Yangon, Myanmar
Video with images of two ancient pagodas in Yangon capital of Myanmar. In the fifth century BC it was a small settlement called Okkala with a popular Buddhist sanctuary which enshrined a strand of hair of Buddha brought from India by two local merchant brothers. Later the Mon called the settlement Dagon. It was an important religious center visited by several monarchs of the First Burmese Kingdom. In the middle of the eighteenth century king Alaungpaya conquered Dagon from the Mon and built a new city called Yangon. He turned the city into a major seaport. In the first Anglo-Burmese war the British occupied the city for a short time. In the second Anglo-Burmese war the city fell into British hands again. After their conquest of Myanmar the British proclaimed the city the capital of the country. They corrupted its name to Rangoon. In the Second World War Yangon was in Japanese hands. Afterwards the city became the capital of an independent Union of Myanmar.
The Sule pagoda is situated in the center of Yangon. Its tall zedi is an excellent landmark in the heart of the busy city center. It is a popular meeting place for many Burmese. Legend says the pagoda is over two thousand five hundred years old and it was built during the time of the Buddha. The central stupa is said to enshrine a hair of Buddha. But, as with many other ancient Burmese shrines, the Sule pagoda has been rebuilt and repaired many times over the centuries. Nothing at the present pagoda is more than a little over a century old. The golden zedi is unusual in that its octagonal shape continues right up to the bell and inverted bowl. Around the zedi are ten bronze bells of various sizes and ages with inscriptions recording their donors' names and the dates of their dedication. The stutcture is surrounded by small shops and all the familiar non-religious activities that seem to be a part of every Burmese zedi.
The Shwedagon pagoda is situated in a district called Dagon to the northwest of the city center. Legend says the pagoda dates from the fifth century BC. Since then many monarchs ordered the restoration of the pagoda which was damaged by several earthquakes. Four covered walkways lead up to the platform on top of the hill. The southern walkway is the main entrance of the pagoda. Two chinthes or mythical griffins guard the entrance. It leads to a marble platform. In the center of the platform is a huge solid stupa surrounded by smaller stupas, statues, temples, shrines, images and small pavilions. The main stupa rises first in three terraces, then in octagonal terraces and then in five circular bands. The stupa has a bell design decorated with sixteen flowers on the shoulders. The bell is topped by an inverted bowl and above this stand the mouldings and then the lotus petals. A banana bud is the final element of the stupa before the hti or metal umbrella tops it.
On all corners and in all directions of the main stupa in the Shwedagon pagoda there are planetary posts. Each post corresponds with a planet, an animal and a day of the week. Sunday corresponds with the Sun and the Garuda. Monday corresponds with the Moon and the Tiger. Tuesday corresponds with Mars and the Lion. Wednesday morning corresponds with Mercurius and the Tusked Elephant. Thursday corresponds with Jupiter and the Rat. Friday corresponds with Venus and the Guinea Pig or Mole. Saturday corresponds with Saturn and the Naga. Burmese people believe that their guardian Nat or spirit lives in the planetary post which corresponds with the day of the week they were born. Hence they make an offering at the planetary post while burning incense and giving the Buddha image a ritual bath. The marble platform also has tazaung or pavilions with seven or nine roofs and zayat or resting places for pilgrims.

Shenzhen ([ʂə́n.ʈʂə̂n] (listen)) is a major city in Guangdong Province, China; it forms part of the Pearl River Delta megalopolis north of Hong Kong. It holds sub-provincial administrative status, with powers slightly less than a province.
Shenzhen, which roughly follows the administrative boundaries of Bao'an County, officially became a city in 1979, taking its name from the former county town, whose train station was the last stop on the Mainland Chinese section of the railway between Canton and Kowloon. In 1980, Shenzhen was established as China's first special economic zone. Shenzhen's registered population as of 2017 was estimated at 12,905,000. However, the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee estimates that the population of Shenzhen is about 20 million, due to the large unregistered floating migrant population living in the city. Shenzhen was one of the fastest-growing cities in the world in the 1990s and the 2000s. And has been ranked second on the list of ‘top 10 cities to visit in 2019Shenzhen's cityscape results from its vibrant economy - made possible by rapid foreign investment following the institution of the policy of reform and opening-up in 1979. Williams Lake Real Estate - Call Russ at 248-310-6239 - Waterford MI
Williams Lake Waterford Twp. Michigan
Williams Lake in Waterford MI. Hello this Russ Ravary your Oakland County lakes area realtor. Williams Lake is highly desirable private all sports lake that is about 155 acres in size. The deepest spot in the lake is 45 feet. I have had clients that their families have gone back generations on the lake, and relatives still want to buy on the lake.
Most of the lake homes sit on lots that range from 40 to 70 ' wide. Though there are some double lots that are over 100' wide. There are still small 700 sq. ft. ranch homes all the way up to homes that are over 5300 sq ft. They are constantly adding onto homes, remodeling and even tearing down and rebuilding homes on the lake.
It’s a great lake with an active lake association that puts on sailboat races twice a week, a fishing tournament, a golf outing, and a fireworks display. The children living on Williams Lake attend Waterford schools. The roads around the lake are paved. The homes are on city water and sewer.
I hope I gave you a nice glimpse of what Williams Lake real estate and the lake is like. I believe an educated buyer will make a smarter decision. If you need a good lake realtor on your side give me a call at 248.310.6239 or email me at yesmyrealtor@gmail.com
