Ride to Longwa Village In Nagaland: A Village Half In India Half In Myanmar
Welcome to my third video on Border of India-Myanmar. This time I visited the border town of Longwa, situated in Mon District of Nagaland. The village of Longwa is famous for its Cheif's palace which lies half in India and half in Myanmar. It is said that he sleeps in Myanmar and works in India. To unveil the truth behind this story, I started my ride from Sivasagar in Assam to Longwa in Nagaland and found that indeed, the story is true. The gate of the house acts as the border where one side of the gate lies in India and other in Myanmar. Truly Longwa is an altogether a different type of place in India and a must-visit place for all the travelers in India. Link to my ride to other border towns of India are:

Longwa Village – One village, two nations
One of the largest villages in Mon district is Longwa.
This village has traditional large houses made of wood with thatched roof, located 42 kms from the main Mon town at the Myanmarese border. You would be amazed to know that, the boundary between India and Myanmar passes across this village dividing the chief’s (Angh) house into two- half of Chief’s house in India and his other half of house in Myanmar.
Last part of this video is the Angh's house.

The international border between India and Myanmar runs through longwa village of Mon District in Nagaland. Even the 'Angh' or kings palace is divided in two parts where one part lies in India while the other in Myanmar. Due to its remoteness this village is a mystery place. The citizens of longwa enjoys dual citizenship of both India and Myanmar.
Headhunter Village of Longwa, Nagaland India
Longwa Village, home to the last of the headhunters in Nagaland, is located in the most northeasterly corner of Nagaland. This village is the best example of traditional Naga life, with it's people, the Konyaks, still residing in wooden thatched huts built on the mountainsides near the border of Myanmar, offers some of the most scenic beauty in all of Nagaland.
Located approximately 42km from the main town of Mon, it is one of the biggest villages in the district. Situated along the India-Myanmar international border, Longwa has a road connecting it to Loji village in Myanmar’s Sagaing Division, that also provides access to larger Tatmadaw military towns of Lahe and Yengjong on Myanmar side. This village has the home of chief, or Angh as it's called in Nagamese.
“The Angh” is the hereditary chief or the king of the Konyak Naga. The interesting feature of Longwa village is that – the Angh of the village rules over more than 70 villages extended up to Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Arunachal Pradesh.
Villagers do not need a visa to move around freely to Myanmar. Technically, the villagers of Longwa have dual citizenships - one for India and another for Myanmar.

A little bit about my channel...
I mainly focus on creating videos about my travel to Cambodia and the Khmer life in the US. My goal is to document different Cambodian communities around the world. When I'm not traveling, I like to make vlogs about my daily life, which include enjoying good food with friends and family. I do have a background in tech so occasionally I'll review the gear that I'm using to make these videos.
A little about myself...
I came to the US with my father and mother at the age of 1, in the midst of the Khmer Rouge genocide. I lived for almost 40 years without ever returning to Cambodia. It was only recently that I made my first trip back to my homeland and since then, it has been my goal to learn about Cambodia's rich history, religion and document life of Cambodian people living there. In between my trips, I try to visit the different Khmer communities all over the US to see the differences and similarities between them. Please, I do apologize that my Cambodia language skills aren't the greatest, but I am trying to relearn!

Solo Girl Travels to Village of Head Hunters - Longwa | India Myanmar Border | Nagaland
I dared a SOLO trip to LONGWA, the village of Head Hunters in Nagaland, India which falls in Mon District on India Myanmar International Border. The place has surreal natural beauty, rich heritage and a peculiar vibe as half of it is a part of Myanmar and half of India. If you happen to be in this village, you'll keep treading between the two countries.

It is said that the king of Longwa (locally known as ‘Angh) eats in Myanmar and sleeps in India because a part of his house is located in India, and apart, in Myanmar. He has 60 wives in total and he rules over more than 70 villages extended to Myanmar and Arunachal Pradesh — a lavish life indeed!
And that’s not it, the king, in addition to all the residents of Longwa, hold dual citizenship for India and Myanmar, though it’s a different thing that most of them mustn’t have stepped outside of the tiny boundaries of Mon in their life.
