Undercliff, the Walk into Lyme Regis.
Some shots might be recognised from a film starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons based on a book by John Fowles. This is our walk into town, today with wellies. The undercliff is habituated by many types of mythical beasts and wonders: wood elves are common, but so are marauding goblins and we often hear tales of dumb ass trolls (who take the silencers off their motorbikes). This day we were not chased by black riders,( I suppose that's because it's many years since we destroyed the precious), but artistic pretensions they hounded and haunted us everywhere. Not only must each shot mean something so elusive you'll never get it, it must also be boring...
A walk along the South West Coast Path between Axmouth to Lyme Regis
The Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve is open for walkers along the South West Coast Path. It takes in a fascinating section over Goat Island, an area of coast that had previously been closed for public access shortly after the Great Landslip that created it on Christmas Eve, 1839. The route from Seaton to Lyme Regis can be walked in two halves. Part 1 - and Part 2 -

Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis (pronounced /ˌlaɪmˈriːdʒɪs/) is a coastal town in West Dorset, England, situated 25 miles west of Dorchester and 25 miles (40 km) east of Exeter. The town lies in Lyme Bay, on the English Channel coast at the Dorset-Devon border. It is nicknamed The Pearl of Dorset. The town is noted for the fossils found in the cliffs and beaches, which are part of the Heritage Coast—known commercially as the Jurassic Coast—a World Heritage Site. The harbour wall, The Cobb, features in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion, and in the film and novel, The French Lieutenant's Woman, by local writer John Fowles.
Lyme is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. In the 13th century it developed into one of the major British ports. A Royal Charter was granted by King Edward I in 1284, with the addition of 'Regis' to the town's name. This charter was confirmed by Elizabeth I in 1591. The town was home to Admiral Sir George Somers, its one time mayor and parliamentarian, who founded the Somers Isles, better known as Bermuda.
A visit to Lyme Regis
Dorset June 2017
Welcome to Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis in Dorset, England, is at the heart of the Jurrassic Coast World Heritage site and distinguished by its unique Cobb. This sturdy harbour defence was made famous by the opening scenes from the film adaptation of The French Lieutenant's Woman -- a classic novel written by Lyme Regis resident and author John Fowles. It also features in Jane Austen's novel Persuasion. Jane Austen, John Fowles, Beatrix Potter , Tennyson and JMW Turner are just some of the famous writers and artists who have visited and been inspired by Lyme Regis. Today, the town is teaming with galleries and bookshops selling the works of talented modern-day artists who have been drawn to the town by the beauty, peace and drama of its surroundings.Steeped in history, gilded by the sea and surrounded by stunning scenery, it's no surprise that so many creative people continue to make their home in Lyme Regis, drawing on its wealth of natural beauty and ancient heritage.

Lyme Regis - a walking tour across the beach & town
Simply filmed on a cheap camera so bear this in mind. I've since filmed everything on a professional camera (see video link response below) to view Lyme Regis in peak summer. A much better video I made. Enjoy.
Video of the fossil area, gardens, promenade, town centre, the Cobb harbour, beach and general views from multiple angles from one side
of the Jurassic coast line to the other.
I don't live too far away from Lyme Regis, but I always notice the constant erosion of the cliff face changes all the time. My best advice is to check the tide timetable when walking out and beyond the fossil area to avoid being stranded by the sea.
Fossils can be found but it helps having a dedicated fossil hunting rock hammer. Enjoy.
