Christmas Day dinner 'disaster' at plush Scots hotel as fuming diners 'walk out'
Some diners 'walked out' of a Scots five-star hotel yesterday after their Christmas dinner service descended into a 'disaster'. Guests who booked tables at the Lochgreen House Hotel and Spa in Troon , Ayrshire, paid £85 for their seats, but some say they were left without meals for hours. Reviews left on Trip Advisor claim punters had to wait almost two hours before being served a drink, there were no canapés served, food was cold and dry and empty bottles were left lying on the floor. Furious customers dining in the luxury venue's function suite, which held 160 people, claim six tables walked out two hours after arriving. The luxury hotel, described as 'the jewel in Ayrshire's crown' with a five-star rating from Visit Scotland on its website, falls under the plush Costley chain. One furious diner posted on Trip Advisor: What a total disaster and disappointment. It was £85.00 a head, no canapés, no bread rolls, help yourself to drink sitting on the bar, no waiter service, no waiters. A room of 160 people crammed to capacity like a work's canteen. People were walking out and complaining everywhere you looked. We will never return. A second wrote: The Christmas lunch, 2pm serving, was a complete and utter disaster. When seated no one offered to get our drinks, no water on the table. An hour and a half later, still no one came for a drink order. The staff were all walking about like headless chickens, with no idea what was going on. There were empty bottles piled up on the floor, staff couldn’t even clear the tables away and there were empty cracker wrappers all over the floor. I had a one-year-old who had been sitting in a high chair for two hours without even a bread roll to keep him occupied. A 'manager' made an announcement with a half heartfelt apology, admitting the lunch was a “shambles” and he would bring prosecco round. During his speech a full table stormed out shouting “I’m off” and everyone cheered. It was like something from a panto. The customer continued: The turkey was dry with hardly any vegetables on the plate, no sauces or condiments offered. The salmon was tiny and completely burnt, inedible. I wouldn’t even expect this service in McDonald’s yet alone Lochgreen. A third blasted the management. They added: I have never experienced such incompetence and general mismanagement married with cavalier indifference all directed to patrons who had spent their hard cash to treat their families to a luxury Christmas meal. The catalogue of basic errors in hospitality management and delivery is lengthy and woeful. Staff walked around like anchor-less dinghies. Never again will I set foot in any Costley restaurant. Steer clear at all costs. A fourth wished they'd stayed at home. They posted: I was very disappointed in the food today. I could have made a better turkey dinner at home, this will be last time for us. Such a shame, especially at £85 quid per head. Mr Cost

County Durham Wedding DJ ( is a recommended Mobile Disco/DJ supplier at Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Course in Darlington. If you've never been to the venue before and you're looking at a high-class establishment to hold a wedding reception, we'd thoroughly recommend that you put this hotel at the top of your list.
Rockliffe Hall is one of the finest hotels in the North East of England. The luxury venue is set alongside the River Tees in Darlington, County Durham and it also has a fabulous Spa Resort and a world-class golf course.
We were proud to be asked to provide the wedding disco for David and Lisa in the Rockliffe Suite. The newlyweds picked one of the most popular songs from the 1970s as their First Dance: Barry White - You're The First, The Last, My Everything. This was a great tune to start the evening entertainment and it kick-started a wonderful and memorable night for the couple and their guests.
The couple also selected some other special songs that meant a lot to them and their families. There were also some selection of songs that the ladies danced the night away to when they were on Lisa's Hen Party and the bridal party picked Dean Martin and 'That's Amore' for the last song of the night.
As a preferred supplier to Rockliffe Hall for wedding entertainment and discos for other events/functions, County Durham Wedding DJ is looking forward to providing more of our services at the hotel in the future.
