The Best Moments in Maldives as solo female traveler ( Mafushi, Male, Vilingili, and Hulhumale)

Hi guys.
Welcome to my youtube channel. I'm a Muslimah solo Traveller who loves to travel and adventure in my own way. I travel with the student backpacker budget.

Traveling always inspires me more to see the beautiful world with my own eyes, meet genuine people where infinite kindness of strangers exists in this world, taste different local foods, learn the beautiful languages and experience the different cultures.

Maldives is a peaceful country with beautiful beaches and islands, an Islamic country, and Maldivians are very friendly.
I decided backpacker to Maldives when I got tickets promotion USD 101 for two ways from Kuala Lumpur -Maldives (velana airport) -Kuala Lumpur.

Maldives was my dream country, I thought it was not easy to make it became true as the budget specifically for student backpacker like me. The accommodation in Maldives is also affordable for backpackers from the price of USD19.11 when I booked with Airbnb. I can also feel like a local when I stayed with Maldivian family in Maldives from couchsurfing.com, from them I learned a lot about the life of the Maldivians, the Maldivians language, Maldivian traditions, and cooked traditional Maldivian food. Maldivians are very friendly and genuine. I felt like stayed with my own family there. So thankful for them to be a part of my journey in Maldives.

The basic language of Maldivian,
Assalamualaikum : Halo! (Peace be unto you)
Haluu kihineh? : How are you?
Rangalhu: fine.
Aan : Yes
Noon : No
Shukuriya : Thanks
Kon nameh kiyanee? : what is your name?
Ma-aafu kirey : Sorry

Maldives is also very safe for solo travelers.

What I like most is the food, eating at the edge of the beach with waves, ocean's smell, enjoying crystal clear water, white sand and golden sunset orange bounce on the surface of the sea. This is an unforgettable experience in Maldives. the food is also quite affordable for backpackers. In Male I found affordable food from the price of USD 5, at Mafushi, Vilingili, and Huhumale the price of food is from USD 10.

Transportation in Maldives.
My trip was in Maldives, Velana Airport - Mafushi - Male - Vilingili - Hulhumale.
From Velana Airport, You can use two alternatives with a direct ferry from Velana airport to Mafushi around USD 20-25 or a local ferry Velana-Male ticket ferry around USD 1 drop at the jetty 1 then grab a taxi to jetty ferry Mafushi with fee USD 2, ticket local ferry from male to Mafushi around USD 3. This is the link for the timetable local ferry arena-lodge-maldives-Maafushi-south-male-atoll / ferry /.
In Mafushi you can book many activities: a daily tour to a private bungalow around USD 110 / pax, water sport, etc.
You can spend 2 days to enjoy the tourist attractions in Mafushi.

Male is the capital of Maldives, in Male you can visit the National Museum, the Friday Grand Mosque, the Local Male Market, the Victory Monument, the Tsunami Monument, Jumhooree Maidhaan, Sultan Park, Rasfannu, Souvenir shops, and Watersports.

Vilingili is a local island that is very near from Male, the ticket ferry about USD 1, Vilingili has a nice view of the beach and water sport.

Hulhumale is one of the busy city in Maldives after Male, now it is very easy to visit it from Male with Male -Hulhumale bridge. Velana airport is also located in Hulhumale. Things to do in Hulhumale: Dune Maldives Diving Center, Hulhumale mosque, Hulhumale beach, Hulhumale park, and water sport.

Maldives beaches also famous with Bioluminescent Plankton if you're lucky. you can see it between June and October. (

Happiness is not about getting what you want but enjoying and gratitude what you have.

|AQNEZ| - Snorkeling and Submarine Tour in Maldives

Snorkeling in Himmafushi with HWSC & submarine with Whale Submarine have been a great experience for me!

Upon landing in Maldives, I'm greeted with the beautiful scenery; CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER! Still seems surreal to me now #blessed. The Maldivians are so amiable, so polite & great customer service - every request you make, you can surely expect an 'Okay yes I'll do that'.

We stayed at Samaan Host for the first 3 days and the staff there is superb. In our Day 2 activity, we went out with Hulhumale Watersports Club & Excursions (HWSC) & they brought us to the sandback to snorkel. :) Our guides were Nashith & Sharu and they explained to us how we should swim in the current & the hand signals we should use to check if we are good in the water.

I used my own life jacket to snorkel & find myself panicking 5 minutes later; the life jacket that I brought is a BIG NONO! Nashith mentioned that the air jacket that I used will cause me to float on my back when I thread water, causing my snorkel mask to be submerge in the water & I ended up struggling & feeling suffocated. But with the help of the experienced guides, they pulled me to the sandback & I sat there shaken for a while :')

I went in again, and with a proper life jacket & some technique of swimming
taught by the guides, I was able to snorkel & see the beautiful marine creatures. So much emotions in that 1-2hours; from feeling despaired to becoming prepared. So for any of you guys who can't swim like me, you should use the life jacket that is provided by the boat. And another thing is if the water is too choppy, I would advise you not to join in just to be safe! Come back & try again the next time when you can swim well! (note to myself too) :)

On Day 3, we went to the souvenir shop & met Papa of Maldives. Had lunch & we headed to Whale Submarine for our virgin ride! The price of the submarine tour is affordable; you can check out their website to see the time slots available!

Captain Amira said if we are lucky, we can get to see sharks & WE ARE INDEED BLESSED! Moray eels, Groupers, Surgeonfish, Stingrays, Shovelnose Ray & Sharks!! Great companion + amazing experience = PURE JOY.

Dusit Thani Maldives is a 35-minute seaplane ride from Male International Airport. It is a 10-minute speedboat ride from the domestic airport in Baa Atoll.
International buffet spreads are served at The Market, while the over-water Benjarong restaurant offers Thai dishes. Grilled seafood and steaks on the beach can be enjoyed at The Sea Grill. Drinks and snacks are available at Sand Bar and Sala Bar.
Suspended from the trees, the one of a kind Devarana Spa features 6 tree-top treatment pods with spectacular views. For health-conscious guests, the resort has yoga instructors, a modern gym and flood-lit tennis courts. The resort offers guests diving and snorkeling. There is also a library and souvenir shop.

everything on the island was amazing from the first step from the Male airport till we went back to the airport, it was superb marvellous experience that i advice every one must try it special with Dust Thani, cleanness of the resort and the ocean Villas the concern about all the small details of the resort and to make sure the guest have all there needs in perfect way ,,me, my wife and my princess we enjoy it the most and it was just like a dream that i wanna have it again, Thanks to all the staff who made my stay perfect.
This hotel makes you feel a bit of cognitive dissonance.. in a good way :) You are on Maldives, coral reef and fishes are Maldives, however resort is Thai. And it makes you feel like you are in a very good hotel in Thailand. So the whole experience is like visiting two places in the same time. Recommended for everyone who is familiar with traditional Maldivian resorts and wants something a bit new and unusual. Early check-in and late check-out is also something that not many hotels offers for free. Staff are great.
Minuses:
Pillows were a bit smelly. But note that I'm exceptionally sensitive to smells. And my fiancée said that she cannot smell it.
