Luzhi Water Town, better known as Venice of China is a 2500 years old water town 20 km south of Suzhou city, mostly found in its old traditional form. Conscious attempts have been made to keep its originality and antiquity. The old part of the town is spread over 250 acres. The town is also famous for its thousands years old arched bridges such as Zhengyang Bridge and Dongmei Bridge, Jiangnan Culture Park, 1500 years old Baisheng Temple and antique White Lotus Flower Temple.

China's Tongli Water Town: Venice of the East
China's Tongli , or Tong-Li, in Wujiang County near Suzhou is definitely worth a visit. Known as the Venice of the East, this place is truly magical and transports visitors to a slower paced China. We visited this charming town on a day trip from Shanghai during the fall of 2015 while backpacking through China. Definitely recommend taking a gondola ride around the old town and visiting Tuisi Garden

Today, we decided to bring our GoPro and wander through Suzhou, a city west of Shanghai, best known for its meticulously manicured gardens, romantic canals with arched stone bridges, pagodas, and temples dotted amongst the modern city elements.
Today, Suzhou is one of the largest and most prosperous industrial cities in China. It is also one of China’s most popular tourist destinations full of UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites. Prepare to be whisked away from the noise and chaos of the city to the peaceful symbolic life of the 'Venice of China'.
It makes a great one or two-day tour outside of Shanghai, being just one and a half hours by car or 25 minutes on the high-speed train.

Nanxun District (simplified Chinese: 南浔区; traditional Chinese: 南潯區; pinyin: Nánxún Qū) is a district in the prefecture-level city of Huzhou, Zhejiang province, China. Nanxun Town (南浔镇), an old town, is located in the district. It is one of the most well-preserved old towns in this region and is known for its cultural heritage. Other towns in the district include Shuanglin, Lianshi, Linghu, Shanlian, Qianjin and Shicong.
It was called Xunxi in the 9th century; Nanxun was established in the 13th century. The town turned into an important distribution center of farm and other products due to convenient transportation by water. Between the 16th to 19th centuries. The area emerged as one of the first entrepreneurial regions in the regions south of the Yangtze River. Production of silkworm and silk reels flourished and the raw silk trade developed. Naxun became a commodity economy situated between in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.

Suzhou is one of the most beautiful and mysterious city in the world, if not the most special of all.
This video is the Part 3 of a series of three videos made from my photos and clips collection taken at Tongli, in the surroundings of Suzhou during few days that i have stayed over there in the middle of December 2011.
Tongli is an age-old but very well preserved water township with a history of more than 1,000 years. It is located by Lake Taihu and the Grand Cana. The layout of the town and the residences basically retain the traditional style. Houses of the Ming and Qing Dynasties account for about 40% of all the buildings in the town, and a large number of beautiful gardens all over the little town.

Located in Kunshan city about 11 miles (18 kilometers) east of Suzhou, Luzhi is an old but extremely beautiful water town. With a history of more than 2,500 years, it compares favorably to Zhouzhuang Water Town. Covering about 247 acres (100 hectares), it has been awarded the great name of 'the No. 1 water town in China'.
