Kondarangi Hill, as per my own experiences, I feel that this hill mountain is an unique one in tamilnadu, its standing very straight and touching the sky high, it looks very taller around 3800 feet high, situated at Kondarangi Keeranur.
This hill footpath(marked white) makes you feel it is not that easy one to climb, because the steps are made up of the same rock, its some what not in position so, the hill surrounded area is very pleasant & silent and it's near by village is not that busy town, so be prepared yourself everything your own before start.
The well-known place very near to that hill is Oddanchatram only. Its far around 20 minutes travel distance. The hill is much worthy and wonderful one for those who looks for spiritual and adventurous trips.
You have to reach the place early morning and start your journey from the down hill is the best and right time.
Here the very special one is the hill, looks like shivalingam, and the temple god is also lord shiva in the name of 'Lord Malligarjuna Swamy'. Overall, this place is must see one in your life time

This Hill has a steep Conical shape and it is about 748meters high. There is a very wonderful Rock cut Temple on the top where Lord Shiva showers his blessings in the name of Malligarjuneswarar. It is a Swayambhu Lingam ( Formed on its owns ). The hill itself looks like a Huge Linga.
The steps are rock cut and it seems very difficult to climb the hill. But with Lord shiva's blessings it is very easy to reach the top. It takes two hours to reach the top. If there is Rain or high winds it will be difficult to ascend or descend. There is a perennial spring on the top.
There is a Cave where Sidhhars and Thavasis have done meditation. There is also a Temple located at the foothills known as Ketti Malleswarar Sri Bhramaramba Temple.

History:
Once a hunter was chasing a bird, the bird wanted to save its life. So it hid behind the idol of Lord Shiva by covering it with its wings. Lord Shiva appeared to the hunter and asked him not to kill the bird. Lord Shiva assured the hunter that he would offer his brain instead of bird. Then the hunter agreed to him and had the brain of Shiva by inserting his fingers. As he did so, holes were made on his head. Goddess Ganga rose out of the holes, soon after this incident. There are holes on the Siva Lingam in which 10 figures can be inserted. Even after taking large quantities of water from the holes, the level of water does not go down. Once Sri Shankaracharya visited the temple along with his disciples. They wanted to find out the reason as to why the water level was not going down therefore they tied a thread to a spoon and dropped it into the hole then it went deep inside and stopped. When they pulled up the thread, they found blood stains on that, then realised their mistakes and begged pardon from the God.
Unique feature of the Temple:
Shivalinga is always hold a certain level of water (Ganga on the Head), no matter how much water is removed.
Lord Shiva Temples - Thiruppanthurai Pranaveswarar Temple | தேவாரத் திருத்தலம்
Devaara Thiruthalam is a show on Peppers TV that features Shiva temples that have been mentioned in the Thirumurai, ancient Tamil poetry written by the Shaivite Saints.
This particular temple has the main diety called Pranaveswarar because here is where he taught his son Murugan about the fall that comes from pride, which he got after explaining about the Pranava Manthiram to his father at Swami Malai. Shiva, as the Pranava Eswarar gave back Murugan the ability to speak, so the belief is that people with speaking problems will get cured if they visit this Pranaveswarar.
