Trains on the Long Bien Bridge Hanoi (Vietnam)
Long Bien Bridge (Vietnamese: Cầu Long Biên) is a historic cantilever bridge across the Red River that connects two parts of the city of Hanoi, Vietnam.
The bridge was built in 1903 by the French architects of Daydé & Pillé.
When it was built, it was one of the longest bridges in Asia with the length of 2,500 m. For the French colonial government, the construction was of strategic importance in securing control of northern Vietnam. From 1899 to 1902, more than 3,000 Vietnamese took part in the construction.
The Long Bien Bridge was heavily bombarded during Vietnam War due to its critical position (the only bridge at that time across the Red River and connect Hanoi to the main port Haiphong). The first attack took place in 1967.
The defence of Long Bien Bridge continues to play a large role in Hanoi's self-image and is often extolled in poetry and song.
Some parts of the original structure remain intact, while large sections have been built later to repair the holes. Only half of the bridge retains its original shape.

Slice of life Vietnam - Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi
Long Bien Bridge in Hanoi was one of Asia's great bridges when inaugurated by the French in 1901 at the height of empire building. During the Vietnam War, it was a key supply line, connecting Hanoi with the port city of Haiphong.
It was repeatedly bombed by US fighters and was bravely defended. Its war-time symbolism has made it a very Hanoian icon in modern times just as city officials are deliberating on its demolition or a major upgrade.
This video was shot in 2009 at an event held in preparation for Hanoi's 1000th anniversary celebrations in 2010.
The girls at the end are spruiking nuoc voi using rhyme and Vietnamese legend. Nuoc voi is a very Hanoian specialty tea.

LONG BIEN BRIDGE, HANOI Vietnam: Journey Across Long Bien Bridge - HANOI, Vietnam
Come with us on a journey on foot across Long Bien Bridge, Hanoi, Vietnam. Along the way, you will see the congested motorcycle traffic making its way across both sides of the bride, which crosses the red River. You will also witness locals taking their exercises on the bridge and witness the arrival of the longest train in Vietnam, as it arrives at Long Bien Station. Long Bien links the two Hanoi regions of Hoan Kiem and Long Bien Bridge was built between 1899-1902 and was opened in 1903, so it 112 years old at the date this video was uploaded. It was originally called the Paul Doumer Bridge and was designed by Gustav Eiffel, the same architect who designed the Eiffel Tower, in Paris. At 2.4 km (1.5 miles) long, it was one of the longest bridges in Asia when it was built. It was attacked by the Americans during the Vietnam war, when the centre span was knocked out in 1967, but this did not cause too much disruption. However, it was rendered unusable for a year when it was hit by laser guided smart bombs in May 1972.

Cau Long Bien, Long Bien Bridge:
Over the past 100 years, Long Bien Bridge has been a witness to all the historical events that made the capital city like it is today. The bridge is the symbol to Hanoi in the 20th Century.
The bridge was started in August 1898. After 5 years, in February 1902 the bridge was being used for the first time. The architects Daydé & Pillé of Paris designed and put the cantilever bridge across the Red river a reality. Helping them were the 3000 local Vietnamese workers who dived in the water to start the base and hammer in the nuts and bolts. Some of them died while making the bridge. The bridge is 2.4km long, one of the longest in Asia at that time. The bridge has 20 cylinder legs of 13.5m tall from the lowest water level. A special note about the bridge is the use of left side rather than the normal right side of the road on any other place in Vietnam.
During the French colonial era, Long Bien Bridge held a strategic importance to the control of Northern of Vietnam. During the Vietnam War, the bridge helped connect Hanoi to the important Hai Phong port. Tons of rice were transported over the bridge to the battle field in the South to support the army. The bridge witnessed the return of victorious Vietnamese troop on the train from the battle field during the war with the French. Noticing the strategic location, during the second Vietnam War, Long Bien Bridge was heavily bombed by 20 USAF F-105 fighter-bombers in 1967. However, despite the attack, the transportation of food and ammunitions were not disrupted. The Vietnamese bravely defended the dearly important bridge. Despite standing after the bombing, the bridge suffered severe damage. It closed for only a year in 1972 when the first coordinated laser guided bombing was used. After that, with only half of the bridge retains its original shape, the bridge was rebuilt to cover the holes. A project with the French government is being undertaken to restore the original appearance of the bridge.
Today, Long Bien Bridge is still being used by train, mopeds, bicycles and pedestrians. Other heavier vehicles use other nearby bridge to prevent damaging the century old bridge. For many visitors, Long Bien Bridge is a prestigious symbol of the perseverance of local troop, protecting the important blood line during the Vietnam War. This is also true for the elderly who has participated in defending the bridge years ago. Even now, the bridge still has its poetic significance with people living along the river bank, selling their products on the bridge. Standing on the bridge at sunrise or sunset brings anyone a sense of nostalgic of the old Hanoi.

Hanoi to Hai Phong By train in Vietnam / ベトナム鉄道の車窓から「ハノイからハイフォンへ」
Vietnam Railway's Hanoi-Hai Phong route is one of the most important railway lines in northern Vietnam and is used by many tourists and locals.
The journey takes approximately 2 - 2.5 hours.
Although it will take a little longer than the bus route between Hanoi and Hai Phong, it is a good option for railway enthusiasts.
In addition, I think that the railway station is located in the center of the town and easier to access than the bus station to Haiphong.
Hai Phong is located at the mouth of the Red River (Songkoy River), about 100 kilometers from the capital Hanoi, and occupies an important port town.
It is also a hub city for tourists in the northern coastal area such as Halong Bay sightseeing.

Tàu hỏa Hà Nội - Hanoi street train | Hanoi Vietnam
❤️ Hanoi is the city where I was born and grow up. I was living very near the railway. However, I happened to know about the coffee shops on Hanoi train street from my friend as a foreigner.
❤️ The street living along with the railway is an extremely interesting street, called “the train street”. This street is unique due to its positioning between residential buildings, and the daily life of people living there. The internal clock of the people living there is so well adjusted, that minutes before the train arrives everyone is outside to pick up all their belongings, and make room for the slowly arriving train. This thing which is very familiar with the locals turns out to be a very interesting thing to the tourists.
❤️ There are many coffee shops on Hanoi Train Street, which is regarded as Unique meeting point for the railway community including locals and tourists. It is a very interesting thing to know the schedule of the trains, and experience the train passing by while drinking coffee.
❤️ There is another railway which is in the middle of Long Bien bridge which is regarded as the cultural symbol of Hanoi.
