MuengTam Sanctuary or Prasat Mueang Tum is located in Jorakae Mak Sub-District, Prakhonchai District, Buriram Province. It is only 8 kilometers from famous Phanom Rung Historical Park.
MueangTam Sanctuary is a large community religious site in Hinduism presumably built for worshipping Shiva. From archaeological excavations, clear evidence revealed that human settlements had been established in the area, for instance, Khok Muang Community.
It is significantly situated on the main communication route that runs from Mueang Phra Nakhon, the center of the ancient Khmer Kingdom (Siem Reap), to the north passing Phanom Dong Rak Mountain Ranges, Prasat Ta Muean in Surin, Prasat Mueang Tam to Prasat Phanom Rung and Prasat Phimai in Nakhon Ratchasima. It is assumed that the ancient community at Mueang Tam Sanctuary had a vital relationship with other communities on Khmer Civilization Route from Mueang Phra Nakhon to the northeast of Thailand.

Buri Ram Gateway to the best Khmer temple complex in Thailand
My youtube video link:
.
Buri Ram Gateway to the best Khmer temple complex in Thailand,
We drive from Bangkok to Buri Ram to look at the temples. These are the best temples in Thailand by far and have been restored to a very high quality. Buriram (Thai: บุรีรัมย์, RTGS: Buri Ram, pronounced [bū.rīː rām], literally means city of happiness) is a town (thesaban mueang) in Thailand, former capital of Buriram Province, about 410 km northeast of Bangkok.
Phanom Rung (Thai: พนมรุ้ง), or full name, Prasat Hin Phanom Rung (Thai: ปราสาทหินพนมรุ้ง – Phanom Rung Stone Castle), is a Khmer temple complex set on the rim of an extinct volcano at 402 metres (1,319 ft) elevation, in Buriram Province in the Isan region of Thailand. It was built of sandstone and laterite in the 10th to 13th centuries. It was a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, and symbolises Mount Kailash, his heavenly dwelling.
Thailand's Department of Fine Arts spent 17 years restoring the complex to its original state from 1971 to 1988. On 21 May 1988, the park was officially opened by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.[1] In 2005, the temple was submitted to UNESCO for consideration as a future World Heritage Site.
After the three-leveled lower stairway is the first cruciform platform, giving a first peek at the main temple. On the right, northward, is Phlab Phla or the White Elephant House. The pavilion is believed to be the place where kings and the royal family would change attire before rituals. Royalty would then enter the processional walkway, one of the most impressive elements of the park. It is 160 meters long and bordered by seventy sandstone posts with tops of lotus buds. The walkway itself is paved with laterite blocks.
The walkway leads to the first of three naga bridges. The five-headed snakes face all four directions and are from the 12th century. This bridge represents the connection between heaven and earth. The naga bridge leads to the upper stairway, which is divided into five sets. Each set has terraces on the sides. The last terrace is wide, made with laterite blocks. It has a cruciform shape and four small pools. A couple more steps lead to the second naga bridge. It has the same shape as the first one, only smaller. In the middle the remains of an eight petalled lotus carving can be seen.
This final terrace leads to the outer gallery. It probably used to be a wooden gallery with a tiled roof, but only a raised floor of laterite remains. After the outer gallery one reaches the inner gallery, which is divided in long and narrow rooms. It served as a wall around the principal tower. This last gallery leads to the third and last naga bridge, another small copy of the first one.
The bridge leads directly into the main sanctuary. After the antechamber and the annex, one reaches the principal tower. Double porches lead out in all directions. The inner sanctum used to have the linga, the divine symbol of Shiva. Currently, only the somasutra remains which was used to drain water during religious rites. The entrances have various lintels and icons depicting Hindu religious stories, e.g., the dancing Shiva and the five yogi's. The south entrance is guarded by a sandstone statue.
Buriram-Issan-Thai Children very nice voice- Party of End of school year
Thai Children very nice voice during party end of school year in Ban Plum village Buriram, north east thailand.
And there, the same day, if you want to take a loock for complete journey in this School Party :
Isaan Thailand: Seasons Events and Celebrations in Thai Countryside
In 2015 my wife Fanfan and I moved to live in the small Isaan village of ‘Broken Road’ documented here and in our memoir A Potato in a Rice Field ( It shares life in Thailand’s rural northeast region (Isaan) which is known for its seemingly endless landscapes of rice fields after rice fields. The Isaan village is found soon after the larger town of Nang Rong, out towards the city of Buriram, just taking a right at ‘Baan Khanom’ or ‘Snack House’ as it translates in English. Because landmarks are otherwise few and far between in these parts of Isaan.
So Broken Road always reminded me of ‘The Shire’, as a fruitful place cut off from the modern world, where lots of small people live, and at five-foot-ten I’m almost certain to be the tallest person in the village. Anway, we are located in the northeast region of Thailand, better known as ‘Isaan’, which is misunderstood at times as being the ‘Poor Part of Thailand’ as I otherwise find the opposite when it comes to quality of life. As I think ‘low-income’ would be the better term, given people here live rich lives given the low cost of living, and ability to live off the land. And our family compound is no different, where almost everything we eat in the week is sourced from the family’s gardens and farms, and even the streets out front are lined with lemongrass and kaffir lime trees, so the smells of citrus breeze through the village every time they’re trimmed. We do live in somewhat of a foodie’s paradise, and of course I make the most of this throughout the year.
So ‘A Potato in a Rice Field’ shares chronicles through images and snippets of daily life my integration into the close-knit family circle, the local temple, and the wider village community. It’s basically just me bumbling through awkward social and cultural etiquette in Isaan Thailand, although our experiences do feel somewhat anthropological in parts, given our unique position in this rustic rural setting. And through the year I find myself involved in intimate ceremonies, from wearing puffy shorts as a ‘Bridesmaid’ at a wedding, to the more sombre tones of family funerals. And experiences do of course centre around the local Buddhist traditions, where at one point I was almost convinced to join a mass monk ordination at the local temple to become a monk. As shared in the video.
However I am not just plopped into these situations as the token tourist, given I am pretty much bound to these roles as a family member and the only able male of the near family, where grandpa Ta is now in his seventies. But I will otherwise always be a novelty in the wider community, given I am the only foreigner found within many miles.
For more on our life in Thailand and travels in Asia check our website All material is produced by travel bloggers Fanfan and Allan Wilson.
#fight84 - Dahaknoi Giatbundit vs Nongnaa Lookponaak - Buriram Muay Thai
Here is the video of my first fight for Giatbundit Gym. This is a festival fight in Buriram with an opponent that turned out to be much larger than we thought (about 56 kg). Very excited to have completed this fight, it was a fantastic experience and the beginning of hopefully more fights with Pi Dit and Giatbundit Gym in Isaan.
Update on the building of my house 8/30/09
A quick update. Got everything ready to raise walls and hopefully get the roof on next weekend.

Coban The Cruncher Lookchaomaesaitong Highlight | Muay Thai
Muay Thai highlight of legendary muay matt Coban Lookchaomaesaitong.
Coban had some of the most lethal punches in Thai boxing history. He fought 270 times (90 wins by KO) and bagged himself two Lumpinee titles along the way.
Coban was born in Issan, NorthEast Thailand in 1966 and was one of five children. His family was poor and he wanted to help so, at the age of 11, he began training Muay Thai on his own by filling canvas rice bags with rice hulls and sawdust. He had his first bout at a Thai festival that same year and drew the fight. He won 30baht.
A year later, a ringside doctor and judge relocated to Coban's local area. He saw Coban training and invited him to train at the public health and recreational centre.
At 15 years old, Coban moved to the Lookchaomaesaitong Muay Thai camp in Buriram where he would live for the next 9 years.
At 19, Coban won his first Lumpinee title...
Coban is probably best known outside of Thailand for his rivalry with Ramon Dekkers. These fights are legendary; two wins for Dekkers and two wins for Coban.
Some of the fighters featured in this highlight include Dany Bill, Ramon Dekkers, Hector Pena, Fahlannoi Kietannan, Samransak Muangsurin, Noppadet Sorsamroeng and Oliver Harrison.
Coban also holds wins over, Noppadet Sorsamroeng and Orono Por Muang Ubon.
