This Part covers our Kobe sightseeing tour with Kobe City Loop Bus, visit at Sannomiya Station and Kobe City Centre, Nankinmachi (Chinatown) which famous with Kobe Beef, Nunobiki Herb Garden and evening visit to Meriken Park. Fourth Day (24th October 2015) in Himeji and Kobe, Japan!
My first time doing a narration! lol never thought my voice would be so low. I'm sorry if my voice will make you feel sad towards the end of this video hahaha well since I already said few things through narration, there wasn't that much to write....I think hehe
Himeji Castle, Himeji.
Main reason why we went to Himeji and Kobe was because we bought Japan West 5 days rail pass and it covered the high speed train (shinkansen) going towards the area so we wanted to try riding it. It was a fun experience! We got there in less than 2 hours.
The castle was so pretty! They said that this castle is the prettiest in Japan because it is so white? lol I'm not sure about this. Well at least we managed to visit a castle (we were still a bit bitter as we didn't have time to go to Osaka Castle on previous day) so I was happy enough. The area was really peaceful since it was located far from the main region (like Osaka).

Shin-Kobe Ropeway & Nunobiki Herb Garden, Kobe
Since we reached there pretty late (not really late, it was like 4pm?), we decided to get the night entry (it starts at 5pm and it is almost half the full day price so yeay!) but the downside is that we couldn't go to the garden area but hey since we already saw cosmos flowers (and others too) the day before, we weren't that hurt.
That place was so romantic I'm like nuuuuuuuuuuu ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ (single people alert!) and all of us were like we're so gonna come back here with our husbands for our honeymoon later hahaha

Matsuyama Castle (松山城, Matsuyamajō), also known Bitchu-Matsuyama Castle to differentiate it from Matsuyama Castle in Shikoku, stands on a steep mountain north of Takahashi's town center. It is the oldest surviving castle in Japan and the only mountaintop castle among the twelve original castles which have survived the post-feudal age intact. At an elevation of 430 meters it is also Japan's highest.
Matsuyama Castle was originally constructed in 1240 when castles primarily served as defensive fortresses and, accordingly, were built on steep mountains that were difficult to attack. They were not the great status symbols and administrative and cultural centers yet that castles became in the 16th century when the lords started to build them on more easily accessible hilltops and in the flatlands. Even today, Matsuyama Castle is not easily accessed, and visitors must hike for about 20 minutes to reach the castle keep from the nearest parking lot. The approach passes the ruined foundations of former castle structures and then leads through multiple successive circles of defense before reaching the innermost castle grounds and the castle keep. Views over the town can be enjoyed from several points along the way, but not from the castle keep itself.
Typical for mountaintop castles, Matsuyama Castle's keep is with only two stories relatively small. Inside the keep there are displays explaining the history of the castle and the efforts to preserve it in Japanese, including interesting photographs about the big renovations of 1940, 1960 and 2003.
By car
On weekdays, cars can access the castle's upper parking lot from where it is a 20 minute walk to the castle. On weekends and holidays from March to late December, however, private cars are only allowed as far as the lower parking lot from where it is a 45 minute walk or five minute shuttle bus ride (300 yen round trip, departures every 15 minutes) to the upper parking lot.
By taxi
Take a taxi from Bitchu-Takahashi Station to the castle's upper parking lot (15 minutes, 1500 yen from the station) from where it is an additional 600 meter, 20 minute hike to the castle.
Alternatively, from March to November Takahashi Kanko operates four scheduled shuttle taxis per day between the station and the upper parking lot for 430 yen one way per person. Reservations are required, but can be made upon arrival at the station.
By bus
Take the Youme Town Shuttle Bus (100 yen) or Takahashi City Loop Bus (160 yen) from the Takahashi Bus Center next to Bitchu-Takahashi Station to Matsuyamajo Tojoguchi or Matsuyamajo Tozanguchi bus stop respectively, from where it is a two kilometer, one hour climb to the castle.
On foot
It takes about 80 minute to walk all the way from Bitchu-Takahashi Station to Matsuyama Castle.
Hours: 9:00 to 17:30 (until 16:30 from October to March)
Closed: December 28 to January 4
Admission: 300 yen (castle only)

Matsumoto Castle (Matsumotojō) is one of the most complete and beautiful among Japan's original castles. It is a hirajiro - a castle built on flat area rather than on a hill or mountain. Matsumoto Castle is distinctive having both a secondary donjon and a turret adjoined to its main keep. The castle structures, combined with their characteristic black wainscoting, give off an air of grandeur and poise.
Matsumotojo's main castle keep and its smaller, secondary donjon were built from 1592 to 1614. Both these structures were well-fortified as peace was not yet fully achieved at the time. In 1635, when military threats had ceased, a third, barely defended turret and another for moon viewing were added to the castle. The wooden interior of Matsumoto Castle gives an authentic feeling unlike that felt at many other castles rebuilt of ferro-concrete. Interesting features of the castle include steep wooden stairs, openings to drop stones onto invaders, openings for archers, as well as an observation deck at the top, sixth floor of the main keep with panorama of the surrounding city.
In spring, Matsumoto Castle is bustling with many people who come for cherry-blossom viewing. Strolling around the spacious castle grounds and park, lovely views of hundreds of somei yoshino cherry trees in full bloom along the outer castle moat are spectacular. Best season is around mid April each year.

Matsue Castle (松江城), located in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, is one of the few original wooden castle remaining in Japan. Since the end of the feudal times, only about a dozen castles remain in Japan. Visitors will be lucky to learn this “original” castle tower has survived wars, fires, earthquakes and anti-feudal activities during the post-feudal era.
Matsuejo (jo=castle) was completed in 1611 by the local lord Horio Yoshiharu. However in 1638, relatives of the Tokugawa Shogun, the Matsudaira clan received this castle.
