Lake District Walks: Ambleside to Loughrigg
A walk from Ambleside, in the English Lake District, to the summit of Loughrigg Fell, (pronounced Luff Rigg) via the Old Ambleside Golf course, a 9 hole course set on one quarter of the lower reaches of Loughrigg Fell, which went out of use in the 1950s. The walk shows the unique quality of Loughrigg, and gives an indication of why it is held in such high esteem by tourists, locals and fell walkers. As Alfred Wainwright wrote, everyone likes Loughrigg.

Loughrigg Fell- near Ambleside
In this video artist Andy Beck takes a walk from Ambleside up to the popular Loughrigg fell, one of Wainwrights 214 which featured in his Pictorial Guides. Although its not much more than 1000' it is a fell with pretty stunning views (given the right weather) especailly up into the Langdale Valley. Its an ideal short adventure if the weather is inclement on higher fells or if your time is limited.
Andy Beck is the artist behind the multi award winning book- The Wainwrights in Colour so he knows these fells rather well but currently he is working on his new and exciting project- The Lakeland 365.
If you would like more information about his book or would like to order a copy then do visit his website: andybeckimages.co.uk
You may laso wish to take a look at the new project, you may do so at: thelakeland365.co.uk
These films are nearly all shot on a Gopro Hero 5 black and are completely self-filmed as Andy usually walks solo with only his dog for company.

Loughrigg fell in the snow
Today we take a walk up Loughrigg fell in the lake district, one of the top walks in the UK. Pronounced Luffrigg fell by the great Alfred Wainwright.
The Cumbrian Lake District has many walks, Loughrigg fell is considered one of the most rewarding for the views over Grasmere lake, Windermere and Rydal water.
There is still snow on the ground from the recent cold spell making some excellent views!
We also take a brief look in the Rydal Cave on the return to the land rover.
A cold but rewarding walk!

Elterwater / Loughrigg Fell / Loughrigg Tarn Lake District England circular walk
I recorded our circular walk of Elterwater and Loughrigg on 19/04/2015. This is a great lakeland walk for all the family. It affords great views of Elterwater, Grasmere and Windermere

Lake District Walks: Around Loughrigg
Get a taste of the views that you will see on this wonderful Lake District walk around the edge of Loughrigg Fell, featuring stunning views of Ambleside, Windermere, The Langdale Valley, Loughrigg Tarn, Grasmere, Rydal Water and Rydal Caves.
The walk is suitable for families, and makes a great day out. You'll need good stout shoes, some provisions, and to check the weather forecast before you set off. The walk is easy to navigate, with clear paths for much of the way, but a map and compass or GPS should be taken. Don't forget your camera!
Loughrigg Fell
West of Ambleside in the English Lake District lies Loughrigg Fell, a perennial favourite Wainwright. In May 2018, Tish and Neil of On Y Va Films, accompanied by The Mighty Puds™, took a gentle walk up this classic hill - why not give it a try for the New Year?
Follow us for more films of our walks in the coming weeks, and visit our website: onyvafilms.com to read more, and to suggest other walks that you would like to see.
Have a great 2019 on the hills!

Ambleside - Rydal Water - Loughrigg Fell - Grasmere
Between Ambleside and Grasmere, just after Rydal Water, there is a car park on the left. Pull in, then follow the footpath that will lead you on a wonderful walk over the River Rothay, connecting Rydal Water with Grasmere Lake. Walk ahead until you have Rydal Walter on the left. Then choose right hand path, towards Great Langdale and Grasmere Lake. As you round Grasmere Lake walk into the wood and descend to the beach. Back over the Rothay and a lovely walk through the wood to the car park. Allow 2 hours of gentle walking.

This is a video from the summit of Loughrigg Fell in April 2007. It was a near perfect day for fell walking that day with some amazing views all around.
Lake District Walk 8 Loughrigg Fell 6th April 2018
Today we completed an 11k circular route on Loughrigg Fell starting and finishing at White Moss Common Car Park. After waking along Loughrigg Terrace we climbed Loughrigg Fell, slowly in high temperatures. Next we took a step route down to Loughrigg Tarn, where we heard our first Cuckoo of the trip, before heading across the fell to Rothay Bridge and finally exploring Rydal Caves.
A tough day in the heat but some spectacular views!
On Location - Loughrigg Fell Landscape Photography
Join me on Loghrigg Fell, Cumbria, for a pre dawn vigil waiting for some light to set the scene alive with colour. I've been to this location quite a few times (it's a heart pounding yomp up from Loughrigg Tarn!) and failed to experience the combination of light and conditions so find out how I got on this time...
