The Little Train to Lynton {Part 1} (BBC 2 Documentary)
1: Success to the Railway.
In 1898 one of Britain's best-loved branch lines was opened from Barnstaple to Lynton in North Devon; a 191-mile scenic trip that took one-and-a-half hours.
The track was only two feet wide, the engines and coaches mere toys beside the main line trains, yet it was a real working railway.
It closed in 1935, killed by the motor car, but it is not forgotten. In the first of two films, former passengers recall the magic of the railway with the help of photographs and rare archive film.
Written and narrated by Gwyn Richards
Broadcast: BBC 2, 27 July 1989

EXMOOR WALK FEATURING LYNTON, LYNMOUTH AND THE VALLEY OF ROCKS
Lynton and Lynmouth”
Filmed 29th August 2017
Running time: 20 minutes
I spend a day exploring the beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, where Exmoor meets the sea. This is one of my favourite places in Exmoor National Park so, despite the rather drizzly weather for a large part of the day, it’s a joy for me to be visiting here again. I explore the town of Lynton followed by a walk to the spectacular Valley of Rocks. The best part of the day, however, is when I drop down into the wonderful Lynmouth…..
Filmed in the county of Devon. Locations include Lynton, Lynmouth and the Valley of Rocks. This is the first film in Exmoor.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

Bonnicott View, Lynton, Devon
Set on cliffs 600 feet above Lynmouth Bay in Exmoor National Park, Bonnicott View is part of a prestigious development in Lynton, where – as the tourist brochures tell you - Exmoor meets the sea. It is owned by a former presenter of the BBC’s Countryfile programme who “fell in love with the view and the area”.
This exclusive penthouse apartment has 3 bedrooms – a super-king size en suite with balcony, a double and a single. Access to the apartment is by lift or stairs and it benefits from panoramic sea views to Wales across the bay. The property has two shower rooms and is ideal for 4 people, but can take 5.
The Little Engines - Lynton & Barnstaple Gala ( Sep/Oct 2018 )
The success of the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway's gala at the end of September/beginning of October can be judged by the number of cars in the main and overflow car parks which can be seen in this clip. Whilst the two recreations of original L&B locomotives (Lyd and Lyn) worked up the line the two little engines, Isaac and Axe, which have been stalwarts of the early days of the successful reinstatement of the line gave demonstration goods workings within the Woody Bay station limits, so there was always something going on.

Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Top Railway
Whilst in Devon we visited Lynton & Lynmouth and took a ride on the famous cliff top railway.
I've speeded up the decent and ascent as it was a bit too long. Gives it kind of a London - Brighton train journey film type effect.
