Londrangar, Iceland
Lóndrangar are a pair of single sharp and steep cliffs, or volcanic plugs of basalt, that have been hewn out from softer surrounding rock by erosion. At 75 m and 61 m respectively, they are a singular sight, rising above and outside the ocean front due east across from Malarrif and some 10 km from Hellnar, on the southern coast of Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Gatklettur Arch, Iceland
Located near Arnarstapi, at Snæfellsnes Peninsula, West Iceland.
Gatklettur (“Hole cliff”) is a cliff with a circular arch. Rock Arch shows how distinctive wave action has eroded the rocks into arches and beautiful swirled patterns. There is great birdlife around the cliffs and pretty flora surrounding the area.

It is a rock and natural land bridge.

Today is my 8th day in Iceland and my 7th Day into my Ring road trip

Les colonnes basaltiques du Lóndrangar sont situées en Islande. Ce site est très fréquenté par les touristes. On suit une passerelle qui nous amène jusqu'à un promontoire au bord de la mer.
Le Lóndrangar est composé de deux rochers de basalte qui portent respectivement les noms de Kristnidrangur (pilier chrétien) et Heiðnidrangur (pilier païen). Ces rochers sont les restes d'un ancien cône volcanique érodé par l'océan.
Les vagues recouvrent la base des falaises d'un mouvement de va-et-vient perpétuel. Lorsque les vagues se retirent, des petites cascades émergent ici et là à travers les rochers. C'est vraiment spectaculaire!

Seaside Cliffs of Arnarstapi, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Iceland [Drone Video]
The coastline between Arnarstapi and Hellnar is a natural natural reserve which features breathtaking cliff formations with pillars, arches, natural stone bridges and grottoes. One of the more famous arches is called Gatklettur.
Arnarstapi is a small town near the glacier Snæfellsjökull. The region is Snæfellsbær which lies on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Western Iceland.
This video features some aerial footage taken with the DJI Phantom 4 drone.

During my 4 day vacation to Iceland, I'd scheduled a trip around the island, but the schedule didn't work out. I readjusted to allow me a visit to the Snaefellsnes peninsula, and ended up with a few impromptu explorations. Spotting a strange structure from a distance, a bit of mobile research led me to this location - Lóndrangar - along the west shoreline of the peninsula.
I couldn't believe the view.
This short clip speaks volumes.
