This video shows a mobile-App which enables a virtual reconstruction of a medieval castle-ruin (Frauenburg Castle near Idar-Oberstein, Germany). I developed this app for my studies in computer-science. The app was created using Unity, ARMedia-SDK and Vuforia SDK.

Skull Tower - historical 3D reconstruction
This is a video presentation of my personal project - 3D reconstruction of historical monument Skull Tower(Ćele Kula). My name is Dejan Baćković, I'm a 3d artist with 10 years of experience and I primarily focus on development of game objects and animations.
Curiosity and fact that I've been intrigued with this monument ever since I was a child and the fact that this monument can be found in my hometown of Niš, Serbia, has inspired me to use knowledge and experience I've accumulated over the years to reconstruct this amazing and unique monument. I've always wondered how this tower looked like when it was built because to this day, only third of the original construction survived, along with 50 or so skulls.
I allowed myself certain amount of artistic freedom while creating this digital reconstruction, but I've based my reconstruction on historical data.

Castle Transformation in AR
Take a look into the past and move with us in time in augmented reality (AR) and get to know historical monuments in times of their greatest glory. AR allows you to take a look into history, guides you through the rooms and halls of Hlohovec Castle and retrieves the appearance of the no-more-existing furnishings and equipment of selected rooms with audio commentary in different languages.
The application AR takes you several centuries back into the past. Old, dormant rooms will be transformed into the noble and exquisitely furnished chambers, looking exactly the same like at the time of its greatest glory. Right on the spot, visitors can browse through a true, digitally created 3D interior transformation of a particular development period of property´s furnishing styles. Period furnishings, style and decoration were created on the basis of close cooperation with Homeland museum in Hlohovec and history experts.
Once you download the Hlohovec Castle application into your mobile device, working within this system is simple. After downloading, installing and opening the AR application, point your device (smartphone, tablet) on a period photography, be transferred in time and have a look inside the castle´s interior. Audio commentary with a lot of factual data and interesting informations complements the unique experience of the tour.

We invited a class of choolchildren from the local school in Kočevje to thoroughly test and experience the TravelAR Slovenia app. They put the app to the test using different devices; mobile phone, tablet and the Epson Moverio BT350 Smart Glass. For the kids it was an exhilarating educational experience. Using Augmented Reality and learning something valuable about the history of the castle of Kočevje was in one word thrilling.
