popular Victoria BC beach is Willows Beach in Oak Bay. This beach is a family favourite for day trips, BBQs, picnics, and swimming. It is another great sandy beach to spend a hot summer´s day.
Our final pick is Gyro beach in Cordova Bay. This is a great beach for paddle boarding and canoeing. CARD: Canoeing in Cadboro Bay:
Make sure you watch the video so you can be in know on how to find all the secret and secluded beaches in Victoria BC. We will be giving you all the tips.
Thanks for watching and giving this video a thumbs up. If you watch all the way to the end, put ¨life´s a beach¨ so I know who my fabulous finishers are :)
Namaste, Melissa

Trounce Alley at night time, Victoria BC Canada
A very small but historic & quaint little alley tucked in the heart of downtown Victoria. Full of local shops and some niche restaurants.
How did Trounce Alley in Victoria get its name?
Thomas Trounce was a gold rush miner and a builder, originally from Cornwall, England. He moved to London as a young man and later with his wife Jane, moved to New Zealand where he worked as a carpenter and joiner. When the California gold rush broke out, they sailed for San Francisco. With all the fires that occurred in San Francisco, Trounce had steady work as a builder. Then, in 1858, news of the Fraser River gold rush reached his ears and Trounce got on a ship bound for Victoria.
He first lived in a tent on Government Street while he worked as a builder. He was able to buy a property not long later. The only issue was that the right of way to his property belonged to the Hudson’s Bay Company and this they sold. What was he to do? Trounce was hardly discouraged, instead he established his own thoroughfare between Government and Broad Streets which became known as Trounce Alley.
A nice alleyway in the heart of downtown Victoria BC. Trounce Alley is quiet with an assortment of shops and a couple of restaurants that offer a mix of privacy and serenity.
This tiny alley house a wonderful Tapas venue. The offerings are shareable, reasonable and varied. paired with a pitcher of their Sangria, it is a great way to done and share an evening with friends. Go a little early because it is always busy.
