Luxor Egypt Travel Guide (from Cairo to Luxor for ONLY $25 Round Trip)
Getting from Cairo to Luxor for $25 roundtrip is just the start! Here’s a peak at what 2 days in Luxor looks like - how to get there, where to stay, and of course things to do :) We went to Luxor for two days back in May and it was HOT, but we still got a chance to see all the major sights: Luxor Temple, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and Habu Temple. Luxor has a unique beauty that is fed by Nile and runs through each and every statue, pillar, and monument from thousands of years ago. It is still hard to believe that everything we saw was created by humans so long ago our modern minds can’t quite comprehend it. This place is one of the most special places we have ever visited, and it is well worth more than a couple of days to see.
If you’re interested in taking the cheap route from Cairo to Luxor via the Go-Bus like we did, check out ((

LUXOR TEMPLE & VALLEY OF THE KINGS | Egypt Travel Vlog
We only had one day to explore Luxor, Egypt, so even though we barely slept on the overnight train from Cairo, we went out at 7:00 A.M. to be the first and only tourists at the incredible Luxor Temple! It was totally worth it because it wasn't too hot yet and we took all the videos and photos we wanted with NO other people! Once the first tour bus arrived, we headed back to our hotel and had breakfast (AND COFFEE), but then decided to nap for few hours to wait out the mid day heat before heading to the Valley of the Kings via a $0.10 ferry and $7 taxi. Once again, we felt like there should have been way more tourists than there was, but we weren't complaining!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

❤️Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!
Luxor Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Luxor in Egypt.
Egypt’s Golden Age commenced with Thebes, known today as Luxor, which lies on the eastern bank of the Nile. Homer referred to Luxor’s temples as, „El-Uqsor“, “The Place of Palaces”. From Ramses to Tut-ench-Amun…from Tutmosis to Hatschepsut...Egyptian rulers have bequeathed a priceless inheritance of monumental architecture. Statues from the era of Ramses the Second, temples, necropolis’ – cities of the dead – hieroglyphics, sphinxes and obelisks…they’re all here in Luxor, the birthplace of modern Egyptology.

EGYPT: Nile Cruise & Ancient Monuments (Luxor, Aswan, Giza)
Impression of Egypt along the Nile. More videos of the 7-day Nile Cruise:
Egyptian civilization have depended on the river Nile since ancient times. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along the Nile valley north of Aswan. Silt deposits from the Nile made the surrounding land fertile because the river overflowed its banks annually. The Ancient Egyptians cultivated and traded wheat, flax, papyrus and other crops around the Nile. The Nile was also a convenient and efficient means of transportation for people and goods. Nearly all the cultural and historical sites of Ancient Egypt are found along river banks.
The Nile was an important part of ancient Egyptian spiritual life and considered to be a causeway from life to death and the afterlife. The east was thought of as a place of birth and growth, and the west was considered the place of death. Thus, all tombs were west of the Nile, because the Egyptians believed that in order to enter the afterlife, they had to be buried on the side that symbolized death.

For more detailed information about each monument see the description of each individual video. Except for:
The Colossi of Memnon (51:16) are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned in Egypt during the Dynasty XVIII. For the past 3,400 years (since 1350 BC), they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, located west of the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor. Two shorter figures are carved into the front throne alongside his legs: these are his wife Tiye and mother Mutemwiya. The side panels depict the Nile god Hapy.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities (55:30), known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, in Cairo-Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. It houses the world's largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities.
Part of the collection will be moved to the new Grand Egyptian Museum set to open in 2020. It will house Tutankhamun's complete collection of between 4000 and 5000 artefacts, many of which are undergoing restoration and have never been displayed; the vast collection we have viewed at the old museum represents only about a third of the whole. The Grand Egyptian Museum is located on 50 hectares at Giza, two kilometres from the Grand Pyramids. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo will remain open.

Egypt Travel Cairo& Luxor
After a quick flight from Greece we landed in Egypt. We got lost in the streets of Cairo (the local market al hallili ) in order to feel the vibes of the city. After our visit in the Necropolis of Giza and our first experience with camels we directed to Luxor, driving 700 km through the dessert. The best compensation for the distance covered was our flight at the dawn with a hot air balloon, which gave us an amazing view of the river Nile and the Valley of the kings. Enjoy!

Luxor Egypt Travel Vlog Part 1 - Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple
Still on our On The Go Tour, we visited two of the Luxor Temples (we did visit on different days but I've kept them together as it's a bit confusing with all the travelling to different locations and different temples).
Luxor, Egypt - World's Greatest Open Air Museum by the Nile
Luxor, Egypt - The city on the east bank of the Nile River that is rich with lots of historical tombs, museums, monuments, and temples that made it the world's greatest open air museum. Luxor is the place where the kings and queens of old Egypt were crowned.
Luxor, Egypt, is the city that tourists visit for two different reasons: first of all it is filled with lots of historical museums and temples which people get astonished by. Second, being placed by the Nile River give this city a different look and atmosphere, one that make people happy with the view which they might as well receive from their hotel rooms.
There are several things we have seen in this city, the one that is really considered an open air museum because every single direction one tends to look in, there is something to be spotted. The ruins of the temple complexes at Karnak and Luxor stand in the middle of the modern city, which was the site of the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes.
On the opposite side across the Nile River, there are the monuments, temples, and tombs of the west bank Necropolis, which include the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut is one of the most famous landmarks of Luxor that tourists from all over the world come to see.
The west bank of Luxor has always been the main area for cemeteries and mortuary temples, and this is a role that has not been changed till these days. Luxor Temple is one of the sites that is also considered different since this ancient Egyptian complex is a place where people get to walk in between those long pillars and just think about how the Pharaohs managed to build them; this place is where many of the kings of Egypt where crowned.
Among the different sites which one will have to visit in Luxor, Egypt, Karnak Temple is on the list and it is considered a vast open air museum and the second ancient religious in the world, making Luxor a place that stands on top due to the different ancient historical treasures that it carries.
Generally speaking, there are several things one should see in Luxor and which are divided between the west bank and the east bank. In the West Bank, there is the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, Madinet Habu (memorial temple of Ramses III), the Ramseseum (memorial temple of Ramses II), Tombs of the Nobles, Deir Al-Bahri which is the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, Malkata (palace of Amenophis III) as well as Colossi of Memnon (memorial temple of Amenophis III).
On the other side, those attractions found on the east bank include Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Luxor Museum, and the Mummification Museum.
For those who plan to travel to Luxor, Egypt, they always include Aswan in this plan because they are next to one another and they could even book a room in a Nile Cruise that will take them through Luxor and Aswan and show them the historical landmarks during the trip by stopping at these spots and letting the tourists come down and enjoy the place - they could even book the whole thing with a tour guide.
Getting the chance to see the different monuments, temples, and museums is the number one reason behind heading to Luxor, Egypt, but some people plan to make this trip extraordinary with doing any of the activities which they might not get the chance to do anywhere else, such as riding the air balloon or else riding a horse carriage. In Aswan, make sure to go and enjoy the Nubian life if you have the time to, because the colors of the place will make you feel like you want to stay there forever.
Egypt is one of the countries that is stuffed with lots of historical places for the tourists to visit and come across but most of those who choose Egypt as their destination tend to start with Cairo, so if your trip is going to start there, you have to know that a train to Luxor will take about 12 hours and is considered very tiring, so you could better book a plane ticket. In addition to that, the weather in Egypt is usually hot in summer but when it comes to Luxor and Aswan, this hotness is doubled, so it is better to come in winter or the first days of spring.
This was our experience in Luxor, Egypt, so tell us how was yours if you have been there? Since we want our trips to Egypt to be different, we think that checking Al Fayoum ( or heading to Alexandria ( should be our next plans, or we could even surf the internet and search for the other cities or places in Egypt which are known with famous landmarks or activities which we might be able to visit.
At Connolly Cove channel, you will be able to receive several recommendations and suggestions for the places to visit in the countries you are planning to travel to. We are mainly focused on Ireland and Northern Ireland but lately we decided to expand to other countries that we even managed to reach Egypt eventually and see it differently, and here we are in Luxor this time.
Luxor is Too Epic!
Everything I saw in this breathtaking city was more epic than the last! Wow!

A Trip through Luxor Egypt March 2012
For Spring Break 2012 I jumped on a plane and headed to Egypt. My first stop was a three day excursion in Luxor. In this video you will see clips and pictures from my visit to The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Colossi of Memnon, Karnak Temple, and Luxor Temple. There was no photography allowed in some areas like The Valley of the Kings. Still there was plenty to see. It was an amazing tour provided by Sina Tours. If you have plans to visit Egypt, make sure to travel with them. They provided me with all travel arrangements from the airport to the hotel, entry to all attractions, and all lunches. They pretty much took care of everything. My guide who you will see was also great. He was so personable that it felt like a trip with a good friend than a travel guide.
