Taoyuan Lantern Festival in Longtan District to feature Taiwan’s first round-the-lake lantern show
The 15th annual Taoyuan Lantern Festival will be held in the city''s Hakka-influenced Longtan District, and organizers will be handing out rooster-themed handheld lanterns in celebration of the upcoming Year of the Rooster. A 12-meter-tall main lantern is set to feature in a show stretching along the banks of Longtan Lake. Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan held a colorful ceremony to officially start the countdown to his city’s annual lantern festival next month. This year’s Taoyuan Lantern Festival will run from February 10 to 19 at Longtan Lake, and the performances are expected to reflect the area’s heavy Hakka influences. This iteration of the Taoyuan Lantern Festival will feature Taiwan’s first-ever lantern show to surround an entire lake, and will also have fireworks and musical performances alongside parades and other local traditions, in what promises to be a real visual feast for visitors.

這潭池可是龍潭最著名的地標喔！融合自然景觀和傳統文化，來到這裡，可以欣賞湖光山色，許多人特別來此等待朝陽或是晚霞，也有人專程來此祈福。在觀光大池內，還有座「南天宮」，就建立在湖中央的水面上，氣勢磅礡，是當地人的信仰中心。有幾處橋可以從湖邊走到南天宮，從龍潭觀光吊橋走，可以看橋下的湖景，是許多觀光客喜歡拍照留念的位置。以白色為底的九曲橋，具有傳統元素，從九曲橋上拍南天宮，特別有在地人文氣息。
