kalaroos cave
Believe it or not, this is a wonderland story. The caves located in Kalaroos village of Kupwara district, some 90 km from summer capital Srinagar, have many myths associated with them. But the one that intrigues everyone is that these caves are secret tunnels to Russia. Situated ten kilometres away from district headquarters the caves, locals say, are covert ways to Russia.

Divar Village in Kupwara Has Seen The Worst Horrors Of Kashmir Conflict
Divar village in northern most part of Kashmir is located in picturesque Lolab valley of district Kupwara. This locality has lost many of its men to fake encounters by the Indian army. In the process many children got orphaned and with the result the kids had to abandon their studies due to the poverty which struck their families afterwards. Pir Azhar reports from this frontier area of Kashmir.

Secret ways to Russia throug Kupwara Caves in Kashmir Valley.
Hidden tourist spot of kupwara Kashmir . 7doors area of kalarooos .
The most fascinating thing about these caves is that the locals believe that they are secret ways to Russia. A few locals believe that there are massive water bodies inside while some believe that there are temples of the Padavas inside. We don’t know what the truth is as it is mostly untouched by the archeology department but the aura of mystery that’s attached to these caves is quite charming. These caves are rumored to be unending. They are as narrow as 4 feet at some points and as wide as two lane road at some points. The first two kilometers can be covered by foot; these caves are attracting a lot of picnickers in recent times. Kalaroos village is a pretty sight with the sweetest locals, do stop by and interact with them if you get some time because travelling is all about exploring the unexplored and understanding the differences while appreciating our diversity.

Beautiful Meadows of BANGUS Valley ( Mawer , Kupwara, Kashmir)
The Bangus Valley is a Himalayan sub-valley of the
Kashmir Valley . It is situated in the North area of
Kupwara District , in Jammu and Kashmir , India .
Bangus is 72 Kilometers away from Srinagar and lies at an altitude of 10,000 ft. above sea level. The principal valley is locally known as Badi Bangus (Big Bangus) and has an estimated area of about 300 Square Kilometers. It consists of a linear elliptical bowl aligned along the east-west axis and is surrounded by Rajwar and Mawar in the east, Shamasbury and Dajlungun Mountains in the west and Chowkibal and Karnah Guli in the north. A smaller valley known as Lokut Bangus (Small Bangus) lies on the north-eastern side of the main valley.
The valley is traversed by many small streams with nearly 14 tributaries, including the Roshan Kul, Tillwan Kul and Douda Kul. The water of these streams form one of the headwaters of the Kamil River which in turn joins the Lolab stream, thus forming the Pohru River.
Bangus is replete with a diverse variety of flora and fauna. The meadows and the slopes of the side plateaus are covered with a range of flowers and medicinal plants. Fresh water fishes of moderate size and their fingerlings inhabit the streams. The valley's forests and plains serve as the breeding, feeding and protection grounds for many wild animal species. The wild life of includes about 50 species of animals and about 10 species of birds. The animal species include the musk deer, antelope, snow beopard, brown bear, black bear, monkeys, and red fox.A large number of residents and migratory birds can also be found feeding and breeding in the valley. The prominent resident birds include the Pheasants, Tragophan, Monal Pheasant, Black Partridge Jungle, Bush Quail, and Wild Fowl.
Bangus has remained largely restricted and an unfavorable tourist spot due to the armed conflict that affects this area, and also due to the lack of infrastructure. However, in recent years, efforts have been made to bring the valley on the tourist map.
