Effective School to Work Transition Project in Egypt
This documentary film highlights the first phase of the Effective School to Work Transition through Career Information and Guidance for Youth Project. Starting in 2009, the ILO project lasted four years and was funded by the Italian Government.
The project helped to establish five youth units in Public Employment Services (PES) offices affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower and Migration in Fayoum, Alexandria (Borg el Arab), Aswan (Edfu), Luxor (Bayadia) and Giza. It also ran a number of job fairs for the first time in these areas, which resulted in the successful recruitment of more than 5000 young men and women.

Friday prayers throughout Cairo were dedicated to those who died in the EgyptAir Flight 990 crash earlier this week.
A special church service was also held in remembrance of a cabin crew attendant who'd been on board the fatal flight.
There are still numerous questions as to why EgyptAir Flight 990 plunged into the Atlantic.
On Friday the sounds of prayers echoed throughout Cairo.
Egyptians converged on mosques throughout the country to pray for the passengers of EgyptAir flight 990.
Clergymen referred to the 217 people on board as martyrs going to heaven.
Cairo has become a hotbed of whispered conspiracy theories as to the cause of the crash.
Opinions ranged from an Israeli-injected virus on the aircraft's onboard computer to a U-S-fired surface-to-air missile.
There have even been suggestions that the crash was somehow linked to Egypt's new government taking office.
At the Virgin Mary Church in Cairo, grief stricken relatives and friends of Bassam Bahgad Badieh, a cabin flight attendant on board the doomed Flight 990, gathered.
The EgyptAir flight plummeted to the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday, killing all 217 on board.
It could take months before investigators pinpoint the cause of the crash, which occurred about half an hour after the Cairo-bound jet left New York.
Investigators have begun the painstaking process of identifying the remains retrieved so far.
Families have been providing dental records and details to help distinguish their loved ones, such as birth marks or jewellery.
Some victims' relatives have expressed frustration with the pace of the investigation.
Friends and relatives waiting at Cairo airport for those passengers that never arrived - are now expressing their deepest grief - and asking questions about what caused the plane's crash.

Egypt. Say the word Egypt and our minds fill with images of a vast desert, the reddish-brown horizon wavering in the heat. And rising from that expanse of sand and sun, ancient monuments. But Yukinori Kawae, an archaeologist specializing in 3D survey of megalithic structures and settlement archaeology during the Age of the Pyramids, has a different view. He had been living in Egypt for 16 years. While enrolled in the course at American University in Cairo, he was given Ahmed Fakhry Award in Egyptology, and later the Human Social Science Honor for his outstanding academic achievement. Since 2004, Yukinori has been engaged as an area supervisor of Ancient Egypt Research Associates Inc. (AERA), the USA, in the excavation and research of Pyramid Town at Giza. He then took part in the U.S.-Japan Joint Research Project in the 3D survey of Queen Khentkawes' tomb. He has also assisted with Luxor East Bank Groundwater Lowering Response Project by the American Research Center in Egypt. In 2008, as an AERA laser scanning director, Yukinori completed the international 3D survey project of Egypt's oldest pyramid—the step pyramid of Sakkara. This year, in 2012, he completed his doctoral program (Ph.D.) in History, and has been selected as a research fellow in the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Yukinori has been in quest of understanding the pyramids, and I'm sure we can be provided with fresh insight into the monument.
