Luang Prabang
We spent four days in Luang Prabang. Very chill town. Highlights of the trip would be both bike trip to the Whiskey Village (Ban Xang Hai) & Kuang Si Waterfall
EXPLORING LAOS 2 - Luang Prabang
The second video of 3 of our time exploring Laos in SE Asia. Because we were short on time we booked onto a tour with White Elephant adventure tours to see a hill tribe village, waterfalls and to complete a 17km kayak with rapids. Great day - I have to admit I don't feel the video does it justice because the GoPro didn't pick up on how beautiful the kayak was! Highly recommend a trip like this.

LAOS: VERY adventurous and EXHAUSTING BUS TRIP, VIENTIANE to LUANG PRABANG ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Here's my adventurous and very exhausting 11-hour bus trip from the capital of Laos (Vientiane) to the royal city of Luang Prabang. listen to my comments recorded at each of the four stops to get an idea of what I had to go through. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. Louangphabang, or Luang Phabang, literally meaning: Royal Buddha Image is a city in north central Laos, consisting of 58 adjacent villages, of which 33 comprise the UNESCO Town Of Luang Prabang World Heritage Site.
Laos is a Southeast Asian country traversed by the Mekong River and known for mountainous terrain, French colonial architecture, hill tribe settlements and Buddhist monasteries. Vientiane, the capital, is the site of the That Luang monument, where a reliquary reportedly houses the Buddha’s breastbone, plus the Patuxai war memorial and Talat Sao (Morning Market), a complex jammed with food, clothes and craft stalls.

Luang Prabang - Elephant Camp - Laos 6/18
Luang Prabang has both natural and historical sites.
Among the natural tourism sites are the Kuang Si Falls, Tat Sae Waterfalls, and Pak Ou Caves. Elephant riding is offered at some sites.
Phou Si, in the center of the town, has broad views of the town and river systems, and is a popular place to watch the sun setting over the Mekong River. At the end of the main street of Luang Prabang is a night market where stalls sell shirts, bracelets, and other souvenirs.
The Haw Kham Royal Palace Museum and the Wat Xieng Thong temple are among the best known historical sites. The town, particularly the main street, is dotted with many smaller wats such as Wat Hosian Voravihane. Every morning at sunrise, monks walk in a procession through the streets accepting alms offered by local residents, an event popular with tourists but subject to some controversy surrounding tourist etiquette.
Mountain biking is quite common, with people often biking around the town or to the waterfalls for the day. Down the Mekong River, a 15-minute boat ride from the city centre, Ban Chan (the pottery village) is an interesting place.
Luang Prabang received 'Best City' in the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2015.

Luang Prabang | Exploring a beautiful UNESCO city | Laos
Another overnight bus brought us to Luang Prabang, Laos' old capital city & important place for Buddhists. It lies in a valley and surrounded by mountains and through it run the Nam Khan river and also the Mekong. The whole city is also a designated UNESCO site and is beautiful. We spent our first few days strolling along the rivers, exploring the Wat's & the Royal Palace as well as seeing beautiful sunsets!

Exploring the Luang Prabang Night Market
Location: Luang Prabang Night Market
The Luang Prabang Night Market is one of the most unique night markets in Southeast Asia. The night market is completely covered in in red and blue tents. The market is beautiful from above. As the sunsets the lights begin to come on, and the night market takes on a magical glow.
The Luang Prabang Night Market sells all kinds of local goods. Unlike other Southeast Asian countries. The market isn't filled with knock off goods. I didn't see a single pair of RayBans for sale. Instead the vendors were selling hand made jewelry and rice whisky with scorpions!
In comparison to other Southeast Asian countries, the night market is much smaller and the vendors are much less pushy. You could walk through the night market in about an hour, and only get hounded to buy things a couple of times.

Luang Prabang/Laos
Luang Prabang, or Louangphrabang is a city located in north central Laos, at the confluence of the Nam Khan river and Mekong River about 425 km north of Vientiane. It is the capital of Luang Prabang Province. The population of the city is about 50,000.
The city was formerly the capital of a kingdom of the same name. Until the communist takeover in 1975, it was the royal capital and seat of government of the Kingdom of Laos. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The main part of the city consists of four main roads located on a peninsula between the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers. The city is well known for its numerous Buddhist temples and monasteries. Every morning, hundreds of monks from the various monasteries walk through the streets collecting alms. One of the major landmarks in the city is a large steep hill on which sits Wat Chom Si.
Luang Prabang has both natural and historical sites. Among the natural tourism sites are the Kuang Si Falls and Pak Ou Caves. Tourists may also ride elephants. At the end of the main street of Luang Prabang is a night market where stalls sell shirts, bracelets and other souvenirs. The Haw Kham Royal Palace Museum and the Wat Xieng Thong temple are among the most well known historical sites. Along with the wats a significant part of the old town's appeal are the many French provincial style houses.
