PBC TV Presents: Pântano Trail Ribbon Cutting
On August 5, Palm Beach County employees celebrated the opening of the recently improved 5.6-mile section of Pântano Trail between Riverbend Park in Jupiter and the Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area in Palm Beach Gardens. After a short opening ceremony, more than 40 attendees headed out on the new trail on bikes, horseback and on foot.
Pântano Trail is part of the Northeast Everglades Natural Area (NENA) overseen and managed by Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management (ERM). NENA offers a wide range of nature-based outdoor recreational opportunities with more than 165,000 acres of conservation areas and over a dozen activity and education centers in Martin and Palm Beach counties that are connected by six multi-use trails that includes the Pântano Trail.
Riverbend Park in Jupiter is the NENA connection hub, and from these beautiful surroundings you can travel south on Pântano and Bluegill trails or north on Jesup Trail and the Historic Jupiter-Indiantown Trail to various NENA locations.

naturescope: Sweetbay Natural Area
Sweetbay Natural Area in western Palm Beach County is a perfect example of what Palm Beach County looked like in it's most natural state. naturescope host Steve Bass walks you through the natural area and talks about some of the plants and animals you may encounter during a visit.
The natural area contains six native Florida ecosystems: mesic flatwoods, hydric flatwoods, wet prairie, baygall, mesic hammock, and dome swamp. The natural area was once part of the greater Loxahatchee Slough, the historic headwaters of the Loxahatchee River.
It is composed of two preserve areas that were set aside during the construction of the airport - a large tract to the west of the airport and a smaller tract to the east.
The natural area is part of the Northeast Everglades Natural Area.

Long Key Nature Center & Natural Area (including Garden of Reflection) - Davie FL
In this video I take a leisurely stroll through Long Key Natural Area, which sounds like it should be in the Florida Keys but it's actually in Davie, Florida. There are some beautiful sights there as you walk through gorgeous oak hammocks and along ponds teeming with lily pads, turtles, and wading birds. There is also a place called the Garden of Reflection, which was put there by the Broward Victim's Rights Coalition and is a peaceful memorial to victims of violent crimes. On the way out, I walked through what is called an Ephemeral Wetland, meaning it's temporary when the rainy season comes, providing the perfect breeding ground for various types of frogs. Of course, it only looks like a trail in this video because it was filmed in November, but makes for a beautiful walk nonetheless. Check it out!

Hungryland Trail – J, W, Corbett Wildlife Management Area
Hungryland Trail – J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area
This hike was taken on December 1st 2017
The J.W. Corbett Wildlife management area is one of the last large tracks of natural Florida left in Palm Beach County. Although it is a part of the Everglades Water shed, canals and development have isolated much of the land. You can still find a mixture of pineland, marsh and swamp throughout the area. Because Corbett is a multiuse area, hunting is allowed during various seasons. Be careful when hiking trails, and make sure to check with the hunting calendar. The Hungryland trail and boardwalk is within the Everglades Youth Conservation Camp. This area is set aside for educational programs run by Florida Fish and Wilde Life. Use the link below for more information on booking the youth camp for groups and programs… it is well worth it.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
