The Schleissheim Palace (Schloss Schleißheim), Bavaria, Germany.
By the time I reached the grounds of Schleissheim Palace (Schloss Schleißheim) in Bavaria, Germany, I had been in Germany for nearly two weeks and had had my fill of palaces. I had not intended to go into the Palace but ventured much further into the grounds because for once I had arrived early enough to do it.
The grounds are massive. It takes a long time to walk from the Lustheim Palace end to the Palace and back to do it justice, which I don't. The photographer in me realised that I only had a small chance to photograph the Palace from the right angle so set this as my aim and did not really pause to see much else, (from that point of view a morning visit would have been better).
A nice place to chill (if the weather is in your favour).

Lustheim Palace (at 1.3 km from Schleissheim New Palace) hosts an exhibition of wonderful Meissen porcelain collection (Meissen is a small town near Dresden, a tourist tour at Meissen porcelain factory is very interesting too).

Schleissheim New Palace, Germany
Schleissheim New Palace (Neues Schloss Schleissheim) is a part of Schleissheim Palace complex and a great example of German baroque architecture together with the grand baroque park. The Gallery of baroque paintings there from the Bavarian State Picture Collections is very impressive too.
Schleissheim Old Palace is an example of German early baroque architecture from 18th century, now it is a museum with two exhibitions - of religious culture and history of Prussia with different national costume styles.
Lustheim Palace (at 1.3 km from Schleissheim New Palace) hosts an exhibition of wonderful Meissen porcelain collection (Meissen is a small town near Dresden, a tourist tour at Meissen porcelain factory is very interesting too).
Quite interesting is also the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleissheim near the Schleißheim Old Palace (with exhibition of very first Otto Lilienthal gliders and old German airplanes and engines).

Inspired by collecting: The Dr Ernst Schneider Collection of Meissen porcelain at Lustheim Castle
Dr. Katharina Hantschmann, Senior Curator, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich
The collector Dr. Ernst Schneider (1900 - 1977) was one of the leading industrialists of the young German Federal Republic. After World War II he moved from Saxony to Düsseldorf, where he was president of the Chamber of Commerce, highly respected by politicians and economists. On several occasions he mentioned that without collecting he would not have been so successful in his work and that he gathered his energy by studying and handling his porcelain. He was co-founder and treasurer of the Society of German Ceramic Friends and its well reputed journal “Keramos”.
In 1968 he donated the greatest part of his porcelain collection with more than 2000 pieces to the Bavarian State. His prerequisite for exhibiting the collection in a Baroque palace was fulfilled by placing the collection in Lustheim Castle which is situated outside Munich. The castle was built by the Bavarian Elector Max Emanuel between 1684 and 1689. This famous collection of early Meissen porcelain ranks second only to the Zwinger in Dresden.
The lecture will discuss highlights and some of the most interesting pieces of the collection, such as several of the most precious items painted with Chinese scenes by Johann Gregorius Höroldt, animal figures by the sculptor Johann Joachim Kaendler and the Indian centrepiece of Count Brühl.
