DeLand Florida What To See And Do 2019
DeLand Florida What To See And Do 2019, Norm & Tina travel to the historic University Town of DeLand Florida in Volusia County home to Stetson University, 24 miles from the famous Daytona Beach.
We take a 2 hour tour of the St Johns River on the ecological tour offered by Blue Heron River Cruises. We really enjoyed this laid back river cruise with an expert guide and Captain, we saw a lot of variety of birds including two bald beaded eagles, one had a fish in it's talons.
After the cruise we went into DeLand a beautiful historic city, the government administration centre of Volusia County. The main street, Woodland Blvd is an award winning main street, preserving some lovely old buildings, unlike other cities it's main street Woodland Blvd, is fully occupied by small business's including a beautiful opera house.
Tina and I also found the famous wings of DeLand #delandwings a mural by the Erica Group, where you can take photos or selfies and post them to Instagram with the above hashtag and be part of a community.
We saw where Roy Rogers and Trigger appeared at the Athens Theatre a beautiful architectural gem behind the old courthouse. The Old Courthouse is open to visit and admire the artworks, fountain and spectacular dome.
Our visit to DeLand was just a few hours and there is so much to see from Stetson University and John B Stetsons Mansion the creator of the Stetson Hat, DeLand boasts being the sky diving capital of the world, along with interesting one of a kind stores and restaurants we do recommend you to visit DeLand Florida!
