Loy Krathong at asiatique, Bangkok
Loy Krathong is all about giving thanks the river goddess for the supply of water, it is celebrated in Thailand on the 11th of November every year. This is all the video we took as we took in the festivities and celebrated with the locals and tourists alike.
LOY KRATHONG FESTIVAL AT ICONSIAM | The First Loy Krathong Festival At Iconsiam, Bangkok, Thailand
The 2018 Loy Krathong Festival at Iconsiam, marks the very first Loy Krathong Festival at Iconsiam. Will you be here next year?
With Bangkok’s newly grand opening of Iconsiam luxury shopping mall, which sits on the famous Chao Phraya River, it was a no brainer for Iconsiam to become the new place to host the Thai Loy Krathong Festival.
The Loy Krathong Festival is an annual festival that is celebrated throughout Thailand. Thais take this time to thank the Water Gods for the year’s worth of water supply as well as apologising for polluting the waters.
Thais release their Krathongs (a flower basket made out of banana root, flowers, candles and invents) at rivers, ponds or lakes. Before releasing their Krathongs, they light up their candles and incense and make a wish, before sending them off into the waters. It’s also a metaphor for floating/sending away all your bad deeds in the past and start fresh.

Loy Krathong in Bangkok(4K)
Word of Loy Krathong, I think that there are many people who think of Com Roy which is done in Chiag Mai.
The event of Loy Kraton is held even in Bangkok.
■Riverside Locations
Asiatique (Riverside)
Wat Saket (Riverside/Old City)
■Popular Lakes for Floating Krathongs
Lumpini Park (Silom)
Benjasiri Park (Sukhumvit)
and etc...
Benjasiri Park is close to BTS Ploenchit station, so you can feel free to join.
Let's let the ship(Krathong) sink too.
If your candle stays alight until your Krathong disappears out of sight, it means a year of good luck.
Asiatique for the Loi Krathong Full Moon Celebration #bangkok #fullmoon
Hello Beautiful People!
My Sister from another Mister, Lovely Lisa and I went down by the river and had a great time at Asiatique.
Unfortunatly, not the best place to celebrate Loy Krathong, the name could be translated as to place a basket, We couldnt get close to the water.
This is a full Moon party and this year it fell on November 22, 2018.
Thais and Ferang alike make or purchase flower floats with candles and incence to present respect and forgiveness from the Water spirits.
We put our wish or hopes on paper and place the pod into the water.
Unfortunatly, Asiatique sits high up on the river and you need a long stick to place it in the water. With shuttle and party boats consistantly docking, they cause a wake and most floats made their way under the pier.
Lisa was kind enough to place ours in the Klong once she got home. It was a fantastic time of great food and drink. Lots of people watching and a visit from my good friend Laura.
I edited 1 hour into nine minutes, Hope it keeps your attention. Enjoy
Check out Lisa and her wonderul eye for photography @
You are sure to fall in love with her and her wonderful talent.

Asiatique (Loi Krathong Experience)
▶ Check out my gear on Kit:
We celebrated Loi Krathong in Asiatique! It was a very wonderful experience. Loi Krathong could be translated as to float a basket, and comes from the tradition of making krathong or buoyant, decorated baskets, which are then floated on a river.
It was a very late night so we had dinner first. This was after an hour or so of waiting along the Chao Praya river because there was congestion along the port.
We wanted to eat the street food that we saw but there was no where to sit! We were tired for the day so we decided to go to a sit down restaurant instead.
We had the green curry chicken and grilled fresh river prawns! The fresh river prawns are so addicting. I always order this whenever it's in the menu
After eating, we went around asiatique to shop and discover rare finds. In the end, we were able to find a krathong so that we could experience the Loi Krathong festival.
We made a wish and hope that it comes true! It was our first time in Asiatique together and experiencing the Loi Krathong

Loy Krathong in Bangkok | And Where To Go
Loy Krathong in Bangkok and where to go 2019
covankessel.com // Mention: Loy Krathong in the booking, and get 10% OFF!
Loi Krathong, the festival of lights, takes place on the night of the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai Lunar Calendar. This changes every year for the western calendar.
This year, in 2018, it will be on the 22nd of November.
Lights from thousands of candles that twinkle on the water transform Bangkok in a beautiful magical way. Each offering carries prayers and wishes sent off to float down the rivers of Thailand. This festival is celebrated by the locals to thank the Goddess of Water, and ask for forgiveness for polluting the rivers.
If you are in Bangkok on this day and want to experience this festival first hand, all the major parks, such as Lumpini Park and Benchakiti Park. will have an event for Loy Krathong where you get a Krathong and make a wish. All along the Chao Phraya river, people will be joining this festival to let their Krathongs float away. Also at Asiatique, there will be a big event for everyone with fireworks to end the night.
If you want to learn more about this amazing festival and how the local people make these Krathong during the day, come join one of our bicycle tours on this special day, we take you off the beaten path and show you the REAL Bangkok.
Looking for an authentic and unique adventure? Co van Kessel bike tours and boat tours provides a refreshing alternative to the tired tourist experience. We do not battle the crowds at clichéd destinations promoted in guide books, but turn your attention to quaint local communities and charming excursions into the fascinating lifestyle and culture of real Thai people. Every day is different and every tour is a surprise as we focus not on destinations, but lose ourselves in the enchantment of the journey itself.
Co van Kessel, an innovative and adventurous Dutchman, pioneered bicycle tours in Bangkok more than 30 years ago. As a longtime resident and self-professed lover of Bangkok, he understood very well the picture of accelerated urban development (gridlocked traffic, concrete towers, and choking pollution) that has plagued the recent image of the city. He also had a hunch that this was not what Bangkok or Thailand was all about.
Making it his goal to re-discover Bangkok, Co spent thousands of hours on his mountain bike exploring the vast network of local streets, alleyways, footpaths and canals between the main urban thoroughfares. What he found, lurking behind the facade of modernization, were hidden worlds of peace and tranquility, a picture of “real” Thai life that has remained unchanged for countless decades; an identity of a city that is true to the Thai people, yet largely unknown to outsiders.
Whether it’s the colorful sights and smells of the local markets, the fascinating life of locals along the canals, or the surprising existence of bountiful green belts, Co discovered the essence of what makes Bangkok one of Asia’s most captivating cities. Since then, it has been his mission to share these discoveries with the rest of the world.
What we do
Our mission at Co van Kessel Bangkok Tours is to provide our guests with a singularly unique travel experience in Thailand. All our tours use Co’s extensive topographical knowledge of the greater Bangkok area as well as his keen eye for the interesting to take you where nobody else can or will.
We aim not to bore you with talk, but to immerse you in an experience where your individual fascinations emerge.
Bicycles, boats, and our feet become the tools we use to gain access to the previously inaccessible, behind-the-scenes lifestyle of the Thai. Here the roots of an ancient culture will become evident in a way you never could have imagined.

LOY KRATHONG FESTIVAL AT SAPHAN TAKSIN (SATHORN PIER) | Loy Krathong Festival, Bangkok, Thailand,
I didn’t expect this many people at Saphan Taksin/Sathorn Pier for the Loy Krathong Festival, Bangkok, Thailand.
This place is full of people, floating their Krathongs, buying Krathongs, coming home from work, or catching a shuttle boat to float their Krathongs at a different location. This is one busy interchange and it has such a great atmosphere.
There are plenty of street vendors making and selling Krathongs all along these streets so you won’t have to be afraid of the Krathongs running out.

#Bangkok - Loy krathong festival - #102
Loy Krathong is a Thai festival celebrated annually throughout the Kingdom of Thailand and in nearby countries with significant southwestern Tai cultures.
“Loy” means “float”, and a “krathong” is a special Thai floating sculpture particular to the holiday. The traditional krathong is made from a cross-section of a banana tree trunk, which is then elaborately decorated with folded banana leaves and flowers in intricate towering designs.

EXPERIENCE LOY KRATHONG 2018! | Delon Serino (feat. ICONSIAM and ASIATIQUE)
Witnessing and experiencing one's culture is how we learn in our daily lives.
Delon Serino here, your Filipino expat to Thailand, and this is my FIRST vlog for the Loy Krathong celebrations. Loy Krathong in English is to float a craft; loy = to float, krathong = a craft. This is celebrated by Thai Buddhists, and nearby countries, on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar.
A typical krathong is made of banana stem, adorned with leaves, joss sticks, coins and a candle. Thai dessert are also placed as an offering. Wishes and prayers are observed before floating the krathong in a nearby river or lake.
Location: Asiatique, The Riverfront

Loi krathong at Asiatique
Latest shopping district in Bangkok. Just in time for the Loi Krathong celebrations. Wonderful shopping with more than 1,000 stalls. Similar to Chatuchak market but a little more upscale. Lots of restaurants to choose from, great place to visit.
