Powerlifting Highlights 2018
Some highlights from our first powerlifting meet and a fundraising deadlift event for the SPCA.
Conquer 2018 was hosted by Rhino Powerlifting Club South Africa at Westview High School, Port Elizabeth on the 15th of September 2018. Rhino Powerlifting is affiliated to the Global Powerlifting Committee (GPC).
This was our first meet and it was a good one. All three of us achieved new PRs, with Derrick squatting 145kg, Fran pulling 185kg and I was really happy with my 210kg deadlift.
Deadlifts for SPCA was hosted by Rhino Powerlifting at Profiles Gym in Port Elizabeth on the 10th of November 2018.
We didn't train for this, but entered to support the SPCA and Rhino Powerlifting. I ended up pulling 215kg for a new PR. It was probably my toughest lift to date, taking about 8 seconds from floor to lockout.
2018 was a great introduction to powerlifting. I'm definitely hooked and looking forward to training and more meets in 2019.
