The park is home to an internationally significant bird area right in the Capital region for more than a million local residents to enjoy. The park is recognized for its abundant and diverse bird population, especially waterfowl and shorebirds. Ducks Unlimited Canada will be building the John E. Poole Interpretive Wetland on the new park lands to educate visitors about the sensitive ecology in the area.

Out one spring evening with my Brother Bruce and our cameras. We stopped at the Lois Hole Centennial Park off Big Lake, St Albert. These photos are a result of that stop.

Canoeing The Sturgeon River, Alberta - Calahoo To St. Albert
Enjoyed a day canoeing the Sturgeon River in central Alberta. Put-in at Range Rd. 273, north of Calahoo, and took-out at the Riel Park canoe dock in St. Albert. The distance of 35 km is a very rough estimate. The flow was 5 cms at the Villeneuve station. April 19, 2019. Hope you enjoy.
