The Loolkandura estate was the first tea plantation estate in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) started in 1867 by Englishman James Taylor, it is situated in Kandy District.

????The Loolkandura Estate, also known as Loolcondera Estate, is the first tea plantation estate in Sri Lanka and is situated in Rikillagaskada in the Central Province. There are many attractions to visit in this estate especially in relation to the pioneer of Ceylon tea, James Taylor. These attractions include the following,

Kondagala is a picturesque mountain located right behind James Taylor’s cottage at Loolkandura Estate. It is a popular hiking spot with a 300 meters hike to reach the top of the mountain. Hiking Kondagala exposes the hiker to beautiful views in the surrounding areas especially with mist-laden across the valleys. One specialty of Kondagala is that the rock shows two completely different characteristics depending on the weather. On a sunny day, the peak of the mountain is burning hot while on a rainy day you might experience extremely cold weather with the mist-laden around and covering the view from the top.

Kondagala is popular for providing 360 degrees view of the amazing valleys in the area. Be mindful when at the top because of the mist-laden around which could make it hard even to see the person next to you making it easy to walk and fall off the edge of the cliff.

Hiking to the Kukulagala Mountain is with medium reachable task which spends about 3 hours. There are different routes used by villagers. This range is almost covered by pines forest therefore it is a journey through Pines. There are forest patches and bushes in between Pinus. Therefore some part of paths are very slippery due to the pinus leaves. The basis of hiking is passing the Pinus and get on to the neck of the mountain. Then you can get on to the top of Diyathalawa. There are different shaped rocks found on top of Diyathalawa/ Kukulagala.
On top of Diyathalawa Mountain you can get a superb view towards surrounding. Once we have been there for a day hike and we were there for until sunset .

small friend group goes to gongala mountain for a fun by bike. there is building such as telephone or signal towers. very cool wind and such a hard road to go by bike. we recommended to everyone to go there and enjoyed.
