CAN'T BELIVE WHAT WE SAW ON SOUTH AFRICA SAFARI TRIP! (PUMBA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE)
23/11/18 - Pumba Private Game Reserve, South Africa
After waking up in Grahamstown, near Port Elizabeth, it was time for our South Africa safari trip in Puma Private Game Reserve and we saw a ridiculous amount of things. From warthogs and zebras to rhinos, elephants, giraffes and white lions, it was a truly epic day, topped off with a bbq that turned out to be the best meal of the trip!

SOUTH AFRICA Photo Safari - part 1 | wildlife & conservation photography | behind the scenes
I am in South Africa for 14 days to photograph wildlife and conservation efforts.
After a very long 3 flights from the UK to Port Elizabeth, I arrived at Kwantu Game Reserve. Using the very last light I managed to get out and start the safari as it means to go on. Adventure, thrills, once in a lifetime moments and face to face with male lions...
I have a group of guests on my workshop but although blogging time was short I managed to go get the video camera out at times to go behind the scenes for you to experience my adventure.

Knysna South Africa - The Heart of the Garden Route | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Located on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, Knysna (pronounced as ‘ny-zah’), is one of the country’s most famous locations. It is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, wildlife and golden beaches. The breathtakingly pretty lagoon is now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish.
The endangered Knysna seahorse is named after the town and can be spotted during a good snorkeling session in the estuary.
We really enjoyed the view from the heads - a striking geological spot made up of a pair of huge, brightly coloured cliffs lying at the mouth of the lagoon, flanking a channel of potentially treacherous water that flows into Knysna lagoon. We were told that from the banks of the rocks we could see whales because Knysna is on the migratory route of the Southern Right and other species but unfortunately we weren't able to see one these marine mammals.
Enjoy the video and let us know where you’re watching from!

BMX IN SOUTH AFRICA... SA-FARI Adventure
The Sa-Fari trip was centered around riding two amazing ditch spots in South Africa. I had been to one of them briefly a few years ago and knew how incredible it was. The other one was a recent find by the Port Elizabeth crew of riders—I saw some pictures and videos they posted on Instagram and it looked unreal!
A few months before the trip I broke my wrist pretty badly, so I wasn’t quite on the ball with organizing the whole thing. Kevin Kalkoff kicked my ass in to gear when he pointed out that we were both going out there for two events anyway and we may as well put a trip together. Although I wasn’t ready for filming or competing, I couldn’t pass up a road trip around South Africa and I knew the other dudes would love the experience.
We were in for loads of driving and relatively little riding, so the crew in the van had to be right: Kalkoff, his brother (Thomas Benedetti), Rich Forne, and Eisa Bakos. We needed people that understood the “effort for reward” ethos and we had it. We weren’t trying to stack a load of clips on “regular street spots” to make a normal BMX edit, as we knew this would be more of an adventure than anything. Rich Forne is one of the most creative videographers around; he appreciates traveling and new experiences as much as anyone and I think that comes across in the video he made.
We ended up covering well over 2500 miles, but the spots and experiences were worth it for sure. I was stoked that I managed to ride each spot a little and the trip motivated me to get healthier and stronger again for 2019. It was a treat watching Kevin and Thomas ride these spots. I buzz so much watching the video and reminiscing about all the good times we had! —Greg Illingworth
Follow Greg Illingworth, Kevin Kalkoff and Thomas Benedetti as they venture off the beaten path and into the wild of South Africa’s unparalleled beauty, whilst on the hunt for some of the most elusive spots and remote locations the country has to offer. The result is 17 minutes of pure, raw BMX combined with breathtaking visuals captured over 4000km of travel.
A film by Rich Forne.

We visit Mountain Gorilla's in Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest, Chimpanzee's and much much more wildlife. Trekking with the gorilla's was amazing, the dominant Silverback did not want to spend much time with us but the females and baby weren't too bothered by us.

Lion's Pride - Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa
We have done a lot of safari excursions in the Pilanesberg National Park since from the last 4 years, but this day is fantastic. For the first time we saw a lion family (one lion, four lioness and one cub).
We first saw a group of deer in a panic look. Then all of a sudden, the deer started running fast and all were disappeared.
Our instinct was to suspect that we were going to see a large group of predators. We were so excited to see that. In a moment we saw a huge lion descending from the mountain from a long distance.
Moments later, we saw a group of lionesses trying to cross the road with a young cub. We knew very clearly that the lion’s family were not in a hungry mood. But remember how the group of deer ran away when saw a lion family from a long distance.
One thing is very clear, living in a forest and being an antelope is always a difficult situation and life is full of fear, but still the deer survive.
Here I feel it, wildlife tries to tell you some news.
Wildlife teaches when you are ready to learn.

South Africa Experience - Kruger Park Safari VLOG#62: Lion King in real life!
// KRUGER PARK AT IT'S BEST: Living the Lion King-dream during our Safari in South Africa!
A lifelong dream came true: We visited South Africa! We were there for 12 days and really made the most out of it!! This video is the third of the three South Africa VLOGs that I made and is all about our Day 9-12 of our South African Adventure!
DAY 9: We woke up early and headed to Port Elizabeth Airport where we had our domestic flight to Johannesburg. We then drove for more than 6 hours from Johannesburg to our hotel just before the Paul Kruger Gate.
DAY 10: We woke up in the car, took a shower and got ready for the Safari! We arrived at the Paul Kruger Gate and as everything was already booked, the paperwork went very quickly and just after entering the park we saw a mommy elephant with her baby! We drove to Skukuza Rest Camp for breakfast. Then continued our trip towards Lower Sabie, the rest camp where we were going to stay for the next 2 nights. On the way we saw many springboks, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and vervet monkeys. Welcome to Kruger!
When we had finished setting up our tent, we got ready for the Sunset Drive, which was organised by the rest camp. It is a relatively cheap option to not book a private tour and still go out of the rest camps after opening hours. We loved it, the guides are very knowledgeable and know how (and where) to spot the animals. We were so amazed to see two lions just next to the road!
DAY 11: We had the alarm at 4 o'clock as our Sunrise Drive started at 4:30am! It was beautiful to see the world waking up. More and more birds started to sing, the hippo's went back into the water after they had been eating grass the whole night, the zebra's were running to go to the nearest waterhole and we saw them drinking all together! Just before returning to the rest camp, our guide was told that there was a crocodile in a lake nearby, so we drove there to watch!
The rest of the day we went out on our own, we got to see a rhino far away. The only rhino we have seen. They are not indicated on the maps with the colored magnets, to reduce the chance of poaching. We were looking for a leopard that would have completed the Big Five, but couldn't find any. We talked with a couple that had seen already 3 of them in the past two days. It really depends if you're lucky to be at the right place at the right time!
After dinner we went to do the night drive! It was a bit more difficult to take pictures and photos in the night, but we could hear the sounds of many animals and it was very impressive!
DAY 12: We woke up in our tent from the heat! In February it is summer in South Africa and during the day it was around 40 degrees in the Krugerpark. At night, the temperature didn't really go down as much as we'd hoped! After breakfast, Diego overheard people saying they spotted a cheetah not so long ago! Diego asked where he found it and we got into the car right away to see if the cheetah was still there. We were lucky, we found it quite soon! There were two cheetahs laying under a tree and we got very good close ups from both of them! We were told that it only happens a few times per year that the cheetahs come this close to the road! That kind of made up for the fact that we hadn't seen any leopards.
Via Pretoriuskop rest camp we drove back towards the gate, as we still had to drive about 6 hours to get to Johannesburg Airport and catch our flight at 11:55pm.
What an AMAZING experience, we are sure we will come back some time in the future!
Thank you for watching!! Have you seen part one yet?
A helicopter flight over the Cape Peninsula, visiting Penguins in Boulders Beach, riding horses near giraffes and zebras in Stellenbosch.. Click here!
And how about part two? Spotting Elephants and Lions at Addo National Park, Watching whales, dolphins and seals at Plettenberg Bay, Hiking the Tsitsikamma waterfall trail and close up with Zebra's in De Hoop Nature Reserve - This really is the Garden Route at it's best!
Enjoy watching!!
