Lunch Box Museum Columbus Georgia
The Lunch Box Museum, in Columbus, Georgia, is the world’s largest single collection of lunch boxes and has been featured in many newspaper articles and on national television.
Allen Woodall owns the store and the museum. In fact, Allen was on the telephone trying to obtain a rare 1957 Toppie lunch box while I was enjoying the museum. I am not sure if the deal went through, but if you happen to have one of these lunch boxes, I bet Allen would be happy to talk to you.
Allen began collecting lunch boxes in the late 1980s and is still in the hunt for more. There are more than a 1,000 lunch boxes and related items, including thermoses, coolers and even tobacco tins that doubled as lunch boxes. In fact, there are so many items neatly stocked on the display shelves, it was hard for me to actually focus on one individual box.

National Civil War Naval Museum in Columbus Georgia
National Civil War Naval Museum
The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus, located in Columbus, Georgia is a fantastic place to visit if you are a history buff, like me. This 40,000-square-foot facility features two original Civil War military naval vessels, uniforms, equipment and weapons used by the United States Navy and the Confederate States Navy forces.
The highlight of the museum is the 180-foot hull of C.S.S. Jackson (also known as C.S.S. Muscogee), a revolutionary developed ironclad warship ram put to fire in the Chattahoochee River by the Union Army troops of Gen. James H. Wilson and recovered from the muddy bed of the river in the 1960s. Also, on display are what's left of C.S.S. Chattahoochee and an intact rowboat from U.S.S. Hartford, famed flagship of Federal Admiral David Farragut at the naval Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864.
Two models of the warships U.S.S. Monitor and C.S.S Virginia (the former U.S.S. Merrimack steam frigate under construction at Gosport Navy Yard near Norfolk, Virginia, captured after scuttling April 1861 with the naval facilities), used in the TNT cable TV channel's 1991 film Ironclads, and recreated full-scale sections of three other War Between the States-era warships are among the hundreds of Civil War artifacts located in the museum (including sections of U.S. Navy Admiral David Farragut's U.S.S. Hartford including the berth deck, wardroom and captain's cabin).
Oh, by the way, they give fantastic personalized tours.

The Columbus Museum - Columbus, Georgia - Aerial View
This video was filmed with a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ quadcopter on May 24, 2015.
Founded in 1953, the Columbus Museum is one of the largest museums in the Southeast and is unique for its dual concentration on American art and regional history, displayed in its permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, and educational programs.
When noted Columbus industrialist W.C. Bradley died in 1947, his family donated his 13-acre estate to the city of Columbus to be used as a center of culture and education. Located in the heart of the Wynnton neighborhood in a 1912 Mediterranean Revival house, the Columbus Museum of Arts and Crafts opened its doors to the public on March 29, 1953. Director Edward Swift Shorter quickly launched an ambitious schedule, including lectures and classes related to the Museum’s exhibitions of fine art and American Indian archaeological artifacts. As the institution grew, its name became shorter (now just the Columbus Museum), and its collecting focus changed to include American art in all mediums and artifacts that tell the story of human habitation in the Lower Chattahoochee River Valley.
In April 1989, a major expansion of the Museum resulted in the creation of an architecturally stunning, world-class facility. Still incorporating the original Bradley home, the Museum is now 89,000 square feet, including an interactive children’s gallery, a 300-seat auditorium, and a large atrium for special events. Galleries showcase both permanent and temporary exhibitions on regional history and American art, while a multimedia theater offers a film exploring the history and culture of the Chattahoochee Valley. Visitors can also enjoy the Bradley Olmsted Garden, designed in the 1920s by the Olmsted Brothers firm, founded by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.
Today, the Columbus Museum’s dedicated board and staff continue its legacy as a cultural center. In partnership with the Muscogee County School District, the Museum seeks to educate and inspire with a variety of exhibitions and programs, matching its slogan: “Always changing, always free.”

Gallery 63, Auction Kings, Atlanta, Georgia, United States, North America
Auction Kings is a reality television series produced by Authentic Entertainment for the Discovery Channel. The series premiered on October 26, 2010 and features the auction house Gallery 63 in Sandy Springs, Georgia, located on Roswell Road immediately north of the Atlanta city limit. The series capitalizes on the success of the History Channel's widely successful Pawn Stars. The auction house employees often rely on experts to appraise items of which historical background is provided to the viewer. Sellers offer comments regarding the merchandise at hand both before and after the auction. At the second commercial break, a multiple-choice question about the auction house or the items is presented. Paul Brown -- Owner. Paul is a second-generation auction house owner. He at first had no desire to pursue it as a career but changed his mind after working at a car wash and earning a college degree in literature. Paul took a job with his father's Atlanta-based auction house in 1989. In 2005 he bought Gallery 63, just north of the Atlanta city limits. Cindy Shook -- Manager. Cindy and Paul first worked together at his father's auction house in the early 1990s. She functions as both office manager and inventory manager, tagging and cataloging items for each sale.
Jon Hammond -- Assistant Manager/Picker. As a picker Jon not only helps process items at the Gallery but will often go in search of items to sell on consignment. A college English major, he bested nearly one hundred other applicants for the position of assistant manager. Delfino Ramos -- Repairman. Often items brought to the auction house are in need of cleanup or repairs both major and minor to increase their sale value. Delfino has been with Gallery 63 since Paul Brown purchased the business.
Jason Brooks and Guerry Wise Auctioneers. Bob Brown -- Paul's father and owner of the Red Baron antique store/auction house (where Paul worked and learned the auction business in his youth). Bob was a semi-regular on the show in the first two seasons, and featured in the opening. Elijah Brown -- Paul's son and Bob's grandson. Elijah works at Gallery 63 part-time as an assistant to Cindy and Jon, and attends high school. He is usually seen in the background holding items up for the bidders to see at the auctions, and also does some office work. He has been featured in a few episodes, learning the auction business from his father and grandfather. Steve and Ernie Garrett -- A pair of antique pickers from Michigan, the Garrett brothers debuted on the show in season 3. They tour the country looking for items to buy, and then sell them at the auctions for profit. Dr. Lori -- The Ph.D. antiques appraiser (former museum director and university professor) who evaluates many different types of objects. Dr. Lori tells the Gallery 63 staff about the history of an object and what bidders should pay for the object at the auction. She appraises approximately 20,000 objects a year to audiences nationwide. Dr. Lori debuted on the show in Season 3.

Ft. Benning 3-Gun, M14 & Todd's Rifle Positions | Shooting USA
It’s the only pistol, rifle, and shotgun challenge held on an active duty Army Base. If run-and-gun stage challenges are simulated combat, it doesn’t get any more real than when the Army Marksmanship Unit sets up the challenges and adds full-auto fire and Abrams Tanks! Civilians who compete at the Fort Benning Three-Gun Match are forced to utilize hardware from the Army’s vast inventory, which includes wearing an Army-issue gas mask on one stage, and shooting the M249-SAW, or Squad Automatic Weapon, on another.
Plus the enhanced Garand! The firepower advantage of the M1 prevailed during World War Two, but combat service arms were advancing to select fire. So, work began on a replacement that turned out to be the U.S. Service Rifle M14, and is now one of History’s Guns.
And Blackhawk! Pro, Todd Jarrett shows you real world rifle training, while shooting around his rental car. Tune in to Outdoor Channel for more.
