BOTSWANA TRAVEL DOCUMENTARY | 4x4 Safari Road Trip feat. Victoria Falls
Part One - NAMIBIA:
My Gear:
Follow us on our road trip safari through southern Africa's wildlife paradise Botswana. We drove through most of Botswana, including all the wildlife-rich areas like the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe Nationalpark including the Chobe Riverfront and the Kalahari. We explored the Makgadikgadi salt pans in the center of the country, the Gcwihaba Caverns in the West and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the south. We also shortly ventured into Simbabwe to marvel upon the majestic Victoria Falls. We were lucky enough to spot most of the big, and many small, animals which call Botswana home. These include elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, kudus, oryx, ostriches, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, serval cats, warthogs, springboks, impalas and many more.

Botswana - self-drive adventure Africa
On this trip we explored Botswana´s beautiful Okavango Region with a quite new Toyota Landcruiser Bushcamper from Savanna Car Hire.
Close encounters with hugh elephant herds which are used to cars a lot. Amazing unforgettable experiences.
We enjoyed the silence and loneliness in the pans.
At north gate campsite we were lucky seeing wild dogs running through the camp hunting empalas. Unfortunately, we weren't able to film this spectacular scene.
Our route: Windhoek - Maun - Nxai Pan - Makgadikgadi Pan (Kubu Island) - Kasane with Chobe Riverfront Park (Muchenje Campsite) - Linyanti Campsite - River Khwai (Dijara Campsite) - Moremi North Gate - 3rd bridge campsite - Southgate - Maun

Botswana Overland Trip - Episode 3 - Savuti
Episode 3 of our June 2019 Botswana Trip. This episode is dedicated to Game Viewing in the Chobe National Park in the Savuti area.
For those that wonder how the video was recorded:- We arrived at camp, sassing out where we will park, what will be done where etc, when all of a sudden the elephant walked into our camp! My wife and daughter both jumped onto the driver seat of the vehicle as the others will filled with bags, and camera equipment - all in preparation for our camp setup.
That left me outside of the vehicle, and a video camera close by! Lucky me - I think....
Needles to say, when you have such a close encounter with a wild elephant, it touches you deep inside!
Exhilarating experience!
The June 2019 Botswana trip focused on visiting exciting places such as Moremi Game Reserve / Okavango Delta, the Savuti and the Chobe areas.
Experience Wild Africa is dedicated in sharing events, trips, adventures within Southern Africa, (incl. International locations) with the rest of the world
Our love and passion for adventure in the outdoors drives us to partake in as many as possible adventures.

GORGES LODGE - TRULY LIVING ON THE EDGE!
Gorges Lodge is situated 22km downstream of Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side. It has possibly one of the most spectacular settings in the country with every chalet perched on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, 200 metres above the thundering Zambezi River. No amount of pictures can capture the breath-taking expanse of the Gorge that overwhelms you when you step out onto the Bar Deck for the first time.
For those of you who have been lucky enough to visit Gorges Lodge you will know that 'living on the edge' is a truly appropriate description! Here is a short video that beautifully illustrates the sheer thrill you experience when visiting Gorges and the complete splendour of the view and the surroundings.

Photographing an AFRICAN JACANA with GUTS, on the Chobe River, Botswana. Photo Safaris Series.
In this video, Pangolin Photo Co-Founder Guts, demonstrates different ways of shooting one of his favourite subjects - the beautiful African Jacana. The Chobe River, Chobe National Park, Botswana.
The African jacana is a wader, and the trademark of the Jacana is their nice big legs and identifiable by long toes that enable them to walk on floating vegetation in shallow lakes, their preferred habitat.

The Chobe is home to an incredibly dense population of African Fish Eagles. Most breeding Fish Eagle pairs will have two chicks at a time and with the large amount of Barbel (catfish) in the river fishing takes up less of the day. Thus both chicks tend to survive and the population grows exponentially.
All our game activities – on the Chobe River and on land within The Chobe National Park are hosted by the Pangolin Photo Hosts who feature in these films.
Whether you are a seasoned professional or absolute beginner, everyone is welcome at Pangolin Photo Safaris.

Travelling the world together for several years as a photography and videography team they both fell in love with the diversity and richness of nature.
Being most passionate about wildlife photography, they spent most of their vacation in the National Parks of South Africa. Lucky for them, the passion became a dream job in 2015 when they were offered positions as photographic hosts by Pangolin Photo Safaris.
Based in Kasane, Botswana they now guide anyone enthusiastic about photography and nature on photographic safaris and workshops in Chobe National Park and other wild places of Africa.

Kavango Air Flight over the Okavango Delta from Maun, Botswana Africa - Aug 2015
This video is an over look on the famous Okavango Delta, located in the middle of Botswana. It is recognisable on a map with a jet of veins stretching for miles across the vast distance of the Botswanan land scape. When it rains, it is a delight for the animals as watering holes are now filled and it’s a stop over before there onward journey to wherever they may be heading next.
This trip if a clear day can see a lot of animals if you are lucky. The pilot routs just up one way and then back the same way to the airport. It is a tiny plane so if you do suffer from any sickness, then it may not be best for you to take this trip.
It is not an extreme price, but are you going to go back to Maun? Just do it if you have the time.

Matt Bracken's Africa
Matt Bracken's Grandfather Verne Moss took him to Africa when he was twelve years old, quite an adventure in itself for a little boy. That was it, I was hooked, he said. I was lucky, the first animal I ever saw on safari was an African wild dog, the second was a leopard, and the third, an elephant. I will never ever forget looking into the eyes of that elephant, from that day I wanted to live wild and free, and I wanted everything else on the planet to live wild and free. It's the only way for the planet to survive, the circle of life, to live, wild and free. Matt continued to travel to Africa with his Father and eventually came to master the safari business through the guidance of the Beal family of Wayzata, Minnesota. Audrey and Dave Beal started Travel Beyond in 1975, and now their son Craig Beal owns the company. They provided Matt the flexibility and the access to gain an expertise in African safaris by exploring Africa, working at, and visiting safari camps throughout the continent for 8 years. Matt has spent his days traveling with clients to Africa and touring the great animal reserves that are home to elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, leopards, lions... an endless list of wild African animals to view and admire.
I ended up meeting a maverick of a man, Charles Brightman who founded and runs the Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit in Zimbabwe. I was able to follow his anti poaching teams through the bush and get some good footage. That opened the door and after a few more trips to Africa, I had the good fortune to meet Vincent Barkas in South Africa who started the oldest privately owned anti poaching company in Africa. His company is called Protrack, and they're hired by Wildlife Reserves throughout South Africa to protect their animals from poachers. He also runs one of Africa's only anti poaching ranger training programs. Soon Matt is full on engulfed in the Protrack boot camp in Hoedspruit, South Africa, which leads him to becoming a certified Anti-Poaching Ranger in the fight to save the worlds last rhinos!
Matt, as well, has flown to new York and Los Angeles answering the call of reality TV. Two major national networks are considering Matt as their next adventurous host. Matt Bracken's Africa has shown him amazing experiences, and soon he'll share much more of them with you. Stay tuned;
