Leiston Long Shops Final Fling 2008
Leiston Long Shop Museum was set up to preserve the memory of the Garrett's works, which for several decades was the main employer in Leiston. Making everything from traction engines to tin openers and exporting them all around the world. The works founded by the Garret family declined and finally closed in the early 80's. But it's regal buildings still dominate this small Suffolk town on the east coast of England.

This was a 6.5 mile day walk along the Leiston to Thorpeness section of the Suffolk Coast path that also featured an inland return journey along a disused railway line. It was a very hot day, with temperatures up to 28 degrees celsius! Thorpeness is a lovely village on the coast with lots of amazing architecture and history.
