The Arataki Visitor Center is the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, with more than 16,000 hectares of native rainforest and coastline. It's 250km of walking and tramping tracks provide access to beaches, breathtaking views, and spectacular rocky outcrops, including the Hillary Trail, black sand beaches, waterfalls and giant kauri trees.
The Park Rangers here will help you make the most of your visit. They know the latest track and weather conditions and the directions to the best places in the Park. If you are staying in the Park overnight, ask for the best camping & campervan sites.
How to get to Arataki Visitor Centre
Physical Address: 300 Scenic Drive, Titirangi
The visitor centre is at 300 Scenic Drive, 6km from Titirangi. From Auckland City, take State Highway 16 (northwestern motorway) and head west. Take Exit 2 onto Great North Road and follow signs to Titirangi. Drive through Titirangi Village and at the roundabout, take the Scenic Drive exit. Continue for 6km and the visitor centre is on the left.

Christmas Day storm New Zealand
Christmas day storm in New Zealand. Got to say I'm still blown away with the fujifilm X100f it's such a versatile camera and handled Christmas day weather in the Bay which was bat shyte crazy wet wild miserable, hot sunny humid cloudy then two storm fronts collided over the Napier waterfront. We got wet, we got peppered with hail, we got cold, but we got some pretty cool shots and memories which will last forever. Great day with my lads Caleb and Seth, we missed the old lad Danny like mad, hope our destruction of his song will be forgiven. The Lower Nihotupu Reservoir is one of five reservoirs in the Waitakere Ranges that supply water to Auckland.
Built between 1945 and 1948, the reservoir covers an area of 52.9 hectares and has a capacity of 4.6 million cubic metres.
The Lower Nihotupu reservoir is managed by Water Care Services Limited, an Auckland council-owned company.
The Lower Nihotupu reservoir is 10 minutes from Titirangi on Huia Road just before Huia township and Whatipu.

Travelling is by far one of my top remedies for dealing with any stress and anxiety, though luckily that is becoming less and less frequent.
It's a sneaky little bugger, creeping up behind you, it's footsteps light, not causing a single creak. Soon it engulfs you, it's weight heavy and overpowering. You begin to loose all control, tossing about like a shell lost in a wave, tossed about without knowing which way is up.
It's name is the world, the world of money, of opportunity, of beauty, of death, of pain, of desire, of love. It comes in many forms but we don't see the danger signs He lay out to warn us. Don't get attached to that of the world, don't find a home within, because your time here is only temporary. But use it wisely because you are brought here to shine a light upon a different reality, to show people that there's so much more to hope for, beyond our wildest dreams. It's time to break free.
