Saigon, Vietnam Shopping MEGA MALL opens! VIVOCITY
When I walked into VivoCity on opening day I was amazed to see just how many people there were. Saigon's shoppig experience just got even better for residents of Saigon South. Thousands packed this new mall located in District 7's Phu My Hung on Nguyen Van Linh Road. The outside is rather impressive with its lights and inside the mall packs a frigid cold AC worth visiting just for that alone. The mall lacks a designated food court area like other malls in the area including The Crescent Mall and The Parkson Paragon, but it has major restaurants spread throughout its five floors, including my favorites, McDonalds and Kichi Kichi. On the first day most restaurants were packed, so I came back a few days later to experience some delicious food at Sumo BBQ Buffet restaurant, where for aroun 18 dollars you can eat some really high quality proteins from beef to fish. This was a superb meal to say the least.
I recommend checking out VivoCity, it easily compares to any mall in Bangkok and is much better than most malls I've been to abroad- including America. Oh, and Starbucks is there too.

Saigon Walk: Nguyen Hue Str., District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam [4K]
Nguyen Hue is a famous place for both local Vietnamese and tourists. This street surrounds the Ho Chi Minh Square, where all kinds of big events in Ho Chi Minh City happen. Especially on the national holidays - for example on Tet (Lunar New Years Day) - the whole sqaure is decorated in a special theme and every Vietnamese is having fun and taking pictures of them and their family. Also on regular days, it is a popular hang-out spot for the local people with their friends after sunset.
There are several places to check out on this street. The statue of Mr. Ho Chi Minh with the beautiful People's Committe building behind him is definitely the most popular photo spot in the Ho Chi Minh City. Remember, it is even prettier at night.
If you are interested in Vietnamese art, especially painting, visit the Vietnam ART Gallery. The professional sellers help you find the paintings that fit your taste and send it to your home abroad safely.
Bitexco, the tallest building in Vietnam, is the best place to enjoy the night view of Ho Chi Minh City. The Saigon Skydeck offers a 360 degrees view of the city. For those who want to have a meal or a drink to go along with this night view, restaurants / bars and cafes are available, even on floors higher than the observatory.
You will find an old 9-stories-building with a unique decoration on each balconies. There are dozens of cafes, small bistros, and clothing shops located there. It is interesting to look around how an old apartments building turned into the most trendy place in the city. Lucky Plaza is a nice place to purchase souvenirs just like Ben Thanh market - but with air-conditioning.
At the end of the street is the Saigon River and the riverside park. At the HCMC Passenger Ferry Port, you can take a boat to the nearest touristic city, Vung Tau.

Saigon City Tour (Part 2: Self-Tour) | Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | We.Are.Wanderful
On the third of our four days in Vietnam we wanted to do another city tour of Saigon to cover the still many other places we have not visited during our first city tour on our first day.
This time we decided to do the tour on our own (i.e., self-tour). Even before our trip to Vietnam I already booked us a chauffeured car-rental service via VN RENT-A-CAR (vnrentacar.com) for this city tour.
Our self-tour actually started early in the morning. From Majestic Hotel Saigon where we were billeted for the previous evening we just crossed the boulevard into the park along the Saigon River. The whole area is known as Riverside Saigon.
After strolling and sight-seeing in Riverside Saigon we had our breakfast back at Majestic Hotel, checked out early, and met our assigned driver for our rented car who was already waiting for us in front of the hotel.
For our first stop he brought us to the Saigon Sky Deck, the highest skyscraper in Ho Chi Minh City with a viewing deck that offers a 360° panoramic view of the Saigon. We took our time at the Sky Deck, even going for some light snacks at the Sky Deck cafe.
From the Saigon Sky Deck we proceeded to visit several museums and parks.
Unfortunately many of the museums in Saigon were closed because it was a Monday. What were we thinking?! We know too well from our previous travels that most museums all over the world are closed on Mondays! Nevertheless, at the very least we took photos in front of the museums that were closed.
The Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts Museum was also closed but it has a very nice outdoors arts display in its compound and the museum guard was kind enough to allow us to go in and take photos within the compound.
We were pleasantly surprised, too, that they let us in at the National History Museum.
Our morning tour ended with our visit at the Ho Chi Minh City Hall with its huge and long parade ground that goes all the way to the river.
After an all-American lunch in downtown Saigon Marielle and Johan had an opportunity to do bazaar shopping at Lucky Plaza Saigon.
We visited some more museums and parks in the early afternoon.
By mid-afternoon we already had to end our 2nd city tour of Saigon to allow for the 2-3 hours drive to the port city of Vung Tau where we were to spend our 4th and last day in our Vietnam Family Tour.

Ho Chi Minh City - Travel Vlog #3
The first bit of my 10 days in Vietnam! I spent the first 4 days in Ho Chi Minh City, and as you can see, spent most of my time eating. Unfortunately there was a tropical storm but it was still a great experience.
Ben Thanh Market is half indoor and half outdoor, with a huge variety of things being sold there, especially all kinds of traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
I tried Pho in several different places, (some I was a bit sceptical of) but overall the Vietnamese street food and cuisine in general were very tasty. Seafood is very popular there and lucky for me I love it so I enjoyed many different dishes.

I've loved VINTAGE CLOTHES since I was young ~ because you can find pieces that are totally unique ~~ and that just got soul! ~ and they can be CHEAP! + AND + it doesn't support the WASTE endemic of the fast-fashion industry :) ????????
For years I've thought that Vintage shops weren't really a thing in Saigon - but they ARE! They just don't look quite the same as in the States haha ~ and you have to HUNT for them! Lucky for me, I found one right by my house in D7! And it has a fun mix of random vintage + random new pieces and brands from Korea!
Getting clothes ALTERED or CUSTOM-MADE is one of my actual FAVORITE activities in my life here in Saigon! I've wanted to make videos about this for a long time - so this is my first attempt (and just making something of footage I took months ago)!

Ho Chi Minh city, also known as Saigon, is the biggest city in Southern Vietnam. It is more of a sprawling metropolis than Hanoi with its many districts. It is still referred to as Saigon by local & tourist alike. As a first time visitor I stayed at District 1 and explored the wonderful surrounding area on day tours.
Things I covered on Day 1 in Ho chi Minh City:
Admittedly, Ho chi Minh City isn’t it as full of sight as Hanoi with it’s old quarter, but once you get in to the city, there is a certain vibrant liveliness that you can’t ignore. It has a younger, more urban vibe than its counterpart and with almost two hundred years of French occupation, there is plenty to see.
• “SAIGON” Central Post office: A beautiful Gothic-Renaissance building, The post office is a lovely shade of pastel yellow that emits a sense of old romance you don’t see anymore. The vaulted sealings and wooden phone booths inside area treat in themselves.
• “SAIGON” Notre Dame Cathedral : A red brick Romanesque church built in late 19th century, its right next to the post office. It has two bell towers at 60 mtr. Height, fronted by a park ( That was sadly under renovation) .
• “SAIGON” Book Street: In a sprawling metropolitan like Ho Chi Minh city – Saigon, entertainment is in great demand and a vast array of recreational places are established to meet the ever-growing need. Yet, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle, the image of a calm street full of books still manages to stand out. Why? Because Nguyễn Văn Bình street doesn’t just give its visitors books, but more importantly a place for them to come together and share their knowledge and experiences, and ultimately the one thing those who choose to set foot on such a street have in common – the love for reading.

FIRST DAY IN VIETNAM GONE WRONG! (Can't believe this happened!)
It's our first day in Vietnam and I thought it's going to just be a fun day meeting new people, exploring Saigon with my fellow travel vloggers, writers, bloggers, and social media influencers until I got into an accident.
It's been a rainy day in Ho Chin Minh City and we were about to go back to our hotel which is the tallest building in whole Vietnam; The Vinpearl Luxury Landmark 81 and I suddenly slid from the slippery stairs! It was a little annoying that all I have to do is go down a few steps then, BAM! Next thing I know, I'm on the floor. It's all my fault and I should be careful where I step next time no matter how reliable I think my sneakers are. You will never really know when accidents will happen so make sure to always be mindful of where you go and where you walk. I am lucky that Cherrie is a nurse so she knew what to do. I know some of you might think i'm exaggerating but honestly, I am not really a fan of seeing blood or wounds because I easily get nauseated. This serves as a lesson for me to always be careful wherever I go!

Built by owner and developer Far East Organization, Lucky Plaza was completed in 1981. Lucky Plaza has proved to be one of the more successful shopping centres in Singapore during its heyday.
