VIP Sleeper Bus Hanoi to Sapa, Vietnam. How OmaYo 6 hours journey on VIP Bus Cabin
OmaYo (Grandma Yo) solo traveler, first time traveling to Hanoi, North Vietnam
Hanoi to Sapa Sleeper Bus Comparison - Private Cabin Type VS Open Sleeping Berth Type (Vietnam)
We tried both Private Cabin Type bus (from Hanoi to Sapa), and the 3-row open sleeper bus from Sapa to Hanoi, Vietnam, so my choice is based on personal experience.
Private cabin bus is from Fansipan Express, whereas, the open sleeper berth bus is from Green Bus. The former is more expensive than the latter.
Watch the video and weigh the difference ($7), either you save or spend more on comfort.
You can book both via your hotel or any tour operator or direct. You can book it online at:

HORRIBLE SLEEPER BUS VIETNAM - Hanoi
HORRIBLE SLEEPER BUS VIETNAM - Hanoi
After spending a week in Hanoi it was time to head north. We booked some cheap tickets on a sleeper bus and we had one hell of an experience! Yes, overall, it was a horrible experience. After this we tried hard to avoid any other sleeper buses. It could have been much worse, so we're grateful it wasn't. Have you had any crappy travel experiences??

HANOI to SAPA on a Sleeper Bus (cubicle-type) via Fansipan Express - Vietnam
A raw video taken by a cellphone cam to show you how comfortable to travel from Hanoi to Sapa via a sleeper bus. We booked the ticket thru our hostel. We were expecting the 3-row sleeper bus open plan. We were picked up by taxi (free) from our hostel then dropped off to a highway where the bus is waiting, the guy on the bus whispered you were upgraded I don't know what it mean but when we got on the bus we were surprised, it was cubicle-type with lower and upper cubicle bed with curtain for privacy and of course the moving scenries on the full window. It even has a toilet, convenient for my exploding gallbladder :D
The trip took about 6 hours from Hanoi to Sapa with one stop, about one hour more to Sapa, for lunch. By the way, set lunch is 50K dong, huge meal of chicken, beef, veggies, soup and a mountain of rice ($2).
Sorry for the shaky cam, it's inside a moving bus and the footage is raw, don't have time to process.

✏︎ As we decided to head for Sapa in the Northwestern region of Vietnam, we had to figure out how to get there. However it wasn't hard to pick the most intriguing solution, as we found out there are night trains from Hanoi to Lao Cai which is the train station closest to Sapa.
We booked a VIP cabin, which means we have a 2 berth cabin all to ourselves. You can also book a bed in a 4 berth cabin, but those were simply too small for comfort if you ask us.
The whole experience was great. Of course it's not easy to get a proper nights sleep, but it's a great way to save both money and time, as the train removes the need to accommodation elsewhere. If you are going to Sapa from Hanoi this is very much recommendable.

The Amazing Hanoi & Sapa, Vietnam
The Sapa is much beautiful place! We visited Sapa in end of July which is the super HOT weather in Hanoi! However, it is the storm raining season in Halong Bay! This almost spoiled the trip due to we were unable to go to Halong Bay. But we changed to Tam Coc for 1 day trip.
We first tried to sleep in the train and sleep in the bus, also swimming on the mountain! It is really a a unforgettable experience for this trip :) I am sure I will plan my next trip to Halong Bay!
Thank you for watching my video! It is not professional made but just try to record down the memories.
I am willing to share the travel experience if you have any :)
Vietnam Travel GoPro - Hanoi to Sapa sleeper bus FAIL
Vietnam Travel GoPro - Hanoi to Sapa sleeper bus: We took this as we travelled from Halong Bay to Sapa in North Vietnam. I was a long trip finishing up with the less-than-impressive sleeper express bus from Hanoi to Sapa. The sleeper bus we took was a tired old vehicle with lights that didn't work properly and very little leg room if you're 6 foot tall like me. The journey to Sapa valley in January was also cold, so make sure you wrap up warm on the bus if you decide to take it. The night bus isn't great, but it gets you to Sapa in one piece - and apparently, its much better now after they recently opened the expressway. Not sure what it must have been like before. Next time, I'll try the Hanoi to Sapa train!
