LOST IN YANGMINGSHAN PARC I TAIWAN #VLOG 06 (VOSTA)

Yangmingshan Park is one of the national parks located in the north of Taipei. This huge park includes picturesque lakes, rice terraces, volcano craters and thermal springs ... A tip to visit this park : you must be well prepared and especially well motivated haha.
Otherwise you will end up like us that is: lost and especially overwhelmed by fatigue haha BUT otherwise it's really beautiful and I strongly advise it !

THIS IS WHY WE LOVE PEOPLE IN TAIWAN + YANGMINGSHAN NP
This is why we love people in Taiwan + Yangmingshan NP.
This is our third video from Taiwan and the surroundings of Taipei. Today we are talking about three main topics: why we love people in Taiwan, Yangmingshan National Park, which is a must see once in Taipei, and Camera Street in Taipei.
People in Taiwan are simply wonderful! Even though most of them don’t speak english (or perhaps we are so unlucky that we only meet those who don’t) they are extremely nice and for sure will make all they can so that you feel welcomed… Well maybe everyone except the crazy scooter drivers!
Yangmingshan National Park is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan. Since it’s located not so far away from Taipei City center it’s very easy to reach it. We took city bus and can recommend choosing this mean of transport. In the National Park you will find several hiking trails, so there will definitely be one for you! Make sure to go there during nice weather, because the views from up there are breathtaking… at least I think… After watching the video you will understand why I only think that Yangmingshan is a place with great views.
In Taipei you will find a place called Taipei Camera Street. Basically it’s exactly what you think it is! You will find there several stores with cameras, camera equipment and for sure they will be able to help you with whatever problem you may have. We had a problem with our camera and they fixed it within 2 minutes.
I can strongly recommend going to Taipei, Taipei Camera Street, Yangmingshan National Park and Taiwan in general to everyone!

8 DAYS IN TAIWAN 2017 dank vlog (3/3) - Taipei
Welcome to part 3 of my 8 Days in Taiwan travel vlog trilogy!! If you haven't watched part 2/3 (Kaohsiung) yet, here's the link:
After multiple days of returning to the rustic and fishy boutique in Taichung, we finally upgraded our accommodation to that of a decent hotel living space thing in a building... I honestly don't even know where we stayed but it was in the middle of Ximending, you'll probably find one of those on TripAdvisor.
We visited the Liberty Square and the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall where we marvelled at the static soldiers. It pretty much lasted the whole afternoon; our stomaches were empty and our bladders were full so we sojourned at the hotel again before setting out again into the streets of Ximending again to scour for food. There is absolutely no way you will have to worry about food there.
And there was a cool handpanman from Japan ;v;
The next day, we hitched a ride from another family friend who was this HILARIOUS old man who wore colourful shoes to Yehliu Geopark where we saw the famous Queen's Head Rock, Yangmingshan National Park where we saw the absolutely mindblowing sulfure geysers and Qingtiangang Grassland Trails where the scenery was GORGEOUS. Apparently, there were supposed to be cows but we only saw cow dung. The park we went to was also part of Yangmingshan. Just a disclaimer, the entire road up and down smelled like boiled eggs.
To wrap up the day nicely, we had a quick visit to Tamsui District(yet another night market) and Lover's Bridge, bought some souvenirs and had a lot of fun! There was a funny moment on the way back but I will be uploading it separately ;D
Overall, while we did manage to visit a lot of places, I'm sure you will be able to have a lot more fun than I did if you actually planned your trip and are not travelling with a baby. Otherwise a large amount of time will be spent on sleeping. Like, a LARGE amount.
I hope that you'll have a better idea of what places to visit in Taiwan after watching this travel vlog series! Thanks for watching :)

Travel in Taiwan (2015, 7/8)
Wangyou Valley
The sun is blazing as we arrive at a trail in eastern Keelung that will take us down a hill into Wangyou Valley – a rare sight in what is known as Taiwan’s rainy city. Slowly we descend the steps. Coastal plants cover the edges of the trail, their leaves thick and waxy to retain moisture in the salty sea air. Purple-headed thistles spring up among other wildflowers. White trumpet-nosed blooms cling to the steep cliffs. Bulbuls, white-eyes, babblers, and thrushes duck and weave among the dense thickets. Serpent eagles and goshawks soar above a coast that has been ravaged year after year, century after century by typhoons, monsoon rains, and crashing waves.
Peppered, too, amongst the hills are remnants of Keelung’s military past: pillbox guard posts and fortified lookouts peep from the undergrowth, fighting a losing battle against Mother Nature. After climbing to the top of one of the valley’s several peaks, we see the small fishing harbor of Badouzi on the left beyond, while ahead of us stretches the wide expanse of the East China Sea.
Heping Island
To the northwest of Wangyou Valley lies Heping Island. In 1626, the Spanish arrived on this island, declared it Spanish territory, and built a fortification – Fort San Salvador – on the southwestern side. The fort and any traces of the Spanish on Heping Island have, unfortunately, been largely lost to history, but a small snapshot of the island’s colonial years can be seen in the geo park on its northern side. Much like at nearby Yeliu (with its famous Queen’s Head Rock), the main attractions in the park are the divertingly shaped sandstone rocks along the sea’s edge.
Follow the path around the park and you’ll come across the Cave of Foreign Words, a 20-meter-long natural tunnel that pierces a small headland near the eastern edge of the park. Inside the cave there is, purportedly, some 17th-century graffiti left by the Dutch, who took over Fort San Salvador in the 1640s.
Baimiweng Fort
One of several old fortifications perched upon the hilltops around Keelung, Baimiweng commands a spectacular view of both the harbor and the sea. The small, winding lane that leads to the fort is a bit difficult to find, even for Keelungers, says Wang, who, with a painter’s romantic eye, goes on to compare the challenging ascent up the narrow, twisting road to the journey up to the citadel of Évora Monte in Portugal. Reaching the fortifications, you’re confronted with a spectacular vista and four large semi-circular gun emplacements, each of which was capable in its time of hosting a 5.65-meter-long cannon able to fire a steel shell 8.8 kilometers at enemy battleships. Though the current fortifications date back only to the early 1900s, Wang writes that fortifications have been built on this location since the 17th-century colonial conflicts between the Spanish and the Dutch, a fact attested by the fort’s alternate name, Holland Castle. “From here the night view of the harbor is breathtaking,” Wang writes, “and on the other side, far out to sea, you can see freighters slowly entering the harbor, while further away still you can see the sun setting.”
Central Keelung & Harbor
As a busy, working container port, central Keelung is a churning organism of cranes and freight containers, trundling cargo ships and busy-bee tugboats. The narrow streets and alleys that creep out from the narrow central harbor can become, especially on weekends, breathtakingly crowded – a situation abetted by the fact that the nearby Miaokou Night Market is one of the most famous in Taiwan.

A bit of this destination:
Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park is situated on the side of Dashawan Mountain, which is at the east of Keelung City. There is a white statue of Goddess of Mercy in the park. This 25-meter high statue has become one of the characteristics of Keelung.
The park overlooks Keelung City and the harbor. There are three levels in the park. On the first level is a historic canon fort. On the second level is a Buddhist library, Martyrs' Shrine and Zhuputan Temple. The temple attracts many worshipers on July 15. On the third level is Guanhai Pavilion. Sitting in the pavilion, visitors can see the entire Keelung and the ocean.
The statue of Goddess of Mercy is the landmark of Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park. It is the biggest Goddess statue in Southeast Asia. Inside the statue is a stairway leading to the top. Zhuputan is where worshipers gather on Zhongyuan Festival. The first immigrants to Taiwan used to fight with each other for land. In order to stop the disputes, they set up a temple for yearly worship. The temple was in Gaosha Park during the Japanese occupation and moved to Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park.
