LOUGH BOORA DISCOVERY PARK
Located just outside of Cloghan Co Offally.
Transformed from its previous incarnation as a commercial bog where peat was harvested to heat homes around the country, today Lough Boora Discovery Park is home to countless species of birds and wildlife, fish-filled lakes and a permanent exhibition of huge outdoor sculptures. These sculptures give the park an other-worldly feel, created using the old industrial materials of the bog such as locomotives, rail-line and timber, all crafted into magnificent works of art.
Well Worth a visit.
Lough Boora Parklands
Boora Bog (Irish Portach na Buaraí) is a cutaway peat bog situated in County Offaly, Ireland. Peat was harvested for fuel between the 1950s and 1970s, and the land is now being reclaimed for agricultural and eco-tourism use. There was a lake called Lough Boora (Loch na Buaraí), which was drained by Bord na Móna, but was not used for peat production: this area is now maintained as a nature reserve by the Irish Wildlife Trust. There are two angling lakes.
The highest observed 20th century air temperature in Ireland, 32.5 °C was measured at Boora on 29 June 1976[3]

IRELAND | The Land of BOGS AND WHISKEY
While visiting Ireland, you must head out into the country, put on some trail boots and enjoy the surrounding nature. Which is exactly what we did when we visited Lough Boora Discovery Park. We had a relaxing day hiking in the reserve, finishing up with a much-needed whiskey tasting tour at the Tullamore DEW visitor's centre, just around the corner from the bog. Do you enjoy getting out into the wild for a hike once in a while? Come along with us on a walk through the bog lands of Ireland.
