Lower Tsitika River Provincial Park

Drive to Mount Cain Vancouver Island

Drive up to Mount Cain Alpine Park/Ski area. Located southeast of Woss BC, Canada. Mount Cain sits 1819m above sea level and had a snow base of 220cm at bottom of the ski runs on this day. We took the Tsitika mainline logging road back to hwy 19 instead of continuing along the main road which was plowed out to the highway. The main road was plowed but icy in sections due to a lack of sanding. We crossed the highway and continued on the Tsitika River logging road for a short distance before turning around to go back to the highway. We had been following two sets of Elk tracks along the road before reaching the highway. We lucked out and spotted the two elk several km down the highway on a side road before continuing are trip home.
