Grand River Lorne Bridge Autumn, Brantford Ontario
The Grand valley was home to the Attawandaron until their 1649 extirpation by the Seneca and Mohawk, who later received it in the 1784 Haldimand Proclamation. Mohawk leader Joseph Brant (Thayendanegea, 1743-1807) built his estate near the ford. Some riverbed was used for Lorne Park (1920) beside the ford and the 1924 Lorne Bridge. This slideshow presents the autumnal landscape colours, featuring maple, willow and pine. Floral and fowl close-ups, including flowering cabbage and Canada geese, are accompanied by Windham Hill artists performing The Crow and the Weasel.

Nature Walk????♂️| Hiking the Grand River trails in Brantford, Ontario
#appsmill #hiking #takeahike
Today I needed to clear my thoughts and I always find the best way to do that is to get out in nature and away from the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday routine. I have been hiking this area for over 30 years now and it never gets old. Nature is constantly changing her landscape.

Our Town: Brantford | WNED Program
A WNED Original Production. Located on the Grand River in Southern Ontario, The Telephone City has been home to Mohawk settlers; inventor Alexander Graham Bell; and hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
In October 2009, 32 current residents captured some of Brantfords foremost points of pride for OUR TOWN: Brantford, WNEDs 14th community video scrapbook production. As these volunteer videographers show through their film footage, Brantford has carefully preserved both its storied past and its natural beauty. In this city of about 90,000 people, bald eagles as well as the historic downtown core are making a comeback.
Discover what makes Brantford a special place to live or visit ― from its coveted riverfront, to a distinctive college campus occupying former industrial spaces, to a restored Vaudeville theatre, and much more! For more information: wned.org. ©2009. Produced by WNED-TV.
