Lombok Indonesia Travel Guide During Low Season (Mataram, Rinjani, Selong Belanak and Tanjung Aan)
Lombok is awesome! They say it is the new Bali. I am not really sure what to think about it, but what I can tell you: visit Lombok for sure! The food is awesome, the people are super open and friendly, the beaches are beautiful and the surf is the sh*t. So how to travel Lombok and what to do on Lombok? I will give you some answers in this video about Lombok/Indonesia!
Accommodation:
Ibludan Hotel (one of the greatest places we ever stayed at):
- between Mataram and Senggigi Beach!
- also, Kuta is supposed to be awesome! Check out Kuta and stay here for a while. It is a town of surfers and lost Australians.
What to see on Lombok?
- Hike on the Gunung Rinjani: check the time schedules as hikes are not allowed between November and March
- Kuta: Bali many years ago
- Beaches: Selong Belanak and Tanjung Aan
- Eastern Lombok: pink beach and magic island
- South-West: more Gili islands
-Visit Mataram (the capital of Lombok)
- Ogoh-Ogoh festival: an awesome experience where they build huge demons and burn them during the night
How to get around?
- when you fly to Lombok, take the DAMRI buses from the airport to the place you want to go. The buses are cheap and easy to take.
- to get around on Lombok you can take the Bluebird taxis (best option), Bemo (public buses) or private drivers.
- other apps to get around (like UBER): Grab and GoCar

The journey from Bali to Lombok | Mataram (Indonesia Ep 7)
Our final destination was Mataram, on Lombok, but first we had to get to Denpasar on Bali, then from Bali to Lombok. Our journey required a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Denpasar, an overnight, then a bus, the slow ferry, and a short shuttle ride. What a big couple of days!
The slow ferry from Bali to Lombok leaves from Padang Bai on Bali and arrives at Port Lembar on Lombok. This trip is not for the faint of heart as it is a car ferry, not a tourist ferry and can take up to eight hours depending on the weather. If you are budget travellers like us then it is the best way to go. We were lucky, as it was a great day, and our mammoth journey to Lombok, was very successful, and ended with some great street food in Mataram.

???? Lombok to Gili Islands ⛱ | Coconut wine and durians | Public Ferry | Local Indonesian food
Find Jason on Instagram:
This vlog was made in 2018 before the big earthquake that devastated Gili and Lombok.
In this video we checked out of the idoop hotel in Mataram city on Lombok island. We slept great, and the bed was extra large. We headed to the very nice local restaurant called Lesehan Ijo Gading. We had our very own peaceful hut to eat in. The food was incredible, with even fresh coconut water. The total bill was only 100,000rp.
After the delicious dinner, we ordered a taxi on the Grab app and headed to Bangsal ferry terminal to get to Gili Islands. On the way, we stopped for durian and tuak (coconut wine) to take to Gili. The public ferry took us to Gili Trawangan for 20,000rp each.

CRAZY SPICY Indonesian Food - Day Trip and Waterfall Adventure in Lombok, Indonesia!
Lombok is an amazing place for spicy Indonesian food!

I didn’t have too much time to travel in Lombok (though I’d love to visit again), but I really wanted to visit Tetebatu, at the base of the volcano one day. So we hired a car for the day and drove there, taking some stops to eat some legendary spicy Lombok Indonesian food along the way.
Inaq Dellah - This is the original restaurant in Lombok to eat Ayam Rarang, what I found out is one of the greatest stews I think I’ve ever had in my life. It’s basically just a pure chili stew, made with chicken. It’s so unbelievably flavor and packed with Lombok chili spice.
Total price - 180,000 IDR ($13.14)
Tetebatu, Lombok
Waterfall entrance - 20,000 IDR ($1.46) - We arrived to Tetebatu, and paid the small entrance fee to enter the waterfall. The waterfall was worth a visit, nothing too big, but I always enjoy walking through water on a hike to reach a waterfall.
Nasi Puyung at Nasi Balap Puyung Inaq Esun - One of the most legendary of Lombok Indonesian food dishes is nasi puyung. Again, we went out of our way to seek out the original. It’s a combination of fried shredded chicken, mixed with a heap of curry chili paste. It doesn’t really look that spicy, but it’s pretty amazingly spicy, I loved it. It’s kind of a 3 am kind of dish.
Total price - 88,000 IDR ($6.42) for 3
All day car and guide - I paid 700,000 IDR ($51.10), and Belen was a great guy, and the owner of highly recommended (this is not sponsored, I paid).
This was an amazing day trip in Lombok, and along with crazy spicy delicious Indonesian Lombok food, the sightseeing was spectacular as well. Lombok is a gorgeous island!

Ep11: MATARAM AND GILI TRAWANGAN, INDONESIA
Our travels take us from Kuta to a major city on the island of Lombok, called Mataram. Mataram is famous for yet more great street food, including Sate Rembiga and Ayam Taliwang.
From there we ventured to the Island of Gili Trawangan, known to most people as Gili T, because nobody can pronounce Trawangan! It's also known as the party island of the three Gili Islands (Gili T, Gili Meno, and Gili Air).
Gili T can be transversed by foot in about 30 minutes, which is good, because the island is devoid of motorized vehicles. The city moves on horse, bike, or boat.
This was island life, dusty and hot, and you never really feel clean. Locals spend their afternoons hosing down the dust in front of their shops and homes. Our shower had salt water coming out, but at least it was hot!
Luckily I found a great spot to setup the easel and I was able to crank out a descent painting.
Coming up after this episode we'll be making our way up to Thailand.
Thanks as always for following along!

SOLO TRAVEL INDONESIA, FROM LOMBOK TO BALI BY FERRY.
For reverse engineers Bali solo travel indonesia vlog, I'm traveling alone from Lombok to Bali taking the public ferry. If you want to travel like a local, you should use the ferry as it's cheap and the perfect way to see how Indonesian locals move between islands.
From Lombok to Bali by public ferry, you will start at Lembar in Lombok. The public ferry only costs around 40.000 IDR and will take you about 5 hours to get to Padang Bai in Bali.
If you're traveling Bali solo like I did, and you like to meet Bali locals, this is the perfect way to do so.
Mostly I use flights to move between the islands of Indonesia. This was my first experience going from Lombok to Bali by ferry.
I'm trying to start from zero and make a living out of traveling. Please follow my journey:

So, everybody in Indonesia thinks I'm a local. They are always surprised when I say I'm actually from The Netherlands (ok, grew up in..).
I've already traveled from Bali to Lombok by airplane. These days an airline ticket between Lombok and Bali costs you around 400.000 IDR. But this transportation method is still not very accessible for a lot of locals. So they travel by ferry.
And in this video, I wanted to travel from Lombok to Bali like a local.
First, I started with a ride, on small inland roads through small villages, to go from Mataram to Lembar. In Lembar, you can take the ferry to Lombok. Fun fact: currently, the Indonesian government is busy building the 3rd largest harbor of Indonesia on Lombok.
The ferry between Lembar and Padang Bai (the harbor in Bali) only costs 46.000IDR. But the thing is, that there is no real schedule. You just have to show up at the harbor, buy a ticket and wait until you can get on board. On the other side, the ferry goes 24/7. That means you can also make it a night trip.
Fun fact 2: On Nyepi, the Hindu new year on Bali there will be no ferries or flights from and to Bali. On Nyepi, there's no electricity at all in Bali. No candles, no nothing.
The trip from Lembar to Padang Bai took me 5 hours including one hour waiting in the harbor bai.
Before departure, there were a lot of merchants trying to sell you all kinds of stuff. From coffee and fresh cut fruit to fresh peanuts and t-shirts. You could even buy lunch packages and PopMie.
For my last transportation method, I used Grab. That's like the local Uber. What should have been a 1 to 1.5-hour drive from Padang Bai to Canggu took me almost 2.5 hours due to the heavy traffic. Roads are very small and the amount of cars is crazy. This Grab ride cost me 185K for the actual ride + 50K as a tip because the driver was begging for it.
I wouldn't say that this wasn't the best trip as it took me 11 hours to get to my destination. If my calculations are right, a trip by airplane (including 2 taxi rides and waiting at the Airport) would take me only 5 hours. Next to that, a trip by airplane would have cost me around 600K (400 for ticket and 2x100 for Grab). The Ferry costed me in total 380K including two taxi rides. So for less than twice the amount of money and twice the speed, I know which transportation method I'm going to use next time.
But if you're on a budget, if you have all the time in the world and if you want to travel like a local...You should definitely take the ferry.
TROPICAL CHRISTMAS IN LOMBOK AND GILI AIR ISLAND, INDONESIA
This video was taken during our Lombok and Gili trip in Indonesia on the 24th to 30th December 2018. Our travel details since we arrived until the day we left is written below,
First day (24th December 2018)
We took AirAsia direct flight from KL to Lombok at 16.55 PM. There was a delay and we took off 2 hours later than scheduled and it was a 3-hour flight meaning we arrived in Lombok at 10 PM. As our booked accommodation is in Senggigi, it took around 90 minutes to drive from Lombok airport which located in Praya. We hired OK-CAR Lombok Transport ( as our transportation from the airport to the hotel (on our arrival day) for IDR 200K (US$14) and from Bangsal harbour back to the airport (on our departure day) for IDR 300K (US$21). We arrived at our accommodation, Svarga Resort ( close to midnight. We loved Svarga so much! We took the room type called Neima which has a tropical theme and an outdoor private pool.
Second Day (25th December 2018)
We enjoyed the whole morning in the pool before we went to check out the nearby beach (Senggigi) and have late lunch in Happy Cafe ( and dinner with an awesome sunset view in Nuf' Said Warung (
Third Day (26th December 2018)
After breakfast, we hurried to meet our tour guide for a day, Mr Hery (+6282247429837), he took us around Lombok and made multiple stops, first stop was Sukarara Village, a village which famous for Lombok traditional weave and in there, we saw how the traditional weaves were manually made and it takes at least one month to complete an entire weave. Second stop was Sade Village, a village where Sasak tribe (native Lombok) live in their self-sufficient environment. Third stop, Tanjung Aan beach which is known for the clear water and soft sand. Fourth stop, Bukit Merese which is known for its beautiful views and fifth stop, Kuta beach which already modernise and we don't really like it that way. Mr Hery, our tour guide for a day did everything from driving us places, telling stories at each destinations, taking very good pictures of us (even how to pose), also he took great care of our belongings when we were swimming, he's a very nice tour guide and if you plan to go to Lombok, please consider to hire him as your driver and tour guide. Mr Hery charged us IDR 400K (US$28) for 10 hours drive and tour guide service and I can say it was totally worth it.
Fourth Day (27th December 2018)
We took around 1-hour drive from the hotel in Senggigi to Bangsal harbour. The normal charge from Senggigi to Bangsal harbour is usually IDR 150-200K (US$10-14), you can hire a taxi (BlueBird) or a car and driver from OK-CAR Lombok Transport ( or Mr Hery (+6282247429837). Make sure you book at least a day before the day. When we arrived in Bangsal harbour, we went straight to the ticket counter where there are signs with your destination like Gili Air, Gili Meno or Gili Trawangan. We took the public boat and we waited about 20 minutes until it was filled with 40 people. We arrived in Gili Air after about 30 minutes on the boat. We stayed in Gili Air Bungalows ( The accommodation was alright, good enough for small island scale. I can't say it's the cleanest room or pool in the world, but at least it has everything like air-con, comfortable bed, day bed, nice breakfast and water dispenser.
Fifth Day and Sixth Day (28-29 December 2018)
We spend a full day of our stay enjoying the pool, the beach, the cafes and restaurants. There are many options of cafes and restaurants you can choose from in Gili Air, and what left a mark in my heart was Chill Out Bar and Restaurant ( where I had a good steak on the island and Raja Bar and Restaurant ( where I had good pizza, calamari and good selection of wines on the island.
Last Day (30 December 2018)
We took a public boat from Gili Air back to Bangsal harbour at 3 PM. As we arrived in Bangsal harbour, our driver from OK-CAR Lombok Transport was already there to drive us back to the airport to catch our flight back to KL.
Thank you for watching and reading! See you on the next video xxx
The Chase: A Lombok Story
The coastal village of Labuan Pandan, located in Lombok, Indonesia faces environmental problems such as the destruction of natural habitats like mangroves and corals, as well as the issue of waste management. However, local youth group KOMPAK is working to solve these problems.
A group of Singaporean students and teachers set out to Labuan Pandan to learn more about these issues, and work with KOMPAK on some of their projects.

Your visual travel guide to Lombok, Indonesia
A few days driving around Lombok. This is a wonderful and not so crowded place in Indonesia where you can find really good surf, some interesting hikes, and many beaches to relax on. It is growing really much every year so more and more tourists go there. This is a place you want to visit before it gets as crowded as Bali.

Indonesia (Lombok) - Bros Reunion In Paradise
After some months spent in Taiwan, Kodamasia project is just starting. My first stop is Indonesia, and more precisely, Lombok. This island located at the South of Bali was the perfect place to meet my brother from another mother, as it's a little paradise on Earth (for surfers especially). Indonesia is a muslim country, and the Mosque Masjid Gede Mataram is one of the biggest of South East Asia. Indonesia is a very special country, quite poor, conditions of living are not easy, this island is barely developped, but people are incredibly welcoming and nice with you. Everyone speaks a perfect english, even these 5 years old kids trying to sell you bracelets every 10 minutes when having diner.
Appart from the beautiful beaches, nice bars, good restaurants and amazing people, this island is very famous because the 2nd biggest volcano in Indonesia is located in Lombok: The Rinjani. It took us 3 days to hike the volcano. So far, it's the hardest thing I have ever done. We walked more than 30 hours in 3 days, with heavy backpacks. Hopefully, our guides and porters were helping us a lot. They are paid 12€ per day to climb this volcano twice a week, which made me think a lot about how priviledged we are in Europe. But still, they are so friendly, smiling, and nice to us. We ate 3 times a day during 3 days the exact same food, went to the toilets in the nature, went from 40° to 5°, slept on hard rocks, and finally, we did it. I will never forget this incredible experience and I recommend to everyone who wants to push his limits to do so if visiting Indonesia.
Oh, and of course, KODAMAS WERE HERE TO HELP US FINDING OUR WAY

Best Snorkelling in LOMBOK! Visit the Southwest Gili's (WeWillNomad)
Unlike the famous Gili Islands in northwest Lombok, the Southwest Gilis are largely uninhabited and have yet to be discovered by mass travellers.
We spend a few days in the peaceful village of Taun - situated on a wide, placid bay in Sekotong with a sparkling turquoise ocean and dazzling white sand stretching in a wide sweep around the bay.
In the distance just out in the calm bay are the three lovely islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudak (and the tiny island of Gili Kedis) - all easily accessible by local outrigger boats. A small sign in the nearby village will direct you to the local boat hire area, where you can arrange boat trips out to Gili Nanggu and the other islands.
You will find more information on the SouthWest of Lombog on our blog:

LOMBOK ISLAND, Indonesia - Mount Rinjani to Kuta
LOMBOK ISLAND, Indonesia - After visiting SUMBA ISLAND, I had one week left and decided to fly to the island of Lombok. Because one week was not enough to do some partying on the GILI islands and also exploring the main land, I decided to skip this part and go on an adventure without a lot of tourists instead.
--- ITINERARY ---
-MOUNT RINJANI--
After relaxing two days in Bali, I flew with Lion Air to Lombok (The airport is in the southern region). I didn´t know where to go, I didn´t have a transporation and I didn´t have any accomodation. It was already an irresponsible start which leads into something amazing. Because of the heat, I decided to go to the mountain regions first. On the airport I met a local man who had an sister with an scooter, she arrived one hour later and gave me it for almost nothing. So, I was on my way to Tetebatu, a small but beautifull village surrounded by endless rice fields. I found a really nice place to stay. The owner of the accomodation knew somebody (again) who is doing tours to the Mount Rinjani (I thought it´s closed since the erruption) but there are a handful of people who has a permit to do the hike at one of the neighbours mountain where you have an absolutly amazing view of the vulcano (If there is no storm :D). We started the next day, walked for 7 hours and arrived at the base camp (which you can see in the video). Next moring at 3 AM we started our way to the summit to 3200 meters. I have never felt so cold in my life before. It was freezing with wind gusts more than 100 km/h and I had only a pullover and a thin jacket with me (because they told me I don´t need more, just my camera gear :D) After arriving on the summit, we couldn´t see a lot, it was impossible to fly with the drone or make videos without having a wed lens after 10 seconds. That´s the reason why we shortly start our 12 hours walk back to the Tetebatu village. It´s all about the adventure :)
-TETEBATU-
It´s a really quiet place to relax. I just drove/walked arround and figured out what the locals are doing in the rice fields. I tried also to get an beautiful sunrise there for two times but it was always raining - FAIL :) (They told me normally it´s always good weather?)
In the nearby villages you can see the process of traditional bamboo and earthen handwork.
- BENANG KELAMBU WATERFALL -
One of the most popular waterfall in Lombok. If you go there very early, nobody will interrupt you:) At this time, it´s really beautiful and you will feel like lost in the jungle. The best way is to stay in Tetebatu, it´s 1 hour drive away. If you are planning a tour from Kuta, it will be very overcrowded because the normally arrive arround lunch time. You can also rent a scooter and drive from Kuta in morning.
- KUTA -
Kuta Lombok and Kuta Beach are probably very touristic but it´s the perfect place to set up your base in the south. From there you can reach all beaches within 2 hours by scooter (Scooter rentals are everywhere). Also for surfing it´s a good place to get arround. They have good restaurants, many hostels and also nightlife everday at a different location. You will find always empty beaches if you don´t choose the popular ones (The remote ones are even mostly more beautiful). Sometimes you have to drive a little bit off-road but it´s worth the journey.

HOW TO GET TO LOMBOK 2019 [VLOG #17]
Hello Happiness Crossing Family ????
We are on the way to LOMBOK, Indonesia! We decided to take our Scooter with us on the slow ferry which is the longest way but also the CHEAPEST! As we are all about BUDGET travelling!
In this video we show you HOW to get to Lombok and how much it will cost you.
We highly recommend to take the slow ferry to stay on the budget and it was only 3 1/2 hours for us which is pretty good considering most people tell you it will take 5 hours.
Because we already had our scooter with us we could easily just drive out of the ferry and head straight to KUTA, Lombok. :)
We will stay here in Kuta for the next days to explore the beautiful beaches down South and share EVERYTHING with you guys!
Have a good night everyone from LOMBOK! :)
Thanks for watching, if you enjoyed this video please make sure to SUBSCRIBE and LEAVE A COMMENT. :)

Hospitalized in Lombok ♥ Boho Diaries | Ep.6 Mataram
????
☮️
It's crazy how getting really sick can help you really appreciate something we tend to forget about while we're concerned with much of our daily life and trivial challenges or successes...our health. This was a true test of Indonesia, sending both of us off the boat and into the emergency hospital... life is a magical adventure in every way thats for sure. And even in it's worst we must find the lessons it brings forward.
We're happy, healthy, and much better now! The Lombok medical services were first class. :D
