Mantra Lorne & Top 6 Things to do in Lorne Victoria Australia
This video I show the 6 top things to do in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. The 2nd half of the video is at one of the top beachfront resorts in Lorne, the Mantra. I give a quick review of my stay at the Mantra Lorne, the facilities and the room I stayed – the Resort Room with Ocean View. Lorne itself is a popular beach tourist resort town on the Great Ocean Road. It makes for a wonderful weekender getaway from Melbourne as it is only 2 hours’ drive.
The 6 best things to do in Lorne Victoria:
#6 Great Ocean Road Story – This museum showcases the story of the building of the Great Ocean Road. From 1919 to its opening in 1932. The exhibition is free and is located in the Lorne Visitor Centre.
#5 Cora Lynn Cascades (falls) a Beautiful waterfall just outside of Lorne in the Otway National Park. It’s a 4.2 km hike (roundtrip) from the carpark. A lovely walk to the falls that’s not too strenuous.
#4 Eskine Falls is one of the top tourist attractions in Lorne with 2 lookout points. A gorgeous 30m waterfall well worth the trip to see. One of the best waterfalls on the Great Ocean Road.
#3 Qdos Art Gallery. An impressive gallery of art as well as a café for a bite to eat.
#2 Teddy’s Lookout. For some beautiful views of the Great Ocean Road and the mouth of St George River - this viewing platform has some of the best views in Lorne.
#1 Lorne Beach. One of the most popular things in Lorne is the beach, a beautiful place to swim, stroll along, surf or just chill out.
The Mantra Lorne is a 4 or 4 ½ star resort in Lorne (depending on which website you look at)
With the beachfront location covering 12 acres and 277 rooms, it’s one of the largest resorts on the Great Ocean Road. Rooms come in resort rooms, studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments. Facilities include tennis court, bowling green, spa, gym, indoor lap pool, in-house restaurant which has a buffet breakfast. It’s only a short walk to the beach and the town of Lorne.
For prices or deals at the Mantra Lorne, have a look at their own website, they have a number of different packages including some with breakfast included. Also have a look at comparison booking sites such as TripAdvisor, Trivago and HotelsCombined. I used bookings.com on this particular stay.
The Mantra Lorne makes for either a romantic or family getaway from Melbourne. See my video for my full review of the resort. I really enjoyed Lorne, it’s a wonderful town along the Great Ocean Road.

Fish & Chips Lunch in Lorne | Great Ocean Road Australia - Part 2 | Melbourne - Lorne | 26N11D18
Fish & Chips lunch break in Lorne, Victoria, Australia.
Lorne is a classic Australian beach town famous for surfing and ocean activities. Tourists traveling on The Great Ocean Road come to Lorne for a lunch break or just to have a quick tour of Lorne.
I found only one suitable place to eat, which seemed to be located on its busiest street in Lorne downtown. It’s called Lorne Fish & Chips.
Foods were overpriced, which was expected in a tourist town. The fish was way too salty and did not feel like ocean-fresh. I was unable to finish the fish and concentrated on the chips.
They only take cash and even charge extra if you ask for more ketchup.
You are wathing the second video in the Great Ocean Road Australia Travel playlist. In this video, I will be sharing my Fish & Chips experience in a small seaside town in Lorne, Victoria.

HOPETOUNE FALLS | Hidden Secrets of The Great Ocean Road | Episode 2
❤ S U B S C R I B E ????
The Great Ocean Road drive is one of the most spectacular scenic tour in the world. From the Melbourne city, it's just a one hour drive to the starting point of the GOR. Total length of the GOR from Torquay to Allansford is about 238km. It was built by soldiers who returned from the World War - I. Technically the GOR is the worlds largest war memorial.
Everyone in the city knows the famous spots in the great ocean road such as 12 apostles, Lord Ard Gorge, Lorne and Apollo Bay. But, not everyone knows most of the hidden gems of the Great Ocean Road.
So we've decided to show hidden gems of this wonderful scenic tour to the world as a series of vlogs starting from the western end of the GOR (Allensford End).

Twelve Apostoles and Waterfalls at Great Ocean Road
The spectacular Great Ocean Road winds alongside the wild and windswept Southern Ocean. Home to craggy cliffs, empty beaches and bountiful wildlife, there's an effortless affinity with nature along this iconic road. And with epic surf and unforgettable hikes, you'll find plenty of adventure around every corner.
The Great Ocean Road begins a 90-minute drive from Melbourne's city centre. It spans 400 kilometres (249 miles) from the town of Torquay to Nelson on the South Australian border.
Victoria's dramatic south-west coastline covers an incredible range of scenery. See the world-famous waves at Bells Beach or laze on the sand at Anglesea. Visit the charming old fishing village of Port Fairy and get among the buzzing arts community in Lorne. Of course, you can't miss the 12 Apostles. These craggy limestone stacks rising majestically from the Southern Ocean are a must-see. Join a scenic flight with 12 Apostles Helicopters to see the Bay of Islands, London Bridge or the entire Shipwreck Coast all the way to Australia's oldest lighthouse at Cape Otway.
Beauchamp Falls crashes over a ledge into a large pool just outside Beech Forest, this 20-metre waterfall rewards a somewhat strenuous walk. To get to the falls, take the walking path from the picnic area, located off the Aire Valley Road. The three-kilometre path is an hour's walk return, and requires reasonable fitness. The descent to the falls leads to a viewing platform (there is no access to the falls). The path back is steep and has steps that can be slippery when wet. Take care when walking in damp conditions.

MUST SEE - Lawn Hill & Adels Grove. Ep.18 Outback Road Trip Australia
The road to Adels Grove!
After our stay at Camooweal we trekked up to Adels Grove via the Riversleigh road. We only left Camooweal at midday, so after a few hours of driving it was time to set up camp again!
We pulled up, on top of this small hill approx 80km south of Adels Grove. The views were amazing! We watched the sunset and star gazed for hours that night. It was one of those magical spots that aren't on wiki camps!
The next day we packed up and continued the trek up to Adels. We stopped in at the Riversliegh Mammal fossil site to have lunch and a look around. ???? After a look around at the fossils & a full belly we hit the road again.
We arrived at Adels Grove that afternoon and checked in for 3 nights. We spent 2 days exploring Lawn Hill National Park and completed all the hikes. Our favourite spots in Lawn Hill would have to of been the Indarri waterfalls, wild dog dreaming track and the upper gorge lookout! Definitely paid to get up early and start the hikes before the days warmed up!
Adels Grove was also magical! Well worth a visit! Awesome fish and chips from the shack! They have tubes you can hire and just float around, an epic rope swing and some hidden gems worth exploring! We loved the fact they were dog friendly, so made traveling into Lawn Hill without rusty a breeze!
After our stay at Adels Grove we headed to Gregory Downs! We had never heard of Gregory Downs until a few fellow travelers mentioned we should definitely go, and it did not disappoint! We spent a total of 6 nights by the river at the free camp, as we loved it that much! The water ran down stream so we could float down a good 200m on our tubes!
The wildlife was amazing at Gregory, birds galore, wallabies just in the bushes behind our camp. The locals did show us a 2.5m fresh water croc which was cool to see! Gregory Downs was action packed with lots of things to keep us entertained! Kurts metal detector came in handy, when we helped a couple in distress! (separate post to come!)
Overall we had a blast at all (Adels, Lawn Hill & Gregory!) It was great being able to swim and relax around in these mini oasis.
