Buganda commemorates 1966 storming of Lubiri Palace
The Buganda Kingdom is holding special prayers today at the Lubiri Palace in Mengo to commemorate the attack on Kabaka Frederick Mutesa II’s palace in Lubiri on 24 May 1966.
The palace was attacked on the orders of the then Prime Minister, Milton Obote after the souring of his relationship with the Kingdom officials.
The attack forced Kabaka Mutesa into exile in London where he later died on November 21,1969.
A number of dignitaries are expected to attend the service which will presided over by retired Bishop of Namirembe, Samuel Balagadde Sekadde.
The palace was turned into an army barracks after the attack in 1966. It was however returned to the Kingdom in 1993 when cultural institutions were restored.

Haunted Mansion/Kabaka's Palace, Kampala 28-11-2016
Kabak’s Palace, also known as Idi Amin’s Torture Chambers or Haunted Mansion is located in Lubiri area of Kampala on Mengo Hill Road. It was the home of the Bugandan kings but these days it largely remains unoccupied due to the horrific events that took place under the rule of Idi Amin and President Milton Obote. President Idi Amin built his torture chamber here where hundreds of people were reportedly tortured to death. Their spirits are believed to have haunted the palace which is closed to public these days for repair and clearing it from the so-called spirits.

Kasubi Tombs Kampala Uganda - burial grounds for kings of Buganda Kingdom (Kabakas)
Kasubi Tombs - biggest thatched hut in the world and burial ground of four Buganda kings (Kabakas). It burned down in 2010 and is being reconstructed. The ruling Buganda King is not allowed to enter the tomb hut - the first and last time he enters is when he has died. In a secret ceremony, the lower jaw of the sleeping king is cut off and handed over to the new ruler, but afterwards as well buried.
The wife of the dead king shifts from the palace in a simple hut near the graves. If she dies, another woman from the same clan takes her place, assuming that the king is only sleeping.
Female visitors have to wear a long skirt or traditional clothing like kitenge, gomesi or kanga

Most Loved KING in Africa - Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, KABAKA of Buganda Kingdom in Uganda, Africa
The renewed love for the Kabaka and the kingdom has forged a kind of unity among Baganda. Not even the increasingly polarizing political atmosphere in the country has been able to break that unity. Even Baganda living in the diaspora feel that they are a part of the kingdom back home.
When it comes to issues concerning the Kabaka, all religions and political parties work together.
