DJI Mavic 2 Pro - Bulk Carrier TRAMMO STANTON & LOUGH FOYLE FERRY
Drone flight 942. April 17th 2019, a beautiful bulk carrier enters Lough Foyle and with luck it arrived on a nice day in the midst of high pressure and we got treated to hazy afternoon sunshine and pleasant temps with just a 7-10mph SEly breeze. She arrived from America to Belfast then to Foyle Port to discharge her remaining cargo of grain. She made for a striking sight visually out at sea when she appeared through a bank of haze, I rather liked her attractive colour scheme and especially the red and white cranes. The flight went well, I met her in p mode but once I let her pass I couldn't catch up with her again so I used sports mode to get me past her bow (I edited out this change due to shaking) then returned to P mode to complete the filming. When I made my way back I spotted the Lough Foyle ferry which had just begun a new series of sailing for Easter from Greencastle to Magilligan Point, this was her official first day of sailing, it was good to see her back again and she made for an extra treat after the bulker using the same battery, vessel details...
Name: Trammo Stanton

Good flight, no signal issues, drone within VLOS, good visibility over the lough, spotter used. I was filming using cloudy white balance at 1080p HD at 30 frames/sec using manual focus to infinity which I'm beginning to like more than AFC, for ship filming anyway, AFC seems to be great for everything else, soundtrack 'Maraconi Union - Blue Collar Parade', thanks for watching.

Scenery, Fishing, Lots of History Greencastle Co Donegal
We are doing a lightning tour of the scenic Inishowen peninsula and have reached the fishing village of Greencastle. It is a very interesting spot full of history. fishing boats and fabulous history. We will have to return and check all this out on a better weather day.
Greencastle (Irish: An Caisleán Nua), is a commercial fishing port located in the north of the scenic Inishowen Peninsula on the north coast of County Donegal, Ireland on Lough Foyle. Nowadays, given the decline in the fishing industry, it resembles more closely a 'typical' Donegal holiday village. It is located a few miles from Moville and is about 20 miles from Derry. Greencastle's name comes from the castle in the area, which, in turn, may have derived its name from the green freestone with which it was built. The castle, originally built by the Anglo-Normans, is also known as Northburgh Castle.
There is a circular memorial tribute near the harbour listing the names of all those Inishowen sailing/fishing men who have been drowned over the decades. local men have been lost to the sea in virtually every decade.

DJI Phantom 3 Advanced - Frazer Mariner - New Lough Foyle Ferry - Maiden Voyage
Drone Flight 499. July 17th 2017, after a long wait the new Lough Foyle ferry set sail on it's first official maiden voyage, however the sailing went unannounced so I didn't even know her mechanical issues were fixed yet. I happened to be driving to the Point Bar for dinner when I suddenly spotted her leaving Greencastle heading for Magilligan Point so I rushed down to the beach and prepped the drone for take off. I met her at 400m range, the new ferry looked beautiful with a nice blue and white paint job, they couldn't have picked a better day for her first sailing, the sun was blazing, the sea and sky were deep blue and wind light, what a glorious day to finally meet the new ferry. The sun was so bright I could barely see the screen on my tablet so for this reason I stayed back and played it safe. When over the lough I stayed more than 30m from her (IAA) then when she approached the pier I climbed to more than 50m (CAA) while maintaining strong line of sight so all was safe. I counted six cars on board. The following day my Wife and I boarded the ferry on yet another glorious day which you can see at the start of this video, soundtrack is Hans Zimmer's 'Sorrow', thanks very much for watching. nightskyhunter.com
