A scenic flight view of Long Reef Point Collaroy in Sydney Australia.
At the north end there is Long Reef Headland, a protected aquatic reserve, and a golf course. A walk to the top of the headland can often be rewarded by views of migrating whales.
There are offshore reefs in the north (the Long Reef Bomboras) and beach breaks running the entire 1.6 kilometres south to Dee Why and, on weekdays there's every chance of getting a quality wave to yourself.

Hi! my name is Hai (pronounced as Hi). Whenever I travel or meet someone for the first time people always greet me and say ‘Hi Hai!’ So I thought I would call my channel the same name.
I’m a passionate creator, with a love of adventure. I have a Master’s Degree of Design, and I started off as an illustrator, evolving into a graphic designer, digital designer, motion graphic animator, video editor, travel & lifestyle photographer and videographer.
I’ve had over 15 years experience in the Advertising and Marketing industry which has really built my skills and experience. I have experience in managing a team of designers & developers to design and build ideas, marketing collaterals, websites and creating motion videos, branding and advertisements for small to large companies.
My main love is travelling. I often capture videos and photos of landscapes & lifestyle moments during any free time I get, which is my creative escape from the daily grind.
My specialism is in telling outdoor, travel and adventure stories through photography, video and 360-degree imagery. I’ve been fortunate to travel around the world capturing scenic beautiful landscapes and horizons with my Nikon D810 and my Phantom 4 Drone equipment. I love the outdoors and always have done, so to spend time in nature is absolutely thrilling for me.
I am currently building my global portfolio, building a collection of stunning images that will look beautiful in any home or office.

Hang Gliding - Long Reef, Collaroy NSW Australia Nov 2010 - GoPro HD
A great afternoon of warm north easterly breeze - perfect for flying Long Reef at Collaroy NSW. The two local pilots Nils and Craig helped me off before jumping in the air themselves and demonstrating some perfectly executed top landings.
On this day there were plenty of remote glider planes in the air, one getting so close to a pilot he grabbed it.
On my previous flight here I landed on the small sandy spit at the base of the point (today the tide is very very low), but Nils and Craig demonstrated the main beach landing while I hovered at the point until it was my turn, the sight as I glided into the beach was majestic :-)

Long Reef Headland Trail, Sydney Northern Beaches
A tour of the Long Reef Headland Trail, also known as Long Reef Point, located on the Sydney Northern Beaches.
The Long Reef Headland Trail is a loop of approximately 3kms.

Our start point to the track is at Fishermans Beach, located just off Anzac Avenue, Collaroy. Take the turnoff for the Long Reef Golf Club and you will find plenty of parking. Free street parking is also available in Anzac Avenue and nearby streets in Collaroy Basin.
There is a large amount of variety on this walk, with dirt paths, cemented paths, wooden boardwalks and even a bit of sand thrown in too. This makes it worthy of adding to a list of the best walks in Sydney.
Note: You may notice lots of helicopter noise in the video. Sadly, at the time of filming, there was a police search and rescue operation in progress for a boat which had capsized off the point. A man, believed to be in his 60s, lost his life. There was a large NSW Police and Surf Rescue presence largely around Fishermans Beach, where the body was recovered. I chose not to record any of those activities, so the very first part of the trail is not shown in this video.

Sydney Birding Hotspots - #3 Long Reef Aquatic Reserve
Next up in my 'Sydney birding hotspots' series. Long Reef Aquatic Reserve.
Highlights include Cormorants, Australasian Darter, Pelican, Oystercatcher, Terns and more.
Long Reef Aquatic Reserve is the oldest aquatic reserve in NSW and is centred on the extensive intertidal rocky shores that fringe the prominent Long Reef headland.
A diversity of marine life is associated with the range of rocky shore habitats and different degrees of wave exposure around the headland.
The aquatic reserve also includes Fishermans Beach at Collaroy, a sheltered sandy beach on the northern side of the headland, the very exposed and rip-dominated northern end of Long Reef Beach, and some very small areas of sandy beach in amongst the rocky shore on Long Reef headland itself.
The reserve is also an important site for many species of migratory shorebirds

Long Reef Point - Australia
Long Reef is a prominent headland in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. Connected to the mainland by a tombolo, the reef has an extensive wave-cut platform. Long Reef is a popular recreational destination and is one of the more interesting geological areas in Sydney.
Some of the oldest rocks in the Sydney area may be seen at Long Reef. Primarily from the Triassic they are from the Narrabeen Group of sedimentary rocks. The cliffs of Long Reef are composed of Bald Hill Claystone above Bulgo Sandstone.

High resolustion drone footage from the northern beaches including Manly Beach, Collaroy Beach, Fishermans Beach, Long Reef Point, Long Reef Beach, Dee Why Beach, Dee Why Lagoon, Dee Why rock pool, Curl Curl Beach, and Freshwater Beach.
I start my hike from Collaroy beach and walk all the way back to Manly beach. I also capture some video clips of amazing birds and flowers along the way, including the rainbow lorikeet bird.
Collaroy Beach - NSW - Australia
Collaroy is a suburb in northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Collaroy is 22 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Warringah Council. It is part of the Northern Beaches region.
History
This area was originally part of Narrabeen but was renamed after the collier S.S. Collaroy ran aground on the beach in 1881 during a storm.[2][3] It was refloated and later wrecked on the Californian coast in 1889.[4] Most of Collaroy’s development has occurred since the mid twentieth century.
Collaroy Beach Post Office opened on 12 February 1923. Collaroy Plateau Post Office opened on 1 April 1949 and closed in 1988. Collaroy Plateau West Post Office opened on 1 November 1967 and was renamed Collaroy Plateau in 1996.[5]
