The shrine on Bornholm
Visit the shrine cliffs on Bornholm. For centuries, the burning in this place has eroded the rocky coast and created deep gorges into the mountain. Back now are the sharp blades, crushed granite columns and steep rock walls with deep corridors and caves - so-called ovens, which together form the Shrine cliffs.
Sacred Source
The up to 20 meter tall Shrine is named after a sacred source that ran out of the rock to the feet of ancient times. On the ground above, in the Middle Ages, there was a chapel, the Trinity Chapel, from which life-giving water was collected from the sacred source. Many people have throughout the ages - especially St. His night - escorted to the place in hope of healing. The individual shrines have since been awarded romantic names such as the Lyseklippen, Mågetårnet, the Moon Skins and the Love Bench.
Wet Oven, Dry Oven and Black Pot
You can follow the deepest caves - Hot Oven, Dry Oven and Black Pot - Far into the Mountain. Especially Black Casserole, where you can penetrate well 60 meters, is popular with visitors. It is also in Black Pot you can meet the Bornholm cave head. It has its favorite residence in the outer third of the cave, where you can see especially its characteristic egg spinning, hanging from the ceiling like small Chinese lamps.
Klipperøn and vandrefalk
At the shrine of holland on Bornholm you can experience the rare rock-son, a small deciduous shrub whose bark is covered with gray-white hair. Also the water trap had its last Bornholm breeding place for decades ago here at the Shrine.
The Shrine Attracts Climbers
The challenging Bornholm Shrine also attracts climbing enthusiasts. However, a large part of the area is protected and should therefore not be used for climbing.
Boat trip between Gudhjem and the shrine
During the summer season, the small boat M / S Thor departs several times daily from Gudhjem to the Shrine. From the seaside you have the opportunity to experience a comprehensive overview of the many different rock formations and walks of the Shrine.
