FC Torpedo Moscow
FC Torpedo Moscow (Russian: ФК Торпедо Москва, FK Torpedo Moskva) is a football club, based in Moscow, Russia. The club was founded in 1924. On 19 March 2009, it was denied membership of the Professional Football League (the organization that conducted the competition in the Russian First Division and Russian Second Division) and did not play in the professional competitions in 2009. On 3 April 2009, representatives of the new owner of FC Torpedo Moscow, ZiL, appealed that decision. As the deadline for 2009 registration passed, FC Torpedo Moscow was not reinstated in the Second Division and Torpedo-ZIL remained the only professional Torpedo for 2009. Torpedo Moscow won the Moscow Region of Amateur Football League in 2009. On 22 December 2009, Torpedo passed licensing and played in the Russian Second Division in 2010 (Zone Center). They beat Gubkin 1–0 at home on 30 October 2010, and became champions of Zone Center of Second Division in the 2010 season. This meant Torpedo was promoted to Russian First Division after three seasons with making two successive promotions. In the 2013-14 season Torpedo finished 3rd in the Russian First Division and qualified for the promotion play off where they were vying for promotion to the Russian Premier League. They faced Krylya Sovetov Samara in the play offs. Torpedo won the first leg with goals from Alexander Salugin and Oleg Vlasov which meant they took a 2-0 lead going into the away leg. The second leg finished 0-0 meaning Torpedo won 2-0 on aggregate and won promotion whilst Krylya were relegated to the First Division.

The last match of the protracted two-week tour for Zenit-Kazan took place in Novosibirsk, where for the second time in three days Vladimir Alekno's team had to defend the first position in the SuperLeague in competition with the nearest pursuer, who on December 8 became Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk!

80. The building of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Kazakh Soviet Republic
The building was built in 1937 according to the design of M.D. Sugal and V.V. Biryukov, on one of the busiest avenues of the city, Abylaikhan Avenue, 97. In Soviet times, the highest legislative body of Kazakhstan was working here.
The three-storied L shaped construction plays a vital role in the ensemble of the central area of the city. The corner of the building is accentuated by portico consisting of 4 pillars and the side pylon. Parapet is decorated with high-relief images of figures on a horizontal plane - working people of prewar decade, a symbol of labor and valor (sculptor A.Kroshin). This parapet ornament was applied for the first time in urban planning practice of Alma-Ata and it was easily a recognizable sign of the building.
Here you can see the Soviet tank T-26, the Red Army soldier with a three-linear rifle and athletic collective farmers with baskets filled with the gifts of nature. The work was carried out in line with social realism. Currently, Almaty Financial Management is located in the building.
Plane Carrying KHL Hockey Players Crashes in Russia
Tragedy has struck a Russian hockey league. An airplane carrying a team from the KHL was experiencing technical difficulties upon takeoff and unfortunately came crashing down soon after. Tragically, all but a few perished in the crash.
Racism in Russia
Racism in Russia appears mainly in the form of negative attitudes and actions by Russians towards people who are not considered ethnically Russian. Traditionally, Russian racism included antisemitism, as well as hostility towards various ethnicities of Caucasus and Central Asia. The director of the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights, Alexander Brod, stated that surveys show xenophobia and other racist expressions are prevalent in 50 percent of Russians. In 2006, Amnesty International reported that racism in Russia was “out of control” and estimated the number of Russian neo-Nazis at around 85,000 in 2008. But despite all this Russia is the second largest immigration receiver after the United States. Russia has also the second highest immigration rate in Eastern Europe after the Czech Republic while other European countries like Germany and Poland stay very homogeneous with lower openness for immigrants.
