Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory. Real Russia ep.42
We continue our April's episodes dedicated to the Cosmonautics Day in Russia.
Next day after visiting the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow where we've met Alexey Leonov, the first cosmonaut who made an exit in outer space, we decided to drive 100km south from Moscow in Pushchino town.
Many thanks to girl Katya (Ekaterina), a good friend of Maksim Chepkasov for providing her car and service for us!
Pushchino is real interesting place on a map of Russia. This is not just a town, but one of the Scientific Research Centers of Russian Academy of Sciences focusing on microbiology, molecular biology and biophysics.
There concentrated a lot of Institutes that works in that spheres. But we haven't been interested in any of those Institutes. Because besides Institutes there another interesting place known as Puschino Radio Astronomy Observatory, founded on April, 11th, 1956.
It is very well-known in the world of Astronomy as an Observatory that own three absolutely unique radio telescopes like
RT-22 (Four, separate, fully steerable, radio telescope with 22 meter mirrors),
DKR-1000 (A wide-band radio telescope instrument)
and BSA/LPI (Large Phased Array).
These are radio telescopes that used for kinda important scientific tasks starting from removal an information from space apparatus Spectr-R finishing with observing and learning cosmic objects like quasars and pulsars.
All of these three unique radio telescopes you can watch here in this episode of Real Russia.
More than that, we've been lucky enough to get in touch with no one, but Rustam Dagkesamansky, the Head of Puschino Radio Astronomy Observatory, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, who works there since 1980 and who SPECIAL for our channel kindly agreed to tell about all of the radio telescopes.
Sergey Baklykov had no words to describe his impressions regarding this person. He said he never met such an intelligent, educated, well-mannered, friendly and kind person before.
Special Thanks to him from all of our Team!
Hope you enjoy!

SUMMARY
=======
Rimini (Italian pronunciation: [ˈriːmini] (listen); Romagnol: Rémin; Latin: Ariminum) is a city of 150,292 inhabitants in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy and capital city of the Province of Rimini. It is located on the Adriatic Sea, on the coast between the rivers Marecchia (the ancient Ariminus) and Ausa (ancient Aprusa). It is one of the most famous seaside resorts in Europe, thanks to its 15-kilometre-long (9 mi) sandy beach, over 1,000 hotels, and thousands of bars, restaurants and discos. The first bathing establishment opened in 1843.
An art city with ancient Roman and Renaissance monuments, Rimini is the hometown of the famous film director Federico Fellini as well.
Founded by the Romans in 268 BC, throughout their period of rule Rimini was a key communications link between the north and south of the peninsula, and on its soil Roman emperors erected monuments like the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge, while during the Renaissance, the city benefited from the court of the House of Malatesta, which hosted artists like Leonardo da Vinci and produced works such as the Tempio Malatestiano.
In the 19th century, Rimini was one of the most active cities in the revolutionary front, hosting many of the movements aimed at Italian unification. In the course of World War II, the city was the scene of clashes and bombings, but also of a fierce partisan resistance that earned it the honour of a gold medal for civic valor. Finally, in recent years it has become one of the most important sites for trade fairs and conferences in Italy.
The total approximate population of the Rimini urban area is 225,000 and the provincial population is 330,000.
