Rock Point to Turkey Point - Rural Ontario Bike Tour - Day 3 of 9
This video summarizes day 3 of my 9 day solo bicycle trip through South-Western Ontario, Canada. All of the clips in the video were filmed on Monday, May 21, 2018.
Starting at Rock Point Provincial Park, I packed up my campsite and headed towards Dunnville, ON. After a brief stop for breakfast in Dunnville, I crossed the Grand River and continued west along the Lake Erie coast. I headed inland when reached Erie St and passed through the small community of Selkirk. From there I continued north and turned west onto Concession 2 Walpole which took me through the community of Cheapside, and also past the Esso Nanticoke Oil Refinery. I turned and headed south again when I reached the Nanticoke Industrial Park, which is home to the U. S. Steel Canada Lake Erie Works (Stelco Lake Erie Works) steel mill. From there I continued along the coastal road into the community of Port Dover where I explored around and stopped for lunch. After that I continued west through Port Ryerse, Fishers Glen, and Normandale before reaching Turkey Point Provincial Park, which was my campground for the night. I also explored down to the community of Turkey Point to see the beach and to eat some dinner.

The bike I used for this trip is a New York made Linear Recumbent Bike which I believe is from around 2004. I carried my gear in 2 Giant Waterproof Panniers, and mounted my tent and sleeping pad on the top of the rack.

Some highlights of my trip to the sandy shores of Long Point and Turkey Point located on Lake Erie in Southern Ontario, Canada.
Long Point Provincial Park Camping May 2017
Long Point camping trip over the Victoria Day long weekend.
Camping here is like entering a different world. You almost feel like you've gone down south. The towns you drive through and shops you visit are very cute. We didn't get to go to the beach, but I imagine the water would be fantastic minus the rain and wind. There are a ton of bird species - bring your binoculars! For the avid boater or canoeist, there is a marsh you can explore that opens up to Lake Erie. The lighthouse at the top of Long Point is not accessible by land, but you can get there via boat. There's also a conservation area about a 10 minute drive away offering trails through the wetlands.
Lots of wildlife and nature to be seen. Would definitely recommend this park and visit here again.

Long Point / Port Rowan - 2019 Flood
Video Taken July 26, 2019. The camp sites appear to be in good shape, however just looking at water levels, they are one rain away of being flooded yet again.
April 26 - Lake Erie came ashore and temporarily flooded the Long Point Causeway near the turnoff to Hastings Drive and Erie Boulevard.
May 13 - Long Point Provincial Park closed the park until May 21 due to near-record water levels
July 8 - Long Point Provincial Park closes all 4 campgrounds until July 29.
