Upon arrival the Lucas Mansion, which is a three story Victorian, National Historic Registry home, guests are transported to a holiday wonderland of decorations that tell the story of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Each room in the Lucas Mansion Museum, which is located on the first floor, is restored to reflect turn of the 20th century family life. Guided tours of the museum take guests on a beautifully decorated holiday journey through the story of A Christmas Carol.
The Hiddenite Center's Lucas Mansion Gallery, located on the second floor, will feature an extensive, vintage Dickens Christmas Village made of hand painted porcelain. This rare treasure was originally owned by The Hiddenite Center's founder, Mrs. Eileen Lackey Sharpe. The village includes shops, townspeople, and characters from A Christmas Carol represented in 1/64 inch scale. This exhibition of Mrs. Sharpe's Dickens Christmas Village marks the first time that the village has been displayed at The Hiddenite Center in its entirety.
The Gallery will also feature the work of The Foothills Visual Art Guild of Western NC. This mixed media exhibit will focus on scenes that portray winter and Christmas themes.
The third floor of the Lucas Mansion features an impressive collection of antique dolls and toys that are sure bring back memories of Christmas wishes and gifts past. This floor will feature special holiday décor that highlights the collection.
All Lucas Mansion Gallery exhibits and the third floor collections are open to the public FREE of charge. Guided tours of the Lucas Mansion Museum are affordably priced at $4 for adults and $3 for senior adults and students. Group tours of the Lucas Mansion Museum are welcomed.
