THE PAI MOANA STORY (From the TAHITI BEACH PRESS)
Peter RINGLAND, a Canadian by birth, quickly figured out that there were two equal development opportunities in TAHITI: tourism and black pearls. He is one of the rare expatriates with a solid experience in these two fields. It must be added that he wouldn’t be where he is today if some insurance company had not been afraid of the 1978 hurricane season. At the time Peter RINGLAND owned a 70-ft sailboat, the Seer, that became famous in the American TV series “Hawaii Five-O” under the name “Sea Sage”. After which, the “Seer” was geared for scuba diving. Unable to sail to the Bahamas because he couldn’t get insurance, Peter Ringland and his crew sailed to TAHITI.
“Pai” was the Tahititian hero in ancient times, who with a single throw of his spear from Tahiti, pierced one of Moorea’s highest summits. The hole is still visible today. Moana is the Tahitian word for “Ocean”. Since then, Peter RINGLAND was never thankful enough to Rodo for making him the “Hero of the Oceans”, something quite proper for someone who spent 4 years criss-crossing the Tuamotu Islands and organizing diving cruises.
The first person he met in the city of PAPEETE, on the first day he arrived there in June 1978, was the legendary long haul sailor Rodo William.
Like many Polynesians of ancient generations, Rodo had an inborn sense of navigation in the high seas. “He knows everything by heart and doesn’t need maps” Peter Ringland liked to say. “Rodo became like my adopted father”. When Peter Ringland got married a few years later with an island girl, Rodo respected the tradition by giving the young groom a Polynesian name: “PAI MOANA”

Moana Adventure Tours experience in Bora Bora
Planning a trip to Bora Bora? Looking for some fun water activities? Check out this video. Jessica and I had a memorable experience thanks to Moana Adventure Tours which offers a wide range of activities, tours, cruises and excursions on the Island of Bora Bora.
Our day started with a 2 hour jet ski tour that circled the entire island of Bora Bora, we even stopped at Motu Haapiti Rahi to learn how to open a coconut with a machete. After that we went on a boat cruise to popular snorkeling spots in the lagoon to see sharks, moray eels, and rays. What an incredible experience in Bora Bora.

A day in Moorea French Polynesia
Being welcomed in Moorea French Polynesia with some local music. We found a guy willing to drive us around in his truck and after a lengthy tour, he eventually took us to a no-licence boat rental.
Pardon the bad footage. This was taken back in 2008 when I took footage without any intention of sharing it.
Also, VOLUME ALERT, the wind kicks in sometimes. Moorea is known as one of the 'windward islands'!

Fare Manuia have six bungalows, all built in the traditional Polynesian style, with push-out windows and thatched roofs. All bungalows have kitchens, electric fans, and hot water showers.

Activities
In such a gorgeous spot, there is every chance you will simply want to enjoy the beach and the lagoon. Should you wish to explore the lagoon a little bit further than your fins can take you, it is possible to hire kayaks from the guest-house, by the day, or the half day.

Fare Manuia propose six bungalows, tous construits dans le style traditionnel Polynésien, avec des fenêtres à rabattants et des toits végétaux. Tous les bungalows disposent d'une cuisine, de ventilateurs électriques et de douches avec eau chaude.

Dans un cadre aussi somptueux, il est fort probable que vous passiez votre temps à profiter de la plage et du lagon. Si vous souhaitez explorer le lagon un peu plus loin que vos palmes vous le permettent, il est possible de louer des kayaks auprès de la pension, à la journée ou à la demi-journée.
